I pity people who play air superiority setups xD. You must be so bored or mentally challenged to find that enjoying. But yeah ... if you want air superiority go US, If you want to sink ships go IJN. Sitting in my hiryu, when I see a taiho on the enemy team my pants are rather full and smelly until I find his bombers. If I meet an essex I just take it as a challenge and try to do as much damage as possible(allot more than the essex of course). The new 1000 lbs bombs are by far more effective so I wouldn't count out Dive bomber setups. You just need a bit of RNG.

I'm getting pretty much consistent/close games. Must be good luck I guess. Though I've been playing mostly CVs where I can help my team where they need help and turn the game in our favour in the clutch moments.... with occasional derpitz and mogami games in-between.

Still makes a difference xD. Anyways OP. If you are starting to play more games in higher tiers, BBs get more fire resistant with every tier. I don't know the coeficients right now, but I've read something about it at some time. So its easier to set people on fire on lower tiers. The easiest way to set people on fire is somewhere in the tier 5-6 IJN cruiser range. -

I always find a way to make mogami enjoyable. It was an invisible rain of shells before the update ... Now its a ninja assasin against other cruisers and predictable BB sailors. That 9,4km spotting range makes the ship whats it is. All in all. The ship is a bit less consistent when it comes to the average damage. but sometimes I manage 100k damage, while other times I get unlucky and meet too many DDs that keep me lit up and not being able to do the damage that I want resulting in low 30k damage games. -
Wargamign always fins a way to dissapoint.

We can all agree that ship AA has been buffed extremely. Not just cruisers, even battleships suddenly have absurd amounts of DPM against planes. With my ryujo torpedo bombers I went for a Fuso with a North Carolina roughly 3km behind him. I lost 1 plane on the way in ... OK nothing I can do about ... suddendly 2 more fall into the sea on the last KM of the approach and the last one falls out of the sky when retreating. I thought funny ... RNG didnt like my approach. So I try again with 2 dive bombers 30 seconds later...and the same thing happens again. Next game ... the only ship I managed to do decent damage to was a stupid Kongo who was completely alone in the corner of a map. No matter what approach I took, no matter how much I avoided clevelands and atlantas and cruisers in general, my planes always managed to hit the water only rarely doing any damage. Maybe its just that difference in tiers but I highly suspect that WG f*cked up again. Any North Carolina is practically immune from carriers, which is simply wrong from the rock, paper, scissors perspective. Oh and don't let me get started on the manual fighter barrage ... Its once again a completley useless feature.

Just save the statistics for the mogami today. And watch the numbers plummet over the next month. We can all agree that mogami got hit hard with the nerf hammer... again. Its just that this time, its completely over the top nerfs that will make it a useless ship. I won't sell mine ... since I have too many credits already invested in her. I will try to find another way to make use of her.

Mogami relys on not being spotted. You are playing it in a difrent style I guess ... The only thing I'm missing from the C hull is teh ruder shift time. thos 3600 hp are worth nothing compared to being able to dictate the pace of a fight between you and a BB.

Its easy to say that we should keep it simple and idiot proof. But this becomes an issiue when you take into account the experienced players who find the current options far to lacking. As you said you have no experience with cvs. But being afraid of having to fire your secondaries at airplanes is actually absurd considering how much work there is inbetween every salvo of your main guns. And the most important thing ... Lower tier cruiser ships in a match can actually do something to help you instead of having to close the range where every enemy battleship can citadel it with every salvo. With such engagin gameplay mechanics players would be naturaly attracted to the new position. Curently the only ship worth mentioning is the cleveland. Any experienced cleveland driver will know how to deny half of the map to the enemy cv. I lost games because of it. 1 good support player is worth more than all the CVs on the enemy team. Forgive me for any mistakes. I'm writing this from my phone.

Actualy ... He wouldnt get sniped if he would just use his fighters ... The problem is ... Players like him dont look at the minimap and miss the important clue of 4 bomber squadrons flyng straight to his position. -
Definetley testing out the A hull again after rading this .... WG you sneaky POS... I was always wondering why I get spotted after firing from 17km even when there are no DD's around. All that mogami had was the camo... Now I know why I perform so badly. EDIT: Confirmed. A hull gives you lower spotting range after firing when compared to C hull. The difference is roughly 2km ... THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING! I lost the last little piece of respect for hiding such important informations WG. You people are the worst. Thats it I'm playing with the A hull again. Now I'm again lighting them BBs up from 15.4 km and they cant spot me

As a 5 years long NF player who grinded out all of the kriegsmarine lines ... I know how you feel man. This is a well written topic about how to make cv gameplay and the counterpart of AA more engaging. The air part of the game is far too much game-dependant/automated and makes player feel powerless in their ships. With this situation every player would have an option to counter the enemy play. We would also increase the skill cap significantly(although most player have yet to reach the current one in WOWS) with such options. Sadly I highly doubt WG would be man enough to bring such changes to the air meta. Maybe some day. The sooner ... The easier the transition for the players.

Just tell me please I had 3 games in a row where I ended up against competent bogue players and tehre is absolutley nothing I can do with my 2 TBs and 1 DB. All bougues go for air supremacy. That one game in ten where I don't get a bogue on the enemy team is a fun game but the others are jsut hellhole of trying to damage while flying around the map to avoid his fighter squadrons.

Yeah I'm slowly closing in to finishing the first part of the missions. For the myoko(my favorite ship).Just playing the game and prioritizing killing the DDs when they are in range... thats prety much all I do. Doing 300 fires ... might take some time but my mogami lieks to burn stuf at an average of 10 fires per round so it shouldn't be too long. Cant wait to finish up the DD killing part. For the Kongo challenge I just play regularly. Shooting down 150 planes ... sigh ... this might take a while aswell since I don't have a US CV. -

You cant expect russians to work with logic. Game is loosing players. Players complaining about bad events and overpriced premium packages. WG decides we need more packages and x2 events.

Why are mid tier games (5/6/7) better than high tier games (8/9/10)?

Mostly due to the game economy atm. At tier 8 you break even if you do your shipsworth damage and die. Everything above tier 8 becomes expensive and a grinding experience unless you use premium. And because the costs are so high people are afraid of sinking, resulting in slow careful games where one lucky shot decides the game. Don't even get me started on the fact how much more teamwork is important on higher tiers yet this being a wargaming game with the toxic comunity... Good luck finding an escort cruiser when you go out with a battleship. I haven't played the game in the last 3 weeks, since the last patch broke some crucial game mechanics, but WG said they are working on fixing it with the next patch. I highly doubt however that they will fix the economy since this is WG and money means more to them than a healthy player base. You can see the slow but steady decline in the server statistics. WG definetley sees it. The game has allot of potential. We will see more player when more ships are availible, so the prognosis isn't so grim for this game. -

So what should cruisers do against BB's than? Just watch as they get blown up? CAs are high DPM ships. BBs are DERP machines. If a CA can shoot a BB over a prolonged time it should win, because the BB didn't focus the CA. On average a CA gets one salvo every 10 seconds ... every salvo deals on average 3-4k damage. Considering the average tier 8 health ... the CA has no chance of killing the BB unless the BB makes some stupid decisions. As it is right now ... High tier BBs get a free pass when a mogami is shooting at them.- 156 replies
