Carefully look at the pictures what happend here, how this DD died.....This isn't some freak incident either, i build my ship for end-game CQC with heavy damaged DD that think they can hunt me or block me capping. And yes my CV was full heath before it had to eat part of the torpedo salvo. It is worth it if the DD is the one that sinks, can be crucial if it was blocking a cap or was one the last ships. 12x 127 mm - to each side - is not to be trifled with when you are a DD.....it even has more 127 mm guns then an Atlanta cruiser, and - enhanced and extended - seconday battery inaccuracy won't be an issue up close.....Pirates ( DD ) y'd be warned.

All the (PvP) nerfs has left the CV wanting when it comes to stopping power. Sadly this nerfs the CV too when operating against bots, that play differently, mainly present themselves in waves that have to be stopped. For stopping power you need to do raw damage. In this game at 8:30 minutes left i am alone - don't ask me why this is common - halfway in an Operation. Whatever i do i cannot stop the waves of bots before the merchants get too far away to return to the exit in time. In the second picture at 0:35 minutes left you see the merchants almost got to the exit despite fighting alone for minutes. Now i am even more angry about all the nerfs....i really need the stopping power reworked CV had before the nerfs.

I’m absolutely terrible at the game, any tips?
Beastofwar replied to NekoGunner's topic in General Discussion
Play Coop or Operations depending on what you can acces. Flank the bots ( their turrets are turned on other players ) or have another player between you and them, and hone your aiming skills on them. Fire from smoke when your ship has smoke. Bots often behave less irratic and prefer to sail in a straight line making it easier to adjust fire on them or practice with torpedo's. When not targetted as their priority ( often nearest ) target bots are forgiving to shoot at and doing it for a few days will give you suberb guessed aiming capability. You will then have a feel what lead you need to hit certain class of ships at what distance. After the first salvo you can then finetune how much you must adjust. And after much practice first salvo's will hit more often too. -
I am not toxic with you, despite i am one of the players you want even further nerfed. I will explain : When you get what you want, not be spotted by aircraft you will still get attacked by rockets. The way i operate after all the nerfs is i go in together with a friendly DD. He will spot the enemy DD for me so i don't lose sight of it during every turn to make another attack pass. So there is no perma-spoting by aircraft anymore, you are being (perma) spotted by other ships and mostly your own kind, a fellow DD ! And upon being spotted by other ships you will come under rocket attack again. And shell fire, and DD torpedo's which is far more killing then rocket fire. You say a CD on being able to use rocket squadrons. That will not help you either as you will find out you will then be bombed by divebombers. Already many players don't bother to use rockets anymore because of their low damage and aiming nerfs. AP bombers are useless for this, but the already more powerful US CV's use very effective HE bombs that will make your DD explode far more dependable then inaccurate and low damage rockets. Maybe you want CV removed. That won't prolong your life either, enemy DD and cruisers are more then capable of ending you not much later then aircraft assist would have. Then you wuld be angry about Radars, then Hydro's, then too accurate Cruiser fire, then...... As DD try to work WITH your own side CV instead of playing Rambo. If you go in together with your side's CV rocket fighters, you have a good chance to actually cap/sink enemy DD/be protected from enemy rocket fighters/come out alive and have a (stealthy) mid-end game. Don't ask for nerfs.....ask WG to promote/reward teamplay better ! Ofcourse you may not wish to team play. But then you have no right to ask for nerfs, it isn't a single player game tailored for your victory conditions.

You got me, i though that it was ?? Where are the other players in that ops then ......
-
That is why they sink after a few minutes ? Is that intended you think ?

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Beastofwar replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Depends on the situation.....if that DD really needs to be deleted or it will kill off more allied ships/defend a cap to eternity and win by it going in bow pointing at (hidden) DD with all barrels loaded with HE can be worth it for the team. Some irratic saw lining when approaching can sometimes help too, unless very close. Perhaps not if you are a stat player, sacrificing yourself will ruiin your precious stats, although turning around and leave the Dd alive can make you lose as well......but going in when you mind team play, sure it is always an option. Some BB player did charge the smoke cloud but he was smart and had a plan, he called me to help him as a CV player, so we went in together. He died, but reveiled the DD and the DD died too.....and we won the match but with very narrow advance in points. -
where is this player base heading to...?
Beastofwar replied to _TinPan_'s topic in General Discussion
That whole stat obsession is what makes the community toxic. Elitists that know how to work the games system to give them high stats slanting everyone else that they are bad and should de install the game. Imagine those players would really do that and leave the stat elitists to fight each other.....then their winrates must fall to 50 % because they then have equal "skills" working the mechanics of the game into their stats....some side must lose, even when both side are stat elitists. That is probably why WG forces +2 tier matches upon the rest. So these elitists have something to boast about. So their bad attitiude toward other players is self defeating to begin with. But it is probably WG promoting this, as players that wish to become stat elitists too are willing to cash over large amounts of money. There is a reason most stat elitists use tier X ships, are in clans where doubloon consumption is even more encouraged as you cannot appear a weak clan member and more such machinations. -
Premium ships vs doubloon camo tech tree ships
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
I guess Premiums often have trics or abilities up their sleves which they must pay for in lower main gun power.......such as torpedo's, stronger AA or long range secondary batteries. Here is the result of a Dunkeque that decided after a lenghtly long range standoff fight, correctly bow tanking and using his ships design well to engage me close quarters. We approached each other in 17th century warship style. He did not know the Mutsu has torpedo's....not very strong torpedo's, but enough for the next main gun salvo to kill him. -
If you think that you are much mistaken. End game CV are usually the few ships left alive. Guess what i will do when i see leftover players fighting in some far off corner in the map and the enemy has caps ? Guess what i will do if a single badly hurt DD in in that cap ? I have invested in a partially secondary build for CV for this purpose. And as idiot as that may seem to you, i have taken caps from heavily damaged enemy DD that way more then once. A CV with 12 x 127 mm per side is still very dangerous if it can reach out to 5.8 km with somewhat enhanced accuracy AND is over your head raining hellfire at the same time. Or preventing you from aiming torpedo's for long enough because you have to evade aerial torpedo's. Sure that DD is dangerous too, chances are it will just torpedo the large CV target. But many times they missed enough torpedo's to be killed and the cap taken....by a CV....Maybe because they do not expect to be hunted by a CV ship itself. Goes for anemy CV too.....i hunted already multiple of them with my CV ship itself ! Because if i can get my secondaries in range, i will sink them and the AA is powerfull enough to kill their aircraft. The latter is really a rare sight to see.....2 CV blasting each others aircraft out of the sky that attemtp taking off, and each others hulls with secondary batteries.....it is almost a Galactica vs Cylon base star battle soo much weapons are firing. And why not do that if you see coming you will be the only 2 or 3 ships left ? Aircraft are NOT the CV's only weapon. I always even consider ramming, if there's a teammate left to win the match....or just rack up a higher score.

where is this player base heading to...?
Beastofwar replied to _TinPan_'s topic in General Discussion
Winrate says nothing....if the enemy team consists out of noobs ofcourse you win. If your team consists of noobs you lose. PR says nothing too. It is well known some ships are far more effictive, powerfull or easy to get good results with. Any elitists showing off his stats should be looked into if he/she is using weak ships too.....else those are meaningless stats. My opinion is Operations is where a lack of skill is really shown. The quality of your opponents is always consistent. There are no noob bots, if you screw up they kill you. If you understand what your class ships does, and what the objectives are you have a chance. Operations are only winable if 1/3 of the players understand what they need to do. Only 5 star-able if 3/4 really knows what they are doing. Yet that is already too difficult. Says something about the player base. -
The hopping noobs and clueless harebrains are back....most of them with clan tags too. You can ofcourse "safely" blunder without harming your stats in operations. As if stats or clan tags say anything, clearly these players lack any skill. If the Shcors commander is not saved and other early objectives are not met you already know how the match will end..... See here the only remaining cruiser hiding behind a ridge, not enabeling himself of kiling the convoy escort in time. Moments later the bot shot him anyway. Because the timer will run out if the merchants go too far before turning around you cannot do anything but lose even if you killed all escort ships yourself. With nerfed CV damage, and Furious is even less nerfed then the other T6 CV. The reward is very poor and a waste of time.
-
And isn't it wonderful to behold how much players can adapt ? Few are quick, the others slow but in the end everyone adapts. Now you see when a CV/DD fails to find and kill the enemy DD they pop up near the CV more and more. The nerfs and player adaptation are causing the CV be sunk at mid match ever more often. I don't say DD having more chance to hunt what hunts them is a bad thing. But i do feel CV are too much nerfed to save them selves. Often they dont have to as some rear allied ships often open up on the chasing DD too, if not to save their CV then because they know they will be next when it is sunk.
-
If you vectored directly toward the hidden AA cruiser you still have little reaction time and must accelerate into a safe direction flying through some of the zone. Now, mostly you could know they would be there and come in at an angle where you can be quickly out of that zone. But still, not taking damage is often not possible as they are still invisble untill you touch the zone.
-
But i wonder how long the Furious will stay as it is....for now it seems/feels MUCH stronger then the IJN ans US ones. Despite the awkward and unearodynamic looking aircraft.
-
Nope...because when given opportunity, only then can you show/use skill.... Skill is useless without opportunity. And in a +2 match in a CV you really need opportunity.
-
That and most ribbons seem to be worth some formula in XP and credits. The more (diverse?) ones you get the higher the score is my experience. I am often amazed in matches where i could barely do 10 k damage i still get 100K credits after costs......or doing 150k of damage result in 100k credits after costst too......
-
Luck with team quality......if they can scatter the enemy so targets can be attacked when they are alone, kill AA cruisers so CV can strike fast without evasive detours, and pummel the enemies AA modules so they don't have that effective AA anymore...sure then T8 can do something. But you never know what team you got into.....that is exactly why winrate ( in randoms ) is overrated.
-
Just frustration WG can't fill Tier X matches with Tier X CV where they belong. Tier VIII obviously belongs in tier VIII matches, +1 tier could be perhaps acceptable due to the tier gap in CV. Tier X is just another ball game completely. Tier X AA just swatters squadrons. Yes you can get some score going whith heavy loss of aircraft, be decently rewarded in XP (not credits ) for damaging +2 tier ships but the gameplay is lamentable. The only thing you could do is kill DD since they have the weakest AA, but the low reward for that was already uninteresting, now they have a stack of nerfs protecting them it is downright too low DPM to even go after them.
-
UK torpedo's seem to do quite a lot of damage. As all other nation CV torpedo's should really, since you often launch only 2.
-
Well i have the impression something might have been changed....bit early, and not T8 but stilll....lost and still made good credits. Time ran out too soon...was chasing their CV (ship) with my CV (ship) with my secondaries just moments before opening up on it far before it could shoot back since i have them extended with points/upgrades. I would have sunk it had i have had more time......

Premium ships vs doubloon camo tech tree ships
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
Scharnhorst is a cruiser killer with "small" 280 mm guns the Graf Spee has too. Gneisenau tech tree ship has 380 mm guns that can stand toe to toe with other BB.......The Gneisenau is much more powerful then the Scharnhorst, a good example how the "weaker" one became the Premium. Scharnhorst isn't weak when you hunt cruisers with it.....but it is weak going up to +2 tier BB. Huanghe is "garbage" according to a review but is just a rebuild Arethusa class which is a variant of the Leander class. Perth is a Leander class too and reviews recommend not use it for randoms. Yet Leander, the tech tree ship is considered a "Definate Keeper" I too feel the Leander is the better of all of them, and cheaper with a 1000 doublom camo put on it then the premiums. Mutsu is built out of the discarded A hull of Nagato, with same size but weaker guns. Not only weaker then the tech trree (sister) ship but downtiered and even then quite squishy. Duke of York is rated "Garbage" in a review, if you must use such a ship the Tech Tree one - King George V - is recommended as being better. Mushashi - weaker then tech tree ship Yamato. Tirpitz - weaker then tech tree ship Bismarck. -
You presume 'being a good player" enables you to break into dense packed overlapping AA zones of ships that purposly stay together for combined AA power ? And i mean in matches where players adapted tactics and there are no soletary stragglers to isolate. Where even DD remain in the AA cruisers kill zones......It enables you to negate tier X AA in tier VIII aircraft ? No it does not. No amount of skill can give you high scores if targets of oppertunity have wised up...and are not there. The CV is weak against combined AA and does low damage if you already punch through because you have no other choice. You lose all your aircraft and get a hefty credit fine for that. As i said performing up to 2000+ points in any other ship type makes you "rich" with massive amounts of credits. In a CV you get maybe 50k credits after costs, if you endured an above mentioned scenario that is ever more occuring. Players are not dumb. Maybe as a whole some are slow adapting, but they adapt. And when they do - they did - weak performing ships ( low damage due to nerfing ) with flawed economics get it bad. WG will realize that sooner or later....players adapted, making many of the CV nerfs obsolete or unessesary hurtfull to gameplay.
-
@MrConway was CV economics adressed ? I did - continue to - feel a huge credits income gap between other class ships and CV when performing between 1500-2000 points When not on premium account i probably would not use ( T8) CV so much punishing it is in my experience. I need a lot of credits to climb the tech tree, the bulk of my ships is still at tier 7 and mainly stock because i can't afford all their upgrades. That is ok when using other ships, but not CV turning up minus credits even when winning, but not performing over 1500-ish points. I am using premium so turning up negative credits when perfomring average or surprisingly low credits when performing above average in a winning match feels way off. You can't be top 3 winning every match ( in a CV ) can you ? And ofcourse not win every match, enemies have qualities too.....

Premium ships vs doubloon camo tech tree ships
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
Without premium i would lose credits in T8 CV every match when not ending top 2 when winning and/or above 2200 points. With other ships you need only do 1000+ points to get "accaptable" credits. If you go 2000+ you really cash in.
