    I think it is to be used as a BB only launching it's planes when enemies limping behind islands as your guns can't reach them there to finish them off. As a Cv main i have been using the planes way too much because i enjoy them ( the rocket assisted lauch, jettisoning these rockets in the water and all ) and my score is abmyssal.

    And who can then say skilling into AA or choosing a fighter or DFAA consumable is "non viable" then eh ? But some do seem to have sawdust filler in their head instead of brains.....THESE PLANES LOWER DPM OF THE ONE USING IT !!!! The only benefit could be finishing off an enemy your guns can't reach because he just limped behind an island. This will give you a kill that someone else might have gotten, not produce monster scores. How do you figure skies filled with planes after the new experience effect has lifted and things normalize again as they always do ? And players discovering these ships will lower their daamge, their "carry" potential and most likely WR ?

    Stop this. Instead petition WG to return the mode that has everything you want ! Exclusively shell lobbing at other boats. No complex mechanisms that you don't understand or can't deal with. Funfun fun !!

    They have listened carfully to complaints where AA skill builds and modules, or equipping fighters instead of spotter planes or DFAA instead of other consumables were felt as non viable, because you could not count on planes being in the match and your build or consumable choice being dead weight....... SOLVED ! ( at least in T6 range )

    Show me the server statistics where they rack up insane damage and have WR;s that go through the roof......there will NEVER be any such data.... Haven't it sunk in the planes actually REDUCE the damage a BB can do ?

    I see the usual players react asif face slapped that can't even be reliably hit by ISE in their so loved DD's. WG could have equipped the controllable catapult planes with rockets.....THEN would you have a cause to moan and mewl.

    I wonder if there will be any CC sreaming and foaming at the mouth about this ship......"OOOH GOOOOD LOOK AT THIS" "WG YOU REALLY HAVE DONE IT OMG AAARGHHH" It won't happen as most of these can't even play CV planes efficently ( because it requires no skill l) and even when they do they nerf their main gun DPM that is already missing a pair anyways. "OOOOOH AAAAAHH OVERPOWAHred" would make them look redicuolus. No doubt having gone through a learning curve these ships can do well......but OP ? Never. There will be probably the usual anti-CV reactions too.....because they hate to be hit by planes instead of main guns. But these are rediculous in my opinion too, the more so because my screenshots perfect attack cuased minimal damage to that BB that happily continued where it was going. It would probably not have done that with a 10 x 356 AP broadside.....

    Historically legit, in game acting as a nerf to it's damage potential, especially in Operations or Coop. And to some degree ( when it would have 140 mm's and full secondary specced ) in PvP self defence or offensive support against DD and Light Cruisers. The torpedo catapult planes are unsuitable to effectively fight these small and agile ships. And the main guns are ofcourse to slow to be able to track close range DD.

    And there is another thing.... It cannot be build as a secondary enhanced ship. ( Operations bot) DD's are going to love that and it's Operations score will be lowered considerably. I know it is historical.

    It is BRILLIANT !! - You LOWER your DPM when you use planes ( traveling far = 0 damage + missing main gun salvo's ) so it is not overpowered in any way - The torpedo's do low damage - BB players can have a taste of "skilless CV play" by having to dodge FLAK themseves and lining up torpodoes in an efficent way on their evading brethren. Lets see how skilless they think it is after some learning curve eh ? Looks frightinging...but the damage is far lower then an AP main gun salvo you could have done instead. And look at my damage and match contribution at that time in the match......is it that easy to use (or get used to )

    Hizen actually being able to duel a Mushashi and win that. Do note the secondary battery brought in 10k direct damage +13k fire damage too of 184k damage total. Can't be held accountable for what the rest of the team did....i did more then enough. In such cases you get to keep your star.
  15. In one of the official development notes is mentioned that DD will lose their hydrophones. Is that only meant for in a test setting ? Or will they actually handicap DD that depend on it to hunt rival DD in smoke or not be torpedoed while in smoke ? Will these DD get radar as compensation ? Will they get back hydrophones with changed characteristics ? What gives ?

    I extremely like it : because i build and play my Brawler BB as actual Brawlers = CQC. And for that you first need to reach optimal as close as possible fighting range with a servicable HP pool. When the effect hits it is the signal to agressively close in unmolested and emerge at ranges where campers ( Cruisers and BB alike ) cannot avoid to take medium-close range catastrophic main gun salvo's and be flamethrowed by high ROF enhanced scondaries....that even fire to both sides nowadays so you can have burning enemies around you while you plough through them, not fearing a good ramming if it is a favorable HP exchange. Does not happen that way ? Yes it does...campers hate to be engaged close range...they want to rack up damage all match without taking damage. They want to run away and reach safe concelment to camp again. But their program just got screwed. Without that reduced vision you have to rely on the map having enough well placed islands to close in. That is normal, reduced vision is a bonus. Laughable is that complaining about reduced vision is admitting you are a camper : only ships that are lobbing shells at long range targets are affected. But it is not only your DPM that is lowered as you have no targets.....horrible things can come out of the mist and kill you........ask the vikings...they were affraid of the mist too. Btw : and yes, for many type less concealed DD it is a feast also. CV are not really affected either, just somewhat less spotted damage score as own sides campers can't shoot long range either. Same for DD. Conclusion : camper problem ( or is it punishment ? )

    1 second every half a minute ? That strikes me as just a correction to overall statistical server damage for the ship. Is that really necessary ? Well WG seems to think so. It however is very strange - infuriating even when you think longer on it - they immediatly nerf new premium ships that arent even OP while leaving completly unfair 100 % OP older premums exactly as they are. Even worse : global nerf every ship of that class just to tone down such actually OP premiums a bit.

After killing lots of enemy DD relatively easy with DD's like Ostergotland and Chung Mu i ran into a quite unremarkbale looking tech tree Kitakaze that to my surprise fired white shells at me ( AP ) and reduced me to 0 in just 2 salvo's. I turned from "hah, that idiot is using the wrong ammo, i dont have to disengage" to "WTF just just happend ???" I know AP can fuse to explode inside DD at certain angles instead of overpenetrating it, and Kitakaze is quite dangerous with 8 rapid firing guns, outgunning my Ostergotland with almost twice the firepower. But i think there was more to it, like him possibly taking the improved +7,5 % damage AP shell skill ? Could that cause non-AP specialized ( non new German ) DD to do much more damage then they would firing HE ? He really meant to kill me with AP wich is to me still an uncommon tactic in DD as i dislike overpenetrations that do less damage then HE penetrations. Or did he pick up a skill or two in new German DD that are still locked to me ? I do have Fenyang that up to now did not really impress me with AP, and LWM review did mention the usable angles were quite hard to make work and could easily kill you instead. Maybe i believed it to extend that it became self fulfilling profecy ? When i click the +7,5 % damage AP shell skill the Kitakaze rises to 1828 damage while it does 1200 HE damage. Is it correct that full penetrations both AP and HE cause 33 % of listed damage ? So AP can easily beat HE when you can get it to penetrate and not overpenetrate ? Doing the same to ostergotland even increaes damage to 2311
  21. So this means the hydrophones on DD cannot be used to pick up vibrations at lower depth then ship launched torpedo's or enemy surface ship propellers and that part stays the same ? Always found it funny you can detect enemy ships in smoke that are not moving ( no rotating/cavitating popellers ) And the stuff this is about is actually sonar/asdic removed ? Is that a good thing for DD that actually had that stuff ?

    So you say.....i find Operations very usable to get the daily coal and steel without wasting time on a string of losses in PvP as the last 4 directives require a WIN. I often do not need it...but when i do the fast completion option is there. And reward comparible to randoms, so premiums can be made to gush credits and freeXP. Contrary to the lousy Coop economy....or losing random matches when you dont want to spend the time or getting frustrated over that. The ( mentioned, T6/T7 ) DD's still require considearble skill in Operations though as they are fragile and can't be seen for more then a few seconds. Low HP attracts bot fire, and DD already have low HP when they are 100 %. With BB such as Hyuga you can just wade through anything and let the bodies hit the floor. It requires very little skill but point the guns...and focus click the enemy you want the secondaries to snuff.....which can be relaxing at times i guess. For me it has considerable more value if a ship is usable in multiple game modes without sacrificing performance, and preferably with the same build ( captain, but those are free to move in premiums) So it has to be the T6/T7 DD's i guess. The BB is not really a PvP friendly ship, the ZF-6 cannot be used in Operations.

    Hyuga is overpowered in Narai, but will suffer in PvP when getting thrown in +2 tier matches as it only has 356 mm guns. The secondaries ( stock more accurate then standard ) are a major contribution to it's damage in Narai if you skill & module it full secondary and keep the secondaries in range whenver you can. So strong points that are not per definition 1:1 translatable in PvP. T61 and Haida perform well in Operations and PvP and are less susceptible to being the lowest tier in a match. ( 8 km ) topedoes always work and you can't shoot what you can't see. They might lose a gun race in a duel vs higher tier ships though as higher tier ones usually get more guns or higher ROF. 19 mm plating or less does not really matter as almost all guns can punch 19 mm anyway. It might even be beneficial to have only 16 mm vs the newer AP shooting DD that begin to enter matches as they will not arm and always overpenetrate. ZF-6 ? that is the new stuff that requires you to dynamically shift between AP and HE. It is however a gunship with rather unusable ( to hunt the big ships ) low 6 km torpedo range. I guess you are supposed to bring these to a ( DD vd DD) gunfight. It's gun reload boost can do nasty things like the French DD can but it is ofcourse no match for some DD that have continuous high ROF. I think you are really supposed to use AP as often as you can with it. Difficult to get used to ( for me )

    Leander and Perth are stronger as they have a much more valuable main gun in the place of impressive looking secondary turrets that cant have a secondary build anymore. They never did were that effective vs surface targets though. Not even vs Operations bots at very close ranges. Knowing WG they are supposed to be AA guns ofcourse. The barely if at all increase AA power.
