I find that the playability and effectiveness very much depends on the tier ships you face. Facing AA of 2 tier higher ships is rediculous, while facing you own tier may be reasonable. Forum members respond to this that it is the same for all ships, and that is true, but for aircraft facing +2 tier AA it is even much more unenjoyable. And they litterally in this +2 tier AA situation force you to attack the ships with the weakest AA : DD...that already suffer much. Making their game unenjoyable too.....

CV Rework: Another rant about manual ship control
Beastofwar replied to Sirion_'s topic in General Discussion
Yes that's the consequence. For relocating the map+autopilot will be enough. For evading torpedo's or cannon fire you will have to "zap" back into your CV and take control. You may want to do that anyway because no CV end match for you when your last aircraft dies or fly time runs out. I often get revenge kills out of that fly time when my CV is already gone....very enjoyable feature.- 41 replies

Cv rework poll - keeping dementia at bay
Beastofwar replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
I'm well above 35 but mentally flexible enough to learn the ropes of any game i buy. That is the benefit of being a gamer i guess, dementia will probably be far off. Gamers can even redirect events in their nightmares better then other people science says, as we are used to cheating AI's, weird non existent worlds and situations and used to bending set rules in our favour :-))) Changing game mechanics i can handle......it's the nerf bat that hit CV rework that is unreasonable for CV players. Watching your aircraft explode and an empty deck CV is no fun gameplay. Or having to hold back to prevent this, and seeying negative credits as a "reward" for playing. -
UK CV introduction events are coming.....they expect sales from that. These UK CV will probably not even have the ability to function in the old RTS system. Would need rework (= time and money invested) again. It will freeze in hell and pigs will be able to fly, before you will see that happening, lol. Maybe it's a good idea to let WG know they made a partial mistake dissapointing so many customers. But really expect a rollback....i don't think that can be expected.

CV Rework: Another rant about manual ship control
Beastofwar replied to Sirion_'s topic in General Discussion
Weird did you check you key bindings ? For me this does work i am not lying to you. I think it should not matter, but do not use WASD as i have used the cursor keys all my life, and bound all vehicles to those keys...but them again my aircraft are too so it should make no difference.- 41 replies

Setting a course slightly in an angle backwards ( if you want to turn around ) prevents this. Or else setting waypoints around.- 41 replies

CV Rework: Another rant about manual ship control
Beastofwar replied to Sirion_'s topic in General Discussion
Not selecting any aircraft it's just the keys you use for all ships. F releases you from aircraft control. In some maps 1st thing i do is put the CV in reverse manually. So i get some more distance from breaking through DD and cruisers looking to kill me fast. After that i may reloacate, usually do that in aircraft with map+autopilot. When auto-pilot sailing while flying meanwhile and under attack by DD i press F and assume direct cotrol as to evade torpedo's and cannon fire. In map+auto pilot mode you cannot adjust speed. I too thought this was not possible, put on the wrong footing by WG info for a while too :-)- 41 replies

CV Rework: Another rant about manual ship control
Beastofwar replied to Sirion_'s topic in General Discussion
But you HAVE direct control ! Before the rework you pressed 1 and were then in control of the CV. Now that is tied to a squadron, but pressing F does the same thing as 1 did ! If you do not select numbers at match start, or press F if you did select numbers, you have direct control just like any other ship. You can speed up or slow down, evade torpedo's and more.... Map+autopilot is just for relocating if you don't want to leave your aircraft. It's just the consumables being automatic....have no complaints about that.....the CV's AA is even stronger then that of any other ship and it launches fighters to boot. The rather few torpedo's that do hit usually arent a great problem, with auto consumable even less.- 41 replies

My Thoughts playing with the hotfix
Beastofwar replied to Vinyl_ScratchPlays's topic in General Discussion
I very much dislike that too !!......Not only set up to be thrown in too high tier matches - facing high tier AA which your aircraft cannot handle - far too often as there is no CV a tier above you that can take that place, there is a visible ugly gap in aircraft technology too. Maybe they did this to reduce work load on the amount of rework ? And they will be back someday ?- 43 replies

Operations : why do players not know what to do for 1-2 days ? ?
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
This is what i assumed. But i can't place players in tier 6-7 ships having to learn every time again. Do they go through the tiers that fast so they see all operations for the 1st time ? Or are there that many players that just arrived there ? I must admit sometimes i sink too after a couple of minutes, due to underestimating a bot DD thinking my secondaries would have finished him off switching with mains to another target already. Or getting a farewell present from that DD that i could/should have expected....But not that often. More often i am fighting an overwhelming amount of bots because (almost) everyone is dead already. Often enough in under a minute ! And the difficulty seems not that hard at all...if everyone keeps afloat and sinks his/her share of the bots......if you get a 5 star it often seems to have come very easy, while many 2-3 stars are fought for very hard. -
Use mouse aiming when having commenced attack run ? It doenst seem to widen your aim (as much ). Using the keys does..... Sorry it isn't true, thought it was

I am sorry for what you have lost, but i am not the one responsible.I didn't want it either but when forced upon me i found new joy in it. There simply isn''t a choice either. This is what we got, and with the UK CV introduction and missions/campaign/sales/lootboxes built around it i do not even doubt that back rolling will never happen. Just wish they wouldn't panick-nerf but UK CV event won't probably have no reducing effect on the amount of players using them untill that event is over. So nerfing maybe temporary but nescesary before everone else leaves the game.

No rollback for me......before the changes i thought "why change something that works well" and didn't look forward to changes. Unlimited aircraft ? Carriers do not have that....operating only 1 squadron ? Didn't like that much either But now it's here i like it, except the panicked nerfing. I was competent enough at RTS CV to have fun with them, didnt play them exclusively though. Had them in port through the PEF mission grind and grind to aquire the Musashi (coal) before removed. And i got the Nelson too as a side effect of grinding. The XP and credits were always more mediocre in my tech tree CV then my premium ships so in port they stayed yeeeehaa. But i seem able to adapt, certainly like the new visuals and effect. Compared to the old situation it is indeed more action orientated. I do hate the panicked nerfing though.....having to re-discover how things must be done over and over again.

My Thoughts playing with the hotfix
Beastofwar replied to Vinyl_ScratchPlays's topic in General Discussion
Do you use braking ( slowing down backward key ) after commencing attack run ? This drains "turbo power" too so should do something useful, if you still have enough that is. It is counter intuitive as you are longer exposed, but hotfix armoured you 30 % more once commencing to attack run as i recall. That allows you to commence attack run earlier too ( when running out of time often you need to take attack time lengthening upgrades/captain skills....havent done so myself ) I struggle with it too, but when too close ( does torpedo acceleration help to be able to release closer ? ) i steer paralel to the ship and have one of my torpedo's hit it at a very shallow angle. Higher chance to miss as those are easier to evade, but better then a not armed torpedo.- 43 replies

Most if not all will be back again when UK CV are introduced.....then it'back to 3 CV per side again ( current cap ) Yeehaaa

My Thoughts playing with the hotfix
Beastofwar replied to Vinyl_ScratchPlays's topic in General Discussion
Please do note that the hotfix torpedo nerf that widens the aiming if you dare manouevre after commencing the attack run only applies to your keyboard keys !! I was quite amazed that it didn't react on the limited mouse steering WG also introduced. So you can still adjust....it's just limited but discovering this my damage increased again. I hope they will not nerf bat that too... I am sorry for having said that without having tried that more often. It doesn't work like that afterall.- 43 replies

70 air kills in a Repu...without AA build
Beastofwar replied to SEN_SEN_Channel_Portugue's topic in General Discussion
Bad players - or unaware new, or returning players - did die instantly from flak hit before hotfix. After hotfix only severe damage to (whole) squandron. Damaged like this they may have a chance to release a few weapons in 1 approach. They will all be shot down before or after dropping weapons due to continous non dodge able fire. None will even survive "F"key. Good players - or aware ones - do not take damage from flak, can be dodged as before. They can drop weapons but then fly though non dodge able fire doing very heavy damage and keeps doing that while circeling around, or trying to use "F" The right captain points taken, depending on aircraft armour and the type ship you attacked you may or may not come back for another pass to drop more weapons. Few ships can be attacked 3x from a single squadron. None if they are in a group of ships. -
new upgrade Can we get WoW to undo this last awfull upgrade before it stops people playing???
Beastofwar replied to W1ttbarr5's topic in General Discussion
This is what i have seen players in game do : 1- Not rush cap, be among protective allies for time being. See where a hole in the line is forming. Have captain concealment skill and skin and try sneak through. Hunt CV hiding in rear and sink it. 2- Set course to cap, but stay near foreward allied AA. Only cap when not contested. If contested let combined fire take out enemies in cap. If enemy disposed of be sure allied ships (AA) followed you. Cap. 2a- Use yourself as bait and lure strike aircraft into a (concealed) AA cruiser nearby. 3- Ask your own CV for assistance in taking the cap. He will drop fighter consumable to protect you and his own aircraft from enemy aircraft. He will (help) attack enemy DD showing up. 4- Ask (AA) cruiser(s) to support you. Not only will it quickly kill aircraft coming for you, but also end knife fights with enemy DD. 5- Be among protective allies for time being. See what enemy ships scatter where in the course of the match. Mid game sneak through area's that are empty toward intended targets. Hunt targets. This in not a single player game. Ask for help, you may get it and it increases your chances quite a bit. All above may fail perticularly the sneaking through, but if succesfull juicy unsuspecting targets can be sunk. Laying torpedo walls from stealth is included in above options, as it is many DD main weapon. -
The best describtion of problems we have so far with very few words !

WG what have you done to AA flak burst values?

"Concealment Expert" (CE) captain skill in post v0.8.x world for BBs - YES or NO?
Beastofwar replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
There are uses of concealment - even when nerfed a bit - that do well with new CV mechanics : - Some AA type cruisers use it as a trap for aircraft, as they will be visible very late and the aircraft overflying it will receive ( a lot of ) damage without it being their choice.* -Some AA type cruisers use it with BB as bait, only after closing in or beginning attack run does the AA type cruiser show up. The combined damage is very destructive.* - Some BB use it to not show up if the aircraft fly past them at some distance. Not all aircraft fly near enough to spot you all the time. - All use it to dissapear as fast as possible when aircraft fly off again, after attacking, saving seconds to minutes of being visible to all and receiving damage. I really don't know if it is worth the points if you can't have something else instead, but it should have noticable effects. * may be or not be intentional, but result is the same. -
Tier 8 non premiums CVs are unplayable in tier 10mm
Beastofwar replied to Branovic's topic in Archive
I said that in other words too....and yes, strange enough this puts even more pressure on DD as they have become the ONLY viable target since anyone else will blow you right out of the sky. I could swear after the hotfix i can send up rocket squads with less downtime really making DD miserable. Sorry DD players...WG forces me to do that to get even scraps of XP and credits. I do feel honorless while attacking DD too as i know they can do little about it. Don't ask for nerfs, ask for viable gamplay for all classes. Could have prevented this seemingly panicked hotfix, for as long as it lasts. -
I have a Nelson too.....it won't sink that easy due to it's huge repair amount, especially not from the often minor damage aircraft can inflict on it. Other then that stay near enough other big ships, or ask one to come with you. If you don't want that, fine its not a single player game so you have to face te odds. Having said that, being alone seperated from other ships is never a good idea......all classes execute lone seperated ships. But yes it for certain will attract aircraft, as lone ships are the only things they can attack and live. WG wills this.
-
It is true that nothing changed about DD being discovered and attacked by rocket strike aircraft. If they are not discovered by strike aircraft, they still will be attacked by them anyway as other ships do spot them eventually. But this is probably brought into the game for a purpose. It's whole purpose seems to be reducing DD influence, rebalancing power, and that it does. Maybe they came up with this after they realeased UK DD and there were game breakingly too many DD in matches ? Maybe because of the many BB players that dont like torpedo walls fired from invisibity ? Or maybe they want submarines in that will hunt CV and BB, and DD hunt for submerged submarines. And prepare you for another playstyle by removing what submarines are supposed to do -stealth attack - from DD.
