I remember you from randoms as a good player. Theoretically it could work, but I assure you it does not work in real life ranked. You just cannot pick a fight with a Grozo or Z (unless u have support while he has not) Of course I speak only about r1-5, as until r5 is a roflstomp cakewalk anyways, that I always do that in some fun ship I like.

I am still traumatized by the bastion mode. Hopefully that thing never returns. As for new maps and reworking old ones WG has my eternal vote. The more the better. -
My top picks are: Giulio Gremmy Oktober Bogue / Zuiho (bit dependant on meta, preferred if there is a heavy BB spam) Decent ones: Kamikaze (yes, average players will fall to gunboat DDs like flies) Marblehead / Murmansk (not if heave BB meta stands) Nicholas (with CV support) Also Acasta with hydro can be interesting. EDIT: noob me Silver ships will definitely suffer this season.

The usual Yamato will either sit bow in with 6 guns facing the27km away cap, or will be farmed by HE CAs. Republic can quickly disengage and relocate, while has the same punishing (if not more) capacity. Even a GK is more useful while going close in with hydro and soaking up some dmg and deal maybe less dmg than Yama. Same goes for Zao vs DM. Just look at the winrates of the ships. Of course the cap control / cap defence ships or the close support ones are on top. Not the dmg farmer snipers. They are secondary support things. There are also a lot of neutral ships, like Montana, Hindenburg, Gearing, etc. Jack of all trades, master of none. Ranked is about the victory and not only dmg thing. If you cannot indirectly influence cap control you are selfish for me. DMG farming needs a long time to pay off, and mostly the battles are decided in the first 5-10 minutes (ofc there are exceptions) If I could pick 2 CAs instead of 2 BBs I would take them hands down.

Then imagine one team made of Yamatos, Shimakazes, Henry4s, Zaos, smoke Minos and Khabarovsks only. Other team is made of Republics, Moskvas, HIndenburgs, Z52s, Grozovois and radar YYs. Intentionally have not picked CVs, Stalin or Wooster. With equal player skill and usual map positioning / roles what do you think what will happen in ranked? Of course it is always easier to pick a "selfish" dmg farmer for yourself and "let" the others do the dirty work of capping or decapping. The fist one will secure his star, while the second one has to go "all in" for victory. That is the point of my story here.

The season is frustrating as per usual because of the horrendous numbers of glue eaters in every rank. Even though you see a good ship in your team it is not guaranteed that not a glue eater drives it. Personally I would headshot all the players that even try to play "selfish" dmg farming ships (Shima, Yamato, Zao, Conqeror, smoke Mino, etc) for saving stars instead of cap control and victory. Use proper tools like Grozovoi, YY, Z52, DM, Wooster, Stalin, Moskva, Rep, Montana or CV.

Consider this ranked battle setup: Team A: 1afker, 1 unicorn, 4 glue eaters, 2 potatoes Team B: 2 glue eaters, 4 potatoes, 1 average joe Of course team B will win unless some super rare apocalyptical thing happens. Except that the MM managed to torture the single unicorn, the glue eaters will not even notice anything. They will continue they gaming session as before. Glue eaters in the mm + no respawn = snowball effect (that can be prevented by unicorns sometimes, but not in general)

I should have elaborated a bit more in detail. Let me "introduce" a new class, below the potatoes: Note that I am not talking about people with mental or physical (health) limitations. Sorry if somebody had been insulted by my previous post, it was not meant for them. I was talking about the "glue eaters" with like 45% win rates after 10k battles and similar. The glue eaters will afk, yolo, camp, bot, be toxic and will never understand the game mechanics. Also they will never learn, and they will never accept that they are the problem but will whine on the forums and will always find some external explanation why it is someone else's fault. The glue eaters will constantly ruin the game of unicorns, average joes and even ascending potatoes as well. And one more important thing: they will probably never spend a single coin on their "beloved" game to support the development. Put in short: I would exclude those malignant "glue eaters" from any sort of PvP. They can "have fun" in PvE against "non cheating" bots.
