Who has closed their wallet because of 8.0?
Beastofwar replied to Migantium_Mashum's topic in Archive
Yes that works very well, and even better after te hotfix as turning after you start attack run wil have your torpoes go everywhere exept where you want them. Oddily enough that often causes hits that would miss when aimed, but oh well....most can eat a single torpedo with little damage. many in forum complain ( me too now ) but in game you see a lot of skilled players performing well despite all. I salute them. -
I understand Tiny Tim rockets are not intended to fire into DD and as a result accuracy won't allow for that save for a very lucky hit. But when fired on cruisers and even large battleships, and broadside and maximum slowed down, they fly off everywhere and practically cannot be aimed. If they do even hit, they cause so little damage that smaller rockets seem to be a far better idea as they at least hit and often set them on fire. On top of that ofcourse the fighters are easily wiped out by continuous AA damage as their small health pool cannot handle being near large ships. Will be even worse after the hotfix ! What is the point with these Tiny Tims, as fighters are already squishy to attack large ships with to begin with and have a very low chance to hit rewarding at least some of the effort ? Giving more reliable accuracy to hit large targets for Tiny Tims would take some pressure off DD as there is another target to damage or sink when using ( or having to use as other aircraft are on CD ) fighters , giving them some more breath. I'm ofcourse not suggesting more accurate heavier rockets to kill DD with easier. I'm sure server stats will show Tiny Tims being an unsatisfactory, very inaccurate weapon too. I'm sure the devs didnt want it too accurate, but i think doesnt't do what it is supposed to do.
-
You only fire 2 per fighter and only 2 fighters attack ( from Lex that is ) .......so you shoot a salvo of 4 that go off asif you were a gangsta rapper shooting a handgun upside down.....not hitting anything intendend. Now maybe that is very "US" style nowadays, but i learned to actually aim before shooting and hit the target.....i would like to be able to do that with Tiny Tims too.... If the pilot were to thow a rock out of his opened cockpit he probably would hit.....thats how inaccurate it is now. On top of that when 1 missile hits, it does very, very low damage. One would prefer firing smaller rockets in any situation, especially when they cause fire too. With smaller rockets 6 fo them often seem to hit on large targets, for minor but noticable damage. These however are better spend on "discouraging" enemy DD to cap.And even then DD seem to explode from other things then rockets when i obeserved.

CVs are crap now.WG normaly you would owe me 38k dbs
Beastofwar replied to Grumpy_Shark's topic in General Discussion
Could be deliberate to depopulate CV player group as they didn't expect the mass resentement of the effects of the rework, and want to prevent many, many upset players leaving, which are a FAR larger group then truely disgrunteled CV players now. Financials and all..... Still i dont see nerfing CV into the ground bodes well for their upcoming UK CV campaign. If no one want to play those you can't make many sales off it's campaign. So they are caught in a situation i am curious about how they plan to solve. What is worse in my opinion WG may have become very wary to repeat such consequences if it comes to introducing submarines. They now probably won't have the stones to do it. Shame as it would make the game even richer, but conservative players seem not to stomach it and be a majority that influences WG a lot. ( as they buy or not buy ) -
Don't they offer upgrades for that ? Sure not your choice as you can't then have things you think more important, but it there is a choice.
-
I am trying, as i said it to CV nerf complainers too....do you see me "threaten"" to deinstall the game ? Nope but it is unenjoyable to use CV right now. I didn't start playing yesterday, i know what it means to be thrown in high tier matches. But in other ships you can at least be somewhat effective, you always can lob HE at ships you can't damage otherwise. And torpedo's still can do damage too. Being blown out of the sky is diffrent. There is no work around since is it continuous AA thats doing this. Can't be dodged. Can't be fooled. I will be shooting down masses of aircraft in other ships too, just like you. Untill they "hotfix" another, hopefully more acceptable balance. They probably have to, can't imagine their UK CV event completely being unpopular.

You really think WG would spend months on working on UK CV, a campaign to promote it and CV mechanics rework to make them more popular just to make CV disappear ? Thought not.....but turning the balancing buttons untill they get it right does make one group after the other upset though...... -
Yes as now CV are being deplaned, very fast. Sure you will have some 2-3 aircraft per squadron left, but what so you think happens to those if full squadrons are shot out of the sky without achieving good results ? The problem ofcourse is it will depopulate the CV player group, while WG is just before release of an important marketing event with (UK) CV......
-
Silly WG....they manage to dissapoint one group of players after another. Woudn't like to be in the shoes of those responsible as keeping customers happy is their income. But they did present very beautiful ships, their customer servce has helped me well in the past, and i'm sure they do all they can to find the right balance. I won't stop playing ( other ships temporarly ) over this :-))
-
I find it discouraging that you spend time with no progress in game. With every tier the requirements multiply so there is no quick path to tier X. Would i have arrived at tier X i certainly would consider it. Now i rather spend my time on the game. All in all we are testing it there too, and changes will be made that weren't obvious in testing.
-
Isn't minus ten of thousands repair cost enough punishment ? That is what you get if you don't do well in CV guaranteed. Especially the higher tier ones. It can happen too if an enemy team does not have lone ships that do not cover each other with AA. Your aircraft simply get shot out of the air with very minor damage done. Maybe the hotfix adressed that too, we will see.
-
I have encountered very dangerous DD indeed, before any hotfix. It is good for the sake of balance, so CV players learn they cannot fall upon anything indifferent.

Before you guys erupt in reckless celebration : Q : What really changes even if aircraft were uable to spot ships themselves at all ? A : ( DD ) All is as it was, DD head to cap and start knife fight. But as soon as they become visible due to the DD or others spotting them HELL FIRE STILL COMES DOWN !!!! interupting their "honorful"" knife fight. As ofcourse rocket armed fighter are circkeling overhead, waiting for a target to pop up as they know there will be. Like vultures. A : ( Cruisers and BB ) All is as it was, ships move unspotted into position where they want to go to. But when visual contact is made by enemy ships HELL FIRE STILL COMES DOWN !!!! together with enemy ship cannon fire ! And ships sailing ALONE and OUT OF ALLIED AA RANGE will stil be brutely EXECUTED ! My guess when this becomes apparent there will be an even greater outcry to just remove CV all together. I think it is highly doubtful WG will do this. You guys will just have to adapt and change tactics. If you can't Sun Tzu would laugh at you, as he describes guys like you thousands of years ago. Full of honor and set tactics. Shocked and unprepared for anything different then you know. And then crushingly defeated. Dont't be like that....adapt, change tactics.
-
All CV players must attack lone ships that strayed too far from the rest, that are out of AA range of other ships to truely have a nice XP and credit reward. It is the order of things in nature. Attack what is weak, avoid what is strong. Groups of ships put up a devasting wall of FLAK and medium/short range AA. Can't attack that and live, not even drop weapons before dead. No magic "F" key changes that, removing or delaying it changes nothing. You may see group of ships adapting to the situation, staying together, there is complaining about that too as players find that boring and want to play Rambo on their own. These are the ones that get executed ofcourse, so cry the loudest here. But mid-end game they will be scattered more. If you have no choice/patience you can always attack the first, the last or the most outwrd ships in the group, but certain aircraft are more suited ( torpedo bombers ) then others and you will lose many aircraft.
-
I did this all the time. But the complainers dont want to hear that, even say they doubt that it ever happened as it weakens their complaints that CV are now OP. CV were OP in the hands of the skilled. Probably remain so like any other ship. But then again, we can still do that, with one squadron and with less torpedo's. Turn tight/fast enough and amusing spreads of several drop attack passes are possible. I found map edge bounces to help a lot with that. Dangerous place to be attacked in....Not my choice turning there, but it helps :-)) Even more amusing : Lexingtons obvious rework nerf to torpedo accuracy causes torpedo's to go off at weird angles. This actually seems to sink EVADING ships more often then being able to fire them straight as in Japanese torp bombers.....
-
I wondered about that for a long time too, but it is too unimportant to really care about for me. Fighters start when you select them anyway. Before the rework fighters had longer CD before being able to be lauched then strike aircraft at match start so if you wanted to launch all aircraft right away they were litterally last on deck, maybe it did represent that or is (still) because of that and remained unchanged because no one found it important enough to change. You did notice the smoke stacks of some early CV such as the Ranger in the game are dangerously in the way of landing aircraft too right ? Those huge round rings at the base of these stacks, where they bend inward the ship...yeah, obviously these stacks were lowered out of the way IRL....unescessary features no doubt, so they arent animated. :-))
-
Watching vids on various channels may aswell be the cause for most call for nerfing as British CV aren't even in game yet and already are used to prove CV are brokenly OP, and most players are not as effective as portrayed in the vids. Should all ships be nerfed on account of what the most skilled players can do with them ? Or rather on server stats on what is actually happening in game that clearly show all players are far more effective then intended ?
-
Haven't come across this yet...high tier thing ?
-
Always overpen DD, i havent even thought of that but it makes perfect sense. In that case there is no issue making Tiny Tim's more accurate, as it will be of no use firing on other then big armoured targets anyway. As much as need to according to server stats the devs with no doubt have. Not asking for guided missiles...but usable unguided ones.

How to kill a game with just one "update" ... powered by Wargaming !
Beastofwar replied to Taricate's topic in Archive
I play DD too.....not exclusively, but i play them just as much as any other class. Using DD i know - because i play strike aircraft as well - that strike fighters see DD very late, especially when flying fast. More often then not you already pass over them and have to turn around to attack. That tells me that if i do not use a course that strike aircraft will fly directly over me for certain they will have difficulty in finding me at all. On maps with only 2 large caps i was undetected untill i attacked their CV laying idle in the back of the map, on another occasion i was in similar location until a cruiser decided using radar, not looking in my direction but detecting me anyway. When i am in a CV i need to relocate all the time because DD have sneaked past an undefended and unpatrolled point. Many players just adapt. Difficulty comes form maps with 3 or more caps where CV - and anyone else - know where DD will be. There is is no difficulty to find DD and attack them. But on the 2nd trip these DD often not need to be detected, as they are in a fight with allied DD and others. Or smoked themselves up what can be seen from half a map away in the air. By the time the strike craft arrive the smoke is gone, or someone used rdar or hydro or is less them 2-3 km away and sees them anyway. Then it is easy to strike them hard. So you are right, the other shock is from ( DD) tactics that were written in stone suddenly work diffrent now. Just like in a real war, or advised in "art of War" by Sun Tzu. You can still cap, but it doenst have to be DD to do it, they can have rewarding mid-end game play in other ways. DD can still do it, but will have to ask for support from cruisers or their own CV that can lay a fighter consumable or help sink the enmy DD(s) showing up there. If you want to be stealthed, why show up where everyone expects you and you won't be stealthed ??? Knife fights between DD are often won by cruisers joining in, as they should. Now strike fighters join in too. Don't want that ? Stay away from there until later....Change tactics ! Many have done so, i see this happening from the air. You probably have to change tactics as it looks like there will be no rollback, and WG probably will not want to nerf CV untill they become unpopular again. All the complaining may just be players with shook up comfort zones, something they do not like but is good for them and the game in the long run. You may call me a potato or whatever, having no clue of tactics but this does not change the fact you will have to change your ( i mean everyone complaining ) tactics to have succes again. -
How to kill a game with just one "update" ... powered by Wargaming !
Beastofwar replied to Taricate's topic in Archive
Why can't you guys see what is happening is because of everyone trying out the new CV rework.......in CV's !! Not overpoweredness, not because of rediculous totally unbalanced damage, not to not being able to be stealthed most of the time........the sky is fillied with aircraft because there are 4 CV in almost every match ! Lower tiers even more i noticed. Don't you remember the british DD missions and new DD tree ? There were a LOT of DD in matches then too, making up for half the ships per side, torpedo walls everywhere. Not fun either especially not in BB. These things just happen after something new is introduced, and not capped in MM. And that's probably intentional as WG may not want long waiting queue's for those curious players that can't wait to try the new stuff out. But you know by now - especially if you are a veteran player as you mention often - this effect is only temporary. The skies will not be filled with aircraft forever, it is actually intensive play and honed skills to get good results out of using CV. With (more) nerfs that will only be more so. I personally don't expect to see a CV in every match in future, let alone 2 or 3 per side. Just ride the storm out.....never been different really. -
That might work a lot better yes....now players need protection far off course of your attack aircraft, especially mid-end match where everyone may be spread out over considerable distances. Not only is it not desirable to fly over whole maps to lay the consumable instead of attack with your strike aircraft, often your also too late to reach them in time and it is of no use.

Who has closed their wallet because of 8.0?
Beastofwar replied to Migantium_Mashum's topic in Archive
I just bought a months premium account as i am very satisfied and want to play more intensively for a while. I read about the hotfix and there is nothing that will ruiin this either, didn't abuse "F" anyway as i want to turn around and attack again, and again, and again. This gives more damage per time spend then having to fly all over maps for every single attack anyway. I am a bit worried about more continuous medium/short range AA damage as i am flying in there most of the time and there is no dodging that damage. But i will adapt and i sail other ships too so i will benefit from this as well. I have bought several premium ships and will do so in future if i really like them, their RL history, special features, or be able to play in operations that my tech tree ships cannot enter because they have progressed or are not there yet. Not need to have OP features at all. But i never buy gamble chests....want a product i like for my money, not a (nasty) surprise. -
With practise and oppertunity ( lone ships ) t4-t8 CV can be pretty damaging. Won''t win matches on their own but do their part. Especially the torping and divebombing looks easy but is takes practise. With diveboming it is well worth dropping your bombs untill your plane nearly hits the deck. It may cause not droping bombs at all ( too late to release ) but if you are in time you have a high chance to hit. Rockets are good for attacking cruisers and BB too, but if they are broadside so more rocket hit. The key to hitting ships reliably seems to be attacking broadside as that offers the widest target to hit. Even when divebombing, as you can still steer while diving, steering along with the evading ship.
-
^^ This. I never killed a DD with aircraft since the rework unless all but dead already. Rockets are inaccurate and do very little damage. It's the cannonfire of allied ships that kill upon the DD being spotted. Then again DD should realize CV support them too : 1st thing i do is try to find enemy DD, spot it and attack it, but i also drop fighter consumable preventing or hindering the same done to allied DD trying to cap. And some DD have pretty powerfull AA already.
