If you read what WG is planning on higher tier UK CV the mouth of hell is about to open for DD....what was it ? 42 rockets fired in a single pass by british rocket planes ? Elliptical reticules/rocket fire patterns ? This will be interesting during air supply box sales.....but after that the nerfs will be slapped on, then what will they become ?

I love what the Mushashi's triple 155 mm turrets* did all on their own to detected DD's in ranked, and at some very usable ranges of 10.1 km. They were so effective in severly damaging DD's that i ignored them all together with the main guns. Ofcourse i did not ignore the torpedo threat. For that reason i fear the Yamato may even disappoint me. * 2 of 4 turrets usually on target = 6 x 2700 = 15,6 k potential HE damage, but broadside it is 3 turrets = 9 x 2700 = 24,3 K potential HE damage...and there are then 6 x 127 mm's for 6 x 2100 = 12,6k HE damage firing too )

Poll: How should WG handle overperforming premium ships?
Beastofwar replied to ColonelPete's topic in General Discussion
If ships - premium or not - are so strong you can troll other players they need to be adressed. Yet, if that trolling is done by only a handfull of the most proficient players i do not think any nerfs are in order. Nerfing you do only if the ship is out of line in hands of a majority of the player base. No i don't think premiums should not be touched because you paid for them. Yet if they lose substantial and unique features - other then being able to abuse these features - i do not agree. There should be balance maintained in the game. Else there will be stat trolls abusing these ships, poisoning the game in more then one way. My guess is the most vocal ones in this matter are the most guilty of unfair play, abuse of unblalanced features and therefore have untrue stat representation of their "skills" Ofcourse they don't want those ships nerfed, their stats would be lowered.... -
CV's - Good looking, but that's about it.
Beastofwar replied to UncappingBadger's topic in General Discussion
Yet my "all time" stats are red and yellow numbers, but the recent stats have been purple, light blue and green, then red or yellow again. What does that say ? That i have streaks where i suddenly have the power to own all, and then sink back to being a clueless noob ? It is bullsh*t. It is just the ships you use, the tiers you play in, and what hand you are dealth with by MM. The only noobs are those that put overely importance on such stats.....saw that in more games, it gives rise to toxidity and hate and ultimatly an unplayable game if not adressed by the games developers. They really should have an arena where you can challenge a stat fanatic that irritates you with stat citations, are assigned a random ship so they have no unfair advantages they are used to, other then real game skills. Fight. And provide a means to shame such a player if he is defeated, because shame ( deflated Ego ) seems to be their worst nightmare and handicap....that would solve quite a few issues i think. -

Beastofwar replied to UncappingBadger's topic in General Discussion
They do that to everyone that just plays the game, enjoys all ships and all tiers. That happens to give you low ''stats'' as some ships are more difficult to use effectively while others are very easy to do well in. Low "stats" do not say anything, certainly not when you are not stranded for months in tier X, but those self entitled VIP players think it does. You can never win an argument with them, even if you display match results with very good numbers. That ofcourse was coincidental or you were carried by the team or such things. It is of no use discussing the way you can influence "stats' either, which everyone of them does. Do not mind these players, you are much more free and can enjoy the game more not trying franticly to produce the highest stats.....before you know it you take a bite out of your keybaord because of matchmaking not in your favor, if you would become such a fanatic. Just enjoy the game.....of those you sink there are ofcourse stat fanatics too :-)))) -

Wie bitte ? :-))) -
Would not surprise me, why not ? Certainly would not be totally unlogical if an event ends. It would not change anything either would it ? As long ofc you did get the recources in them. But ship missions i saw do have an expiring date.......
-
No i already mentioned that right from the beginning as i noticed bot spotter planes were shot down by my ships - especially over island/mountain ridges - and counted for the mission, but the answer of forum members was "takes far too long, so impractical " But always faster then seeying no CV in randoms for ages, and when you do hope they will come even near you. ( which often they did not, quite the contrary to popular belief aircraft are everywhere ) But if there are CV in a random match one should not yolo to the front and get executed so fast one does not get to kill planes at all, but stay alive right up to end game play, because the enemy CV will probably be too. With fewer targets around in end game you will certainly come under attack and have a go at shooting down planes. And then is is usefull to use US cruisers that are permitted to use too, although lesser AA ships might draw air attack earlier in game but risk shooting fewer down when the CV does come. Those US cruisers can be good for 12+ airkills per match, killing all 30 in a single match is not rare either.

When you think of it may famous ships are merely a common Destroyer, Cruiser or Battleship in the game. But for example the squishy not really special Graf Spee cruiser in game was actually a formidable opponent that heavily damaged Exeter, Ajax and Achilles. Recreate that battle ( even in special game modes for only 3 players in this case ) and sales of these premiums would soar. Ofcourse these 3 cruisers in game would probably chop up Graf spee, it's powerfull RL secondaries gimped and all......so maybe make objectives that can be met such as heavily damge all 3 cruisers and make it to port as it did IRL. Ofcourse very thrilling scenario's/(mini) operations with famous ships ( some tech tree ) are possible that way. What of hunting the Bismarck ? Raiding Taranto ? And so on... It would give Premium ships much more "worth" then just being thrown in a mixed bag of ships their "tier" And famous battles not just a name for some daily mission that has nothing to do with it.
-
Even better : create (mini) operation(s) where you can only use ships that historically fought a famous battle ! ( no matter what tiers they have between them for extra challenge ) That would sell these ships :-))

De Grasse weak without healing abilty ?
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
Kiting does not win Operations. It can merely assist in winning them if others carry completing the operation's objectives. Ships that can only kite are poor contributors. Premiums that can only do that are failed ships in Operations without provided heals. But you are right my point is already made many times over. The point of others that there's nothing wrong with it ( in f@kking randoms ) is made too. -
De Grasse weak without healing abilty ?
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
Here is whats wrong with the Grasse except for not being able to take damage ( and in bot games you will ) : IT WEAKENS THE TEAM TOO ! See here a match consisting of kiting players that cannot take damage/try prevent taking damage by design of their ship ( not their fault ) : the only BB then gets concentrated fire even it cannot withstand, and gets executed.......guess who are next. Guess what Ops outcome will be.... I rarely saw a more poor game then this with 2 De Grasses, a Budyonny and a Pensecola....someone needs to be able to draw fire and absorb (some of) it.....cannot be a single ship. There are enough tech tree cruiser without heals or smoke, why do that to a premium one ? -
They are clones, but with different (soft) stats which you can notice in game. Some have torpedo's while their image has not. Or much stronger AA with the extra guns visually mounted. Much stronger secondary batteries or have more range/ROF. And different consumables, very often changing significantly what they can do. But you are right, thats why i decided to give my favorite Operations no new premium ships anymore but tech tree ships a ( much cheaper ) doubloon skin, giving them almost the same credit/xp gathering ( for daily XP boxes and missions ) functionality except for commander training ability which i don not use anyway. Could even have used tech tree ships without spending money. I never actually saw premiums are actually better then their tech tree counter parts. Only in very few occasions such as torpedoing an unaware player with a Mutsu in rare close quarters combat with BB ( unless you fight bots a lot ) it becomes obvious that in some occasions they are special. I use some clones in active service like the Warspite and Queen Elizabeth, or Duke of York and King George V......results in Operations ( same conditions every march ) show they perform as clones. Now i will sometimes still buy premiums....but indeed they better be unique ships.
-
See here a DD that took 10 (!!!!) Tiny Tim anti-ship missiles (!!!!) and still was not dead. He then took another 3K emergency defence fire from my secondary batteries.....still he floats..... I'm not whining he killed me, i was immobile at the time of my own choosing because i wanted to delay the cap long enough to make it possible to win. A team mate did so after my sinking. Had i been sailing with top speed secondary guns would have finally gotten the DD probably. I was however unable in close quarters to be able to shoot at him with rockets, just as i feared. The fire delay nerf causes CV to not be able to defend themselves with aircraft when DD are nearby. There is no other option but to spend points and ship upgrades to increase the range, ROF and accuracy of the secondary batteries now....

What CV's ? The Exeter missions ( tier 5 + ) need 30 shot down aircraft and there were mass complaints it almost could not be done.....lol. I still have weekely missions left after 5 days of playing that are about shooting down aircraft. To me stating that is is hard to play against CV must mean you play tier 4 or 5 where you sometimes still see 3 CV per side in a random match. Against that there is no playstyle, its a WG mistake. Above those tiers CV are pretty rare, nerfed so their aiming is wonky and damage is low, and Cruiser/Battleship AA + fighter consumable defences strong enough to kill most aircraft. That is why the CV are rare there...If your complaint is above tier 6, then indeed it is "L2P"

Nah that is normal since i started playing since about 3 years ago. If you cause good damage, get a lot of varied ribbons you get decent credit and XP even when losing so you can still climb through the tech tree with a decent pace. You do not pay extra costs for losing your ship, it's just service cost everyone must pay. Only thing that sometimes frustrates me if you can get 100 %, 200 % or even 300 % win bonus but you can't win and collect it, or with too few ships when you have many ships. And win rate ? That is only important for elitists that have no idea ( or don't care ) that is actually a mechanic to make them pay for the game more. You will see WG promoting that.

CV's - Good looking, but that's about it.
Beastofwar replied to UncappingBadger's topic in General Discussion
Dunno, but that is how it works after the stack of nerfs that were slappend on, plus player adaptation by moving in tight formations of ships resulting in concentrated AA that is not survivable. Do anything else and see fireballs instead of squadrons. Then you are all but de-planed when you could be most effective. It might change when more players ditch their AA build, leave their by design specialized AA cruisers in port and loosen formations again because there are very few matches with CV. All their choices were a result of conceived threat of omnipresent aircraft, that are not there anymore..... -
CV's - Good looking, but that's about it.
Beastofwar replied to UncappingBadger's topic in General Discussion
OP listen up.....a CV comes into power and influence over a match when enemy ships get scattered and are shot up badly from the battle. That is mid-late game. If you want to see serious sh*t from you aircraft, then be sure you didn't waste all your aircraft by then. You need full squadrons mid-late game. Untill that time you can do recon ( bee lining the edge of their AA ) spotting their whole fleet which gives you spotting ribbons that are worth XP and credits. Yes after all the nerfs you can still do that. You can find dangerous DD, lead allied DD/Cruisers to them and attack them together. You can ponder over the tactical map you scouted yourself and single out BB stragglers or BB solo warriors, but not AA cruisers. These you torpedo or dive bomb, not several ships together that put up deadly AA concentrations. When the surface fleets have slugged it out there will be barely floating ships around. These often have busted AA modules and won't put up that heavy AA anymore. These can be sunk easily by your weapons despite the nerfs, and you can reach them much faster then any allied ship. Rolling them up, sinking them one by one in quick succession can be your job. An enemy that thinks they are winning because they have the most ships afloat can see that situation change in minutes. That is why some players still think CV are overpowered.....they see CV killing in quick succession, forget that these are barely floating wrecks. Now this may not happen.....if your team loses you won't be able to do much before you get sunk or lose because of points. Losing a lot of aircraft -for which you get charged - and not making much credits because of a loss in which you coudn't do anything is frustrating. But by scouting well you give your team the condition they need to have a chance to win. By sinking solo warriors on the edges of the map you relieve pressure on allies, and giving you a base score without losing full squadrons. And by sinking what is leftover after surface battles you can win or decide the match outcome......but you must have aircraft.....if you are deplaned you are virtually useless. So don't throw them away attacking ships you cannot attack. -
I noticed a softening of AA too.....funny how "OP" AA can actually be caused by mass use of AA enhancing features, that later are dropped again because there are almost no CV in matches and those points and ship enhancements can be better used for something...useful If you take that further quite some number of by design AA specialized Cruisers wil float in a lot of ports unused......i wonder how many WG sold using CV as incentive to buy them.

De Grasse weak without healing abilty ?
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
What can i say ? I'm used to outperforming whole clans....but not in those 2 cruisers premiums without smoke or heal. But quite funny the one clanmember that survived..... -
Psssst.....when in DD i try to sink CV too, usually after assisting ( i only fight for caps when sure of unfair odds lol ) in taking a cap and thereby creating a gap in the line to slip through. I know first hand CV become more dangerous as everyone else becomes more damaged and scattered late game. Enemy CV need to sink.

HVAR vs Tiny Tim and CV captain build
Beastofwar replied to elblancogringo's topic in General Discussion
While more HE pen may increase damage in certain situations, i don't think it will come to diminishing returns with AA as powerful as it is and the pace of a match. It's one or two passes and either the already heavy damaged BB explodes or your squadron becomes a fireball. If you have to return with another squadron that BB will often be sunk by someone else, or you can return with more serious weapons like torpedo's or bombs. I just like to use them when other squadrons are thinned out and noticed they often do damage beyond what i expected to see on many ships....except DD :-)) -
personal opinion on WG, CV, no tldr
Beastofwar replied to Yosha_AtaIante's topic in General Discussion
I am older then 40, but i love the rework :-) I have to admit when still in RTS days reading about the changes i didn't know if i would like such huge changes. But once adapted - for me a day - i was very pleased with the rework. I also play all classes and i do not encounter the problems so much players complainend about in these other classes. But to be fair, i only started playing other classes again after CV use dropped significantly ( and so did i obviously ). It is my opinion no CV nerf was ever needed if MM had not be configured to allow more then 1 CV per side in matches. I know why WG did that, but it is at the base of much of the complaining. CV are not overpowered, but their aircraft were omnipresent in matches herassing the hell out of mainly DD players that had become acustomed to moving undetected. And that was a bit too much. That is gone now, CV player base is (almost) back to normal. Missions that need 30 aircraft to be shot down are even tough to complete ! But i see positive adaptation too : ships moving with an escort ( BB with AA cruiser ) DD sneaking through gaps in the line intending to hunt the CV, less pitfighting over caps early in the game leading to qucik DD losses and more....the game HAS improved, but those that cling to the old ways may not like adapting. But they will adapt too. -
HVAR vs Tiny Tim and CV captain build
Beastofwar replied to elblancogringo's topic in General Discussion
All rockets, IJN, UK, US. They are all able to heavily damage superstructures and cause fires.....something BB and CA/CL on very low health cannot take. Or if you want to harvest some quick score points before the match ends and you have a full sqaudron of rocket planes but not torpedo or divebombers.
