    I ran into such problems aswell......not able to penetrate Cruiser broadsides and at surprising close range. That ships AP seems designed to rake superstructures for damage only ( or be efficient vs DD with AP ? ) ....so it can herass enemy ships for 60k+ damage, but only when they let it do that.

    So there was something about the Kitakaze specifically : it fires very small ( 100 mm ) shells. That do arm on DD hulls - even broadside - and not fly through overpenetrating for minimal damage as i thought. The (older) information on AP penetration of WG mentions the shell would travel aproximatly 10 meters inside the ship before detonating. The larger higher tier DD seem to be somewhere around ~12 meters wide. So maybe this AP firing on DD is something that becomes viable at higher tiers only, as they are larger ships ? Or is it shorter fuses also ? Why does the game not list such important details ? Game keeps amazing me.

    I got to thouroughly test that in training room as i must master this too.....and +7,5 % AP damage does not seem to be a thoughtless skippable skill afterall. thnx for the answers.

    So he was either a stone cold professional with much higher skill then anything i encountered in 3 ranked seasons......or a wild gambler that got a winning bet ? Or did the Kitakaze have anything to do with it too, such as having trust in so much shells being fired you can afford to be on the angle limit of most of them bouncing but the ones going in do major damage ? Funny to be confronted with ever deeper layers of skill when you think you are doing quite well......
  5. I have no idea what it is like to operate tier X without premium account, perma camo ( most Tier X i have are coal, RB and steel ) and ( max level ) clan building bonusses anymore. So i won't judge players without all that as being "noobs that need to git gut" or the high tier economy being "far too forgiving" I still need to get at least 28 Tier X tech tree ships which is ~840 million credits to buy and module. And i still have tier IX ships that have no modules and thus can't be used untill the get them. Also multi million credits needed. I make on average +200k credits profit ( after costs are deducted ) per match which still pales when you project that against figures like 840 million to get all the tier X tech tree ships, coming from tier IX.

    Islands....they block enemy spotting and shelling. You can use them to go foreward* and not be on fire all the time. * different then camping behind islands being completely useless. "The purpose of a military unit is not surviving. It's purpose is to fullfill its mission."

    And yes i killed that Friesland too......after already killing another DD and sinking that Musashi. "DD dev strikes are not that common"......riigghht What do you call a class that can take out half an enemy team in a match ? And worst of all controlled by a player with hidden stats, so if he can do do that, this class must be....."brokenly OP" ? Almost there btw...all in ranked.

    - Fire prevention Expert : not a priority in brawling BB as you cannot live being hosed down by a wall of HE lobbing enemies anyway. Use islands to approach area's where you will fight. - Concealment Expert : useless in bawling BB as you must fight medium-close range ( main guns are nerfed for long range fighting in trade of stronger secondaries and/or torpedo's in such ships ) and cannot be concealed fighting right in the face of medium-close range enemies anyway. Use islands to block enemy detection and/or gunfire when you approach. For medium-close range combat you do need : Fast reloading main guns Fast reloading secondaries Torpedo protection Damage control ( against flooding ) & Repair skills But the most important of all : tactics must support the build and the ship's base value's must support tactics and build. Can't turn a long range sniper into a brawler, or brawler into a long range sniper. When you attempt that anyway you lose efficiency as WG "balanced" the ship to perform in a certain role.

    Yes that is how the world works.....evolution. You either adapt ( selection of the most fit ) or disappear ( i guess by stopping playing the game out of frustration ) Evolution is what causes controllable plane Cruisers and BB to get introduced in the game. And submarines. And more in future. You can't stop it. You can't revert back to where the game was many years ago. Stop complaining ( or not but it is useless ) and fill the forums with actually helpfull stuff that helps others play the game better and enjoy it !

    Yes and the enemy had neither CV or radar ships = counter mechanisms to stop me and the other from winning the match by simply taking caps once their DD were dead. This is exactly my point....how do you think these surviving enemy BB felt being COMPLETELY DEFENCELESS vs invisible DD ??? That is why there must be CV and radars.

    This is what happens when anti-DD mechanics are missing....yet another glorious victory so easily achieved ( explains the ranked WR you dont want to accept ) ...only had to kill a DD for it and take the caps. And even then i felt cheated out of torpedoing all these defencless yummi BB that clipped each other.

    What can one say if anti-CV haters are oblivious to valid ( WG thinks at least ) anti CV tactics ? What on earth will you do when submarines and controllable plane carrying Cruisers and BB enter the game instead of CV getting removed as you wish ? Disappear like the noble knights that could not ban crossbows or prevent firearms being devoloped i suppose.....

    Which is why many CV having 5 km self defence guns is rediculous beyond reasoning as well, ignoring the fact these can't even hit a barn door at stone throwing disance to begin with. It is even worse for CV with inefficent weapons vs DD like FDR that faces 50+ knot DD with large HP pools. The devs do not want to listen to that either, as they think CV must be able to be easily taken out by high speed dedicated DD wolf packs as a valid anti CV tactic. Protesting against that has a much potential als whining CV must be removed from game or nerfed to hell.

    Actually depenends how you play it..... Full secondary builds on brawling BB are only usefull when fighting at close ranges as their main guns got usually nerfed in accuracy making them horrible to fight at long range, and to fight at close ranges with a BB you must have gotten there with your HP pool still intact. So can you approach enemies witout being burned down by a wall of HE lobbing Cruisers and BB , torpedoed by lurking DD and (light) Cruisers or focussed by a CV ? Such ships in fact need mid-late match conditions in randoms where the wall of HE lobbing enemies is dispersed or killed and close range fighting ensues over caps with other ships then DD that you should not engage. That said there are probably very few players that explored what torpedo warning/dampening skills and modules can do for them approaching with island cover that are more likely to be sunk by DD or Cruiser torpedo's then burned down in the open, since that HE lobbing is then blocked and anti-fire builds are less useful. Specialized builds do well in specialized situations only. Can you force those situations onto enemies often ? That is the question.

    Lets turn this around.....those players with purple stats that still complain about CV......why are they not rocketted, bombed and torpedoed to have deep red stats if CV is as terrible and OP as they claim ? Or does the CV by any chance do not affect them as much as they cry about ? I know the answer. It is in my ranked stats ( in DD ) you do not want to accept. I know also CV is so much hated, not because it is too powerful or too influential in a match, but because it kills purple WR and red WR players indiscriminately. It is the equivalent of the crossbow fired by a peasant killing the noble knight. In that, it is truely a game balancing factor.... ( Yeah crossbows were banned by the church too, because we could not have noble kights killed by peasants could we.......yeah that ban did not work out either, and later more advanced weapons even lead to noble knights disappearing altogether....great paralells with future introductions of new classes and mechanisms in WOWS, and players who do not want to adapt )

    But i am now totally into DD's man....i have a ranked WR that i could only dream of with CV. Guess which must be the unbalanced, overpowered class then...... And as a DD player i should probably mewl about CV......but these are no threat in most matches. The most logical reason is that that CV has a chance of 1 in 3 ( if 3 DD are in match ) of actually bothering me and not the other 2 !

    I am at a loss how overall damage must prove if ships are instantly killed or not. Death by a thousand cuts causes more damage because the target could repair HP back.... CV aerial torpedo's are much weaker then ship launched torpedo's. That is a fact.

    And CV devstrike how often ? I place my bet on DD.... But i think it is funny DD are not hated more then CV, because invisible enemies cowardly making sneaky very late visible attakcs that can instanly sink you ( opposed to the weak aerial torpedo's of CV ) would drive me into anger much more. But as i said...many DD players have such low skill they are dead ( < 3 minutes ) before they even can do that to BB. That must be the true reason players hate CV so much more : these are still around to herass BB while much more dangerous DD are already resting in the sea bed.

    I would repair WOWS with forcing every new and existing player to work through increasingly difficult tutorials ( every tier a new set learning the mechanisms introduced in that tier ) in the class he wishes to use in game. Creating players with better understanding and ability to deal with counter mechnisms that work against them, and able to better peform the things they should actually do. It works in many other games....i fondly think of a game where you needed to use all abilities of a class in the right way ( proving you mastered that class ) to pass the test to be allowed into more demanding parts of the game. These tests were for solo players, no help possible to skip without being worthy of passing.

    In combination with Kuzenetzovs emergency heal it killed countless enemies that already uncorked their champagne over it's sinking. That is it's own has high amusement value. It also must be the ship that has performed most ramming kills on my account, as it is quite hard to put down before it touches the enemy ship even if multiple enemy allies try to prevent it. The guns have obliterating fire power at closer ranges.

    You mean when did you last take out Asashio ? Since the "get 120 torpedo hits or floods" directive of the dockyard. I whaled ZF-6 early so each stage is is 200 steel and 3000 coal. I am doing the torpedoing in ranked, as i want that steel and doubloons too. At 100 hits exactly now. Most of them on BB ofcourse as they easy to hit and i use a lot of Pan Asian = stealthy and very heavy damage DW torpedos. Maybe CV are bothersome to BB, but they should really fear DD. The fact this BB player does not do that says something about the general skills of most DD players doesn't it ? I guess he thinks it's normal DD players die < 3 minutes so can't be a threat to him.
