For new and other struggling players
Beastofwar replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in Videos & Streams
Well camping is the way to survive longer, and surviving longer is the key to more kills and higher damage. That is why it is easier to get above average damage scores in CV as well : they just survive longer as a rule. That is who so many player in higher tiers attempt to camp.....and even get the tools with extremely long range guns and fire mechanics to do so. -
@Wargaming - Captain rework feedback - BB Secondary
Beastofwar replied to Defianted's topic in General Discussion
It is also my premium.....but if that thing has received such a stupid boost to secondary accuracy that all other BB need to sail around with drunken spraying secondaries - EVEN WITH A FULL SECONDARY BUILD !! - and cannot be mass boosted with captain skill because that would give Massa rail gun secondaries it is a very bad thing. Then again they don't need to nerf the Massa or boost secondary accuracy for all ships via a captain skill by a large margin.......they then need to chance the accuracy value of all other ships except the Massa and the German Premium CV. -
Why playing low tier is not attractive
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
Another reason why we need low tier operations...to free new players of the plane scourge. Could prevent a lot of new potential paying customers leaving the game right there and then.....it is in WG's interest too. -
@Wargaming - Captain rework feedback - BB Secondary
Beastofwar replied to Defianted's topic in General Discussion
But range does nothing except once in a while hitting with a stray shell. You already need to be in < 6 km for any ship before the most accurate secondaries hit anywhere reliable. Increasing range and spraying around won't give anyone satisfaction in a secondary build. You should be able at heavy loss of other skills - to prevent everyone and their mother taking it - be able to have an EFFICIENT = ACCURATE secondary build. On ships other then Massachussets. -
Naval Battles Ribbons count - question

Yet doing it in a fragile DD is risky.......i would not try to cap constest with DD having the option enabled. -
Manfred von Richthofen's bombers are OP?
Beastofwar replied to Warrior_16101991's topic in General Discussion
About time in port info screen they pull up the maximum rocket, bomb and torpedo damage on aircraft isn't it ? The numbers are right there, as well as the number of wepons per drop. And they are damned LOW and therefore must STACK. Example : Amagi AP salvo : 10x 12600 = 126k (!) potential damage per 30 seconds. Kagero torpedo salvo = 8 x 20967 - 168k (!) potential damge per 112 seconds Enterprise AP bomb attack 2 passes = 6x 4900 = 29k potential damage per ~120 seconds.( = travel time + time peforming 2 passes ) So what the hell are the complainers talking about ???? They can't recognise when they blow up they are under 30 % HP to be killed by a CV in the first place ?? And do not start most AP shells and torpedo's miss or don't do maximum damage......that is exactly the same for the paltry 4900 damage bombs...... The whole difference is many CV get to do damage all match long ( = stack the damage as explained so many times ) so their damage will add to higher then 80K numbers. Nothing good player piloted BB or DD cannot pass easily. In fact when piloting a DD sneaking through gaps in the enemy line to launch torpedo's at camper BB i only need to hit 2 BB with a few torpedo's to see the counter soar up to 100+ K damage. Something a CV will have to work for all match long.....a DD in a sense too as it needs a lot of time and patience to sneak into position undetected, but it gets it's damage not by stacking chipping damage.......but by sudden extreme alpha damage as every torpedo can pack the power of 4 AP bombs.....and a torpedo salvo of ~4 torpedos 4x4 =16 AP bombs.....and Kagero lauches 8 so that is 32 AP bombs. CV power is laughable compared to a DD used with actual skills. Every ship however "trash" it is branded has a few players that get insane scores with it. You can check that on 3rd party stat sites. So when getting clapped, it is probably the player and not the ship that served you your behind. Whoever blames CV for being overpowered or game ruining should play them themselves....and probably admit in shame they cannot even get it to 40K..... -
Manfred von Richthofen's bombers are OP?
Beastofwar replied to Warrior_16101991's topic in General Discussion
Devils advocate ? I use all ship classes combined 80 % more then i use CV class. If there was really a problem with CV i would be among the complainers too.....but allas, this is not the case. I also can identify what the few overly adept CV players can do is not representative of what CV player do in general. If these few players were to be meaningful, every class would have a problem.....as every class and every ship has extreme score players. You can't nerf ships on their performance. So it is obvious why WG does not do that and acts on AVERAGE performance. There was a time when you could be top 1 position scoring on a CV every singe match when being an above average player. Those times are long gone too.In fact i personally succeed in doing that with DD much more while not even sinking ships per definition. While droves of complainers explode < 3 minutes and blame radar and CV. Could it maybe be their way of playing ? -
@Wargaming - Captain rework feedback - BB Secondary
Beastofwar replied to Defianted's topic in General Discussion
I think when going through all the info on the captain skills - the more usefull info on that being on NA server - it become apparent WG wants all ships to fight at closer ranges except for ships that are specifically designed for sniping long range. At the same time fire chance is reduced and using torpedo's encouraged = encouraging Cruisers fighting at closer ranges when they want to fight Battleships. When encouraging most ship types to fight at closer ranges it would be counter-productive to punish them with accurate secondary batteries......so WG probably figured out what was needed to not make secondary batteries no greater threat then they are now. Now what i think is unfair to those enjoying secondary builds is the extreme variation in ship specific secondary battery accruracy before it is affected by captain skills. A manual secondary skilled Massachussets can kill a DD with only using secondaries well before a same tier DD can : 28 seconds. An IFHE Massachussets can rip apart most Cruisers in it's secondary range too. And if not enough can fire over islands with high arcs too. But when that is practically any other BB, with the UK and IT ones as worst examples, that would require over 3 minutes of continuous firing to killa DD's worth of HP. It seems now every BB must suffer rediculous weak secondaries only to prevent Massachussets and Graf Zeppeling becoming an insane OP secondary monster. I think they should nerf the Massachussets and Graf Zeppelin and buff overall BB to a more or less usable overall accuracy, so when taking a secondary build that will do something for ALL type of BB or even Cruisers with lots of scondaries. I have no objection some nations or ships being better at it, but not with these insane perfomance gaps. Afterall secondary batteries added weight would never have been applied to ships if they were as useless for most ships as they are in game ! -
Remove spotting from this foched up CV class

What Taffy 3 support carrier Wildcats did is no modern combat......that is strafing Battleships and Heavy Cruiser with mere .50 guns. No Hollywood. -
Remove spotting from this foched up CV class
Beastofwar replied to 22cm's topic in General Discussion
No there are well describes battles where air supriority fighters swept the decks of major ships to kill AA crew and wreck AA guns to grant divebombers and torpedo bombers a better chance of delivering fatal blows. This obviously happend in battles where air supriority was no issue becase there was no enemy fighter presence. The most famous example being Yamato during the Ten-go suicide mission. Other then that dozens if not more Destoyers on all combattant sides fell victims to aircraft guns. -
Manfred von Richthofen's bombers are OP?
Beastofwar replied to Warrior_16101991's topic in General Discussion
He didn't and couldn't survive this RTS style CROSSDROP what ever he did......Is that OP ? It isn't the Manfred von Richthofen AP bombers though...... Still this unsurvivable strike is just finishing off a ship that was already low HP just as i explained earlier with the chipping damage that must stack, or can kill only low HP targets. There is no way to blap a full HP ship unless a rocket, bomb or torpedo actually reached the magazine. And that is the same for any munition type of any ship..... -
I didn't want to post this, but....
Beastofwar replied to Hopeless_Guppy's topic in General Discussion
I struggle with many type Cruisers too.. The thing is IRL they were meant to fight their own class Cruiser only. That is why their armour was only as thick as needed to withstand their own caliber guns. They would not be used in confrontations with battleships unless from a safe distance to shadow them. There were confrontations but those all had a pressing reason to disregard that rule. Many of the largest and famous battles in the Pacific that did not include Aircraft Carriers as main participants were Cruiser fleet against Cruiser fleet, which would also include many Destroyers. Yet in this game wo do not get to fight own Class Cruiser and run from Battleships ( can't because of the maps edge ) and WG made up a partly fantasy system of being able to burn Battleships to the waterline so Cruisers at range can become as dangerous as Battleships but when hit can be deleted by battleship guns. I have no problem with the smoke cruisers ( any type smoke ) i have no problem with the agile Cruisers........but i do have problems with Cruisers lacking range, concealment, agility and smoke. When you want more range with them and they offter the 16 % more range slot your visibility after firing also becomes that much greater. I only can survive rarely firing at opportune enemies and then go balck for longer periods. But then my score and victory contribution will suck... I hate the need to have to hide behind islands with US and English Cruisers and fire over them or past them, and what the hell to do with the enormous lenght Russian Cruisers that have Battleship turn radiusses AND paper armour ?? -
What changes are you looking forward to? [POLL]
Beastofwar replied to OldSchoolFrankie's topic in General Discussion
I look foreward to all changes.....keeps me in this game for longer. Lots to learn still about the current classes and mechnics but thousands of battles become boring quick if nothing ever changes. -
[Poll] How many lines with "Tier X" have you reset for the "Research Bureau" thus far?
Beastofwar replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Maybe a noob question but do you get 10k research points for resetting a 2nd line or only some research points if you play the ships from t6 on ? 1st time i see this stuff... -
[Poll] How many lines with "Tier X" have you reset for the "Research Bureau" thus far?
Beastofwar replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
With the avalanche of flags & signals i was able to reset a line. I actually do not want to part with my CV's or DD's so it had to be Sovier Cruisers. Not because i like them.....because i don't understand a thing about these paper armour light gun cruisers...and it would not be a bad thing to relearn what i missed. And i won't miss the T7,T8 and T9 RU light Cruisers while going up the line anytime soon before i learned how they play. -
Ah...i found what WG will probably use. Aichi M6A. The ones from the weird I-401 submarine that was supposed to sneak attack on american soil. It indeed could carry a Type 91 torpedo. Or 2x 250 kg bombs or 1x 850 kg bomb. And no scy fy plane either...one still exists, That ofcourse enables WG to present other strange ships further down the line, when submarines are in game ofc...
-
It did launch these.....250 kg bomb load. That is either 1 x 250 kg 2 x 100 kg 4x 60 kg With 2 attacking planes with the rest flying in reserve as usual that would be dropping a minimum of 2 medium and a maximum of 8 light bombs per pass. While 250 kg is unsuitable for large armoured ships it is well suited for attacking Destroyers and Light Cruisers in game. But IRL it's main purpose was to be the eyes of the fleet and only bomb unarmed ships or surfaced subs. And since WG is into "what if" planes and ships too : an Achi E16A floatplane dive bomber ( with air brakes ) also 250 kg payload. Which were launched by Ise
-
I bet 60 kg bombs are more then enough to seriously damage or outright wreck a DD. The Navy Type 97 Number 6 (60 kg) is a Japanese general-purpose bomb. Japanese bombs are similar to Italian bombs in regards to construction as multiple components are either screwed, riveted or welded together as opposed to being a one-piece construction. The bomb is filled with 23 kg of TNT. Compared to to 127 mm shells that weigh about 24-25 kg and have a much smaller explosive charge.....

Maybe adressing one of their bigger EU markets with many customers ? You need large countries where people are not poor on average to sell lots of copies of your ( expensive for such small digital game content ) ships to.....

What asymmetric battles taught me
Beastofwar replied to StanleyHTweedle's topic in General Discussion
"AA does not work BOOOHOOO" "CV ruin my game BOOOHOOO" Well judging from 3 human CV against 2 tier higher AA it damn well does do damage..... What a turkey shoot ....Even the DD shot 33 of them and i regret they avoided me and i could only get some in maximum range. -
What asymmetric battles taught me
Beastofwar replied to StanleyHTweedle's topic in General Discussion
It taught me i have ships in port of which i forgot how effective they can be, because they got in disuse somehow. I did press 3 in vain again, so i have some idea..... It broke the damned 1600 base XP barrier of the Epoch container tasks i was stuck on for 3 days aswell......never figured that some ship could do that in this mode, and i needed a Tier VIII+ CV or DD in randoms for it. 203 mm SAP shells seem to hit very hard on Tier V and VI DD and Cruisers, including Graf Spee. -
Remove spotting from this foched up CV class
Beastofwar replied to 22cm's topic in General Discussion
Yeah i was just reading that, and the role of Cunningham in sailing right past the drowning survivors of the wrecks of Acasta, Ardent and Glorious....because the Norwegian Royal Family was on board.... This dude is one of my commanders in game.... One time thing sinking a CV like that though...and if you read through the wiki article it becomes obvious why it happend in the first place as CV are not supposed to travel with light escorts. And after that probably never did. -

Beastofwar replied to 22cm's topic in General Discussion
Aviation fuel vapour explosions form damaged tanks did destroy many CV, but : - It were CV and submarines that did that to them - hours if not a day after an attack.....wanna wait for that ? -
I did And so far i am concerned you represent the vocal minority. Of which some simply should refrain from paying higher then Tier II/III as that is the game they seem to enjoy without planes, radar, submarines, hydro and whatever kills them exept shell lobbing and torpedo spamming.

"long" range flame thrower nozzle that can't take return fire.....it almost sounds like the characteristics of Sm.....
