It depends. The range is horrible, yes, but I tried to play it as a very heavy cruiser and sneaked around close to islands (with company of another cruiser vs DD) and was often able to get really close to enemy CA or even BB and then her guns could do their work.

You are right in the case that he can't see you, but you stay visible (spotted) for him, if someone else from his team has a clear view on you (could also be a plane) -
Like most other people I'm very unhappy with the paper-armor of the german cruisers, so i became curious, because it would be very strange if the KM and nazis really used those weak armors on their ships. In fact, the armor of the german ships was about the rate you see ingame. But the germans had some very good reasons for it! They supported their armor with smart placing of coal/water storage to support the armor and thus making the armor thicker with something you have on the ship either way, without using additional weight for thicker armor. German ships were with this method very durable and most of them also used excellent sectioning to avoid flooding damage becoming fatal. Some cases even report about ships who have taken in 2500 tons of water and still made it back to harbour. A well-known example is the Bismarck, who got ripped to pieces by multiple ships, but they still weren't able to sink it (the crew opened the sea-ventiles to end the massive shooting), because the watertanks were placed behind the armor of critical components, providing additional armor and a primitive anti-fire-system (also damping explosions). So while the german ships were light armored compared to other nations, the smart set-up of different components made their effective armor more than competitive, but this is not implemented in the game.

Yes, it does happen in the german cruisers, especially when i drive broadsite to a equal or higher tier BB. they overpen and mostly get citadels when i drive towards them, when the ship is long enough for AP to explode inside.

I had the same thing with my personal stats. noobing around at ~1000 average xp and suddenly a heavy drop to 770. I thought it was the german cruisers, because i played them exclusive, maybe 2 or 3 matches with fuso or zuiho. The interesting part: my average damage dropped barely (only 400 less, this could be drawn back to the ger cruisers). So why is there such a huge drop, while the damage stayed nearly the same? http://warshipstats.com/eu/player/myrmix (i don't really care about my stats as long as i have fun, so feel free to criticise xD)

If someone is interested: I compared the T6-cruiser Nürnberg (one of the more decent ships in the line) with the (until know) weakest armors from the IJN. So the first (citadel)armor that is worse than the Nürnberg's is actually the T2 cruiser of the japanese. Even the Tenryu has more citadelarmor! And it's not really getting better with the so called heavy cruisers York, Hipper and Hindenburg, who can't compare to the armor of equal ships from USN and IJN. I don't know if that was intended, but it's just very disturbing to give the ships the weakest armor ingame together with guns without punch.

Since today, I'm crashing at the end of every match to desktop. It crashes always before the matchreport is shown. My system is: Windows 7 Professional SP1 Intel-Core i5-2500K, 8GB RAM AMD R9 280 3GB Because it happens every match since today, it's kinda annoying. I didn't have trouble with the game until now.

Use the flag you get as "reward" for being blown up. it reduces the chance to get detonation by 100%. It will happen again in the future, but it's rare enough.

It's funny how bad the balance really is. I always play my Zuiho very defensive and try to fight always above friendly AA. But the fun part is, even then i have no chance against their fighters. I once battled a squad of bogue-fighters above 2 new yorks and a furutaka (not the best AA, but combined at least a cleve). I lost my whole squad and the bogue 1 of his 6 planes. and my captain is skilled with everything fighterrelated (without skill 5), all modules of the ships are for survivability of planes. It's just ridicculus to send your planes against US atm, because even a divebomber-squad can take out 2-3 planes from your fighters. And the best part: my fighter-ammunition isn't even enough to take on 2 TB/DB-squads without reload, while US-fightersquad can rip your whole setup (16 planes) apart without reload. The only reason why i play IJN-carrier is, because there is no reward for killing planes. But when I think about it..with 2 TB you can hit a maximum of 5 torpedos with a really good hit. US-carriers often get this with 1 squad, because their spread is actually good and have air-superiority. I hope something changes soon, because until then i will park my CV in the dock..or i switch to US-cv -
Back on topic: I would be interested in the structure or hierachy of WG. How are the different communities organized? EU seems to be the same bunch (i met at least 3 community-manager in vienna), but do they communicate with teams from NA, RU, etc? Or are they more connected with the headquarter? I guess moderators like bigbadvuk are volunteers, or do they get paid for their work?

Sie haben größtenteils sehr gute Feuerraten und schnelle Projektile, was aber durch den sehr schwachen Schaden und niedrige Chance auf Feuer wieder wettgemacht wird. Ansonsten fahren sie sich unterdurchschnittlich: Manche sind schnell (genug), aber alle teilen einen großen Wenderadius. Panzerung ist schwach bis gar nicht vorhanden (Sogar einige US- oder Russen-DDs können dir Zitadellen drücken, wenn du Breitseite fährst). Flugabwehr auf niedrigen Tiers ist traurig, verglichen mit anderen, allerdings bessert sich das bei Tier 7-10, die Hindenburg hat dann die stärkste Flugabwehr der Kreuzer. -
Maybe we can cooperate with the other european countries? would make more impact, when all eu-forums are adressing the problem. I don't speak french, but maybe someone could communicate with the threadopener (maybe he also speaks english)

Funny, my clan members advice to skip the York, because of the awful bad turret-turning-rate (52.something seconds...that's same like the Fuso!). While she can do some damage with 210mm, i'm not sure you can keep up aiming in front of DD's. (thanks Capt. Obvious, i must have been confused.)

@MrFingers: Sounds a lot like how the EU would discuss something *refugeecough* I would recommend some managers who are only responsible for ingame-events and translating news, while the others can keep up their roadtrip through europe. There should of course be feedback between them, but then you would actually have some guys who have the time to get ingame-events started. Should be affordable with wargaming's new bundles to pay 5 more guys?

Just wanted to thank the guys who thought, they should let us keep the additional port slots for the new starterships. Makes things easier, because a lot of people have yet very limited place for the ships they want to keep. Maybe you can throw in a discount for port slots soon?

maybe you scored a hit to the front, where the armor is angled, but not as much as the sides. and it seems the armor even at the angled front is terrible enough to not slow your AP enough, that exploded in his citadel. kinda sad

I'm just hoping they made the german line this bad to scare of people and don't have only german ships floating around for 1 week or more.
