Well i must say there were a lot of CV again this evening in my matches, 2 per side at tier 8+.Must have been hell on the DD players, i killed 1-2 per match with rockets myself in the matches i was in a CV. When playing in DD there were CV too that tried to kill me but i know how to handle rocket planes, just go to where they want to come out of their turn, then they cannot fire yet and fly over without being able to do anything every pass. But as smart as that may be, i was targetted upon being spotted by those aircraft and used a lot of room to go where they come out of a turn.......and shot out of the water by enemy cruisers and destroyers....so much for being able to not recieve any rockets....you can't dodge rockets, torpedo's and shell fire all at the same time. Maybe caps early game is not where you should be nowadays. It is where anyone expects you to be, where you will be hunted by aircraft, enemy destroyers and enemy cruisers. It requires another strategy that not incoperates rushing to a cap, staying under cruiser AA umbrella just a little longer as you know rocket fighters are searching for you the first minutes of a match. As CV i saw DD deliberatly luring me into AA cruiser fire, using themselves as bait. Such tactics i want to be able to employ too in a DD. Working on that....

Is there a reason why operations are T6-T7 only ? Why arent there any operations in the WWI era ? We have all kinds of famous Dreadnought battleships, Destroyers that still were torpedo boat killers or torpedo boat flotilla leaders, and all kinds of armoured cruisers bristling with side mounted guns just like in the 17th century. Yet they are "wasted" in fast tiers ( you play them for an hour ? an then tier up ) with chaotic play with a lot of clueless players that may shoot you even if you are on their team. Is it not a great idea ( WG can have more premium sales too ) to make an Operation out of the battle of Jutland ? Most of these tier ships clashed there in one of the most famous sea battles. I do think it would be mandatory to restrict acces to the type/class ships ( not the specific ships ) that really were in the real battle. Is it not an idea to have more famous sea battles as operation per definition ?

De Grasse weak without healing abilty ?
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
Everything that was said makes sense for other game modes. WITH healing i could resists the waves of bots despite all other noobs team members already dead as usual. It is just much better with healing, just look at the amount of secondary hits. Doesnt' stand a chance - against waves of bots - without healing. Oh you can kite damage and deal long range damage as in random matches - i did to some extend - but you lose the operation if you cannot do close quarters combat at all. Because that is really required against waves of bots, especially when your noob teammates explode around you. -
Tier III ? Maybe IV ? What for ? Those tiers are used to rush through in an hour playing maximum, never to return for most. If they were to give us usefull dreadnoughts or other tier II, II and IV premiums that were long scrapped before WWII , they should design operations for it. The most relevant one being ofcourse the battle of Jutland.

Republique secondary build now best?
Beastofwar replied to FearsomeFlotsam's topic in General Discussion
These guys make vids to ( hope to ) make money with it do they not ? They won't succeed by being boring or looking like average players. Did you ever wonder about documentaries at discovery channel or national geographic ? There is a 'catastrophy' or at least an ''emergency' in any profession in every 3 minutes they are filiming. Actually these YT'ers do exactly the same : exaggarating stuf so it looks exiting and wild. Or outragious. But it is in fact very damaging, there was mass complaining calling for nerfing CV while in fact tier X UK CV's were used in the vids that were still in testing ! A lot of the 'worried' vids are made in testing, and we rarely get to see the same, unchanged, ship in the actual game do we not ? It is not called testing for nothing. -
Republique secondary build now best?
Beastofwar replied to FearsomeFlotsam's topic in General Discussion
This is true for all the stuff they show, including OP'ness of specific ships. Nothing works in any situation all the time.....all choices ( builds) have up sides and down sides, picking certain skills means you choose to be weaker at other things. IRL and in game secondaries are a defence against fast and agile torpedo lauching ships. IRL Destroyers did often not push attack before secondaries were destroyed or weakened by battleships vs battleship battles. In the cases they did push ( Graf Spee ) they did not fare well. In this game strenghtended ( more range, ROF and accuracy ) secondaries do actually the same : they are not there to wittle down enemy cruisers and battleships ( though they do that too ) by chipping away health points and seting them on fire, they are there to EXECUTE NEAR DD before they lauch a(nother) torpedo salvo. Since DD don't have armour secondaries are very deadly to them, but not at stock range, rof and (lack of ) accuracy. And this what secondary batteries do, that is why i invest points/ship upgrades in that even in CV, and it has paid off dozens of times in mere weeks playing time.Doesn't seem very a very popular though, in reviews it is even made rediculous. And it is true secondaries won't deliver huge amounts of damage.....just enough to blow up a not full health DD in time without having to aim main weapons on them switching to HE. -
Giulio Cesare stays as it is + balance of other premiums
Beastofwar replied to anonym_cwVecOS6ecVy's topic in General Discussion
I remember dealing with these ships when ranked was T5 and i don't recall they were THAT much OP. Just like all other ships it is the tactical situation and the players individual skill that can make strong ships work or not. They sink or explode just as any other ship if they do stupid things with it. The only unfair thing is you can't buy them if you don't already have them. Then again it is strange WG did nerf other ships such as the Graf Zeppelin......why would they not nerf one perticulair ship but do nerf others ? Or is the Graf Zeppelin nerf off the table too ? -

Whoever gave you elitists the idea that only the most skilled players should be in tier X ??????? That being there means anything about your skills ?????? Where is that stated in the games manual ? By what means is discouraged that you can be in tier X and be a noob ? ( in my eyes all elitists are a kind of noobs but thats a nother matter ..) You get to play in tier X if you could get there by going through the games design. That is all. -
Suggestion: Reconnaissance aircraft for CV
Beastofwar replied to Pikkozoikum's topic in General Discussion
Short answer : The successive nerfs made this suggestion obsolete. At higher tiers with heavier weapons you can no longer attack at will upon spotting, and more or less depend on other near ships continuous spotting to be able to attack an enemy DD. Long answer : it would probably not change anything, but it could make it even worse. If you spot the enemy with a recon aircraft that cannot attack itself, but you can keep them spotted for a long time - for which you get rewarded with XP and credits - you will be just as hated as if you attacked yourself with rockets, bombs or torpedo's. Correction : probably more hated as you would probably not fly in the center of their AA (aura) as rocket fighters or other bombers eventually do so AA can kill them, so they would feel more powerless to stop you, or are just ineffective at all. DD hate being spotted, the rockets were never the real problem, if you look in the details result screen as DD player what killed you, the bulk of your damage was always incoming fire from enemy ships upon being spotted. Introduction of Recon aircraft litteraly need the return of air supriority fighters as a counter, as not all ships have ship launched fighters to keep it away. Then there is the problem what to do if only CV's remain in a match.....happens with some regularity. If attack aircraft cannot see anything, and no other allied ships remain to spot they cannot fight anymore. Other then that is is un-doable to fly around not seeying what is shooting AA at you in attack aircraft.....invisible AA trap cruiser were just corrected because of that !- 49 replies

Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
Beastofwar replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
Winrate is not an objective of the game....it is not required to win a set % of matches. So what is your problem ? Now i did see CV sail along with other ships too, right into enemy fire.....and certainly more then once. UK ones to be exact. You could almost swear these are non-game bots that stupid are their actions. Now i use the CV as an armed ship too but in end game where i can actually sink enemies - mostly badly damaged DD or CV - with it instead of them sinking me. Whole other ball game. -
I have been in a lot of CV games today.....in DD's so i know what the complainers were taking about. But i do not complain....trying to adapt tactics to get these aircraft killed by friendly cruisers. Lure and bait sort of stuff.

Suddenly it dawns on me how i could be in such good condition after ramming an enemy CV......the above picture is probably the reason behind it. Or is it just health pool against health pool ?

Whatever works is my motto ( too) :-))) Pretty damn low reward for quite some effort....that's what i dislike about operations.... -
Try bombing an enemy CV with it, but appraching from bow or stern so you can hit the full lenght of the ship. Then it won't dissapoint you.

Planes are ugly. Damage is good. Nerf after events inevitable.

Need just a clarification on selling CVs before deadline
Beastofwar replied to RedOnly's topic in General Discussion
It is undenyable that Japanese CV are weaker then the US ones, i see this clearly too in own perfomance and rewards. I have no doubt (server) stats will say that too about the class played by the whole player base. I think the cause of it is low (chance on decent) AP bomb and torpedo damage. Especially the AP bombs are only able to damage some type ships reliably. Are those ships not present or protected by dense AA screens of others, then they cannot be used at all handicapping your DPM and score. You can't fight DD with AP bombs. On most cruisers AP bombs just fall through with no/low damage. On thick armoured BB AP bombs bounce. Armoured cruisers where AP bombs could do something are so AA heavy protected you can't attack them or lose your squadron before you even drop bombs. And the few thin deck/citadel roof armour BB there are in game in the right tier...these may or may not be present in the match at all or as stated beyond attack due to dense AA screen protection of other ships unless kamikaze style is used....for which you are punished by extreme costs. -
Is the WoWs grind too generous
Beastofwar replied to Bear__Necessities's topic in General Discussion
I needed 6 months to get from t6 to t7.....so no it's not generous. You need billions of XP to advance all your tech tree lines 1 tier. But something different : playing well rewards you with fair XP. But it is rather the credits that i am always short on. ( read : i am not stuck in tier X ) And CV economy being as it is, rather losing credits then making them, or if you make them redicouous low amounts, it isn't going anywhere.... My whole t7 fleet is still stock and without important ship upgrades. For stat fanatics that would be unbearable. So generous ? No, that line of thinking comes only if you play 1 tech tree line and arrive in tier X in weeks or months. But that style of playing does not go for all players, so cannot be a base for a call to reduce it. Certainly not from players that are already at tier X, that want to hinder anyone else getting there. Those are game poisining elitists that should be punished for pathetic behaviour rather then rewarded. -
This is pretty accurate....
-
This was not so after rework release, but after the "hotfixes" MrConway said WG would look into CV economy but clearly haven't yet.
-
Weren't they in the proces of tampering with servers for cross-server play/event or did i understand that wrong ? Or is it just they want to cut costs and rent cheaper servers or pay for less capacity ? Managers tend to do that, cut costs....never improves the product. It is becoming anoying indeed.

Beastofwar replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
looksee here inflexible tactic stat noobs....true agression...true play. You see the remnants of an enemy CV there that i attacked - and would have killed - with secondary batteries and survived ramming...and no, i was not de-planed as you can clearly see. Planes are useless in CV close quarters combat, they just get blasted by enemy CV AA costing me credits....Better keep them safe on board and use them after the enemy CV sinks....but it was the last winning act. I did what a DD ahead of me failed to do.... -
You are right about ultra low credit rewards, it is caused by losing many aircraft. That is hidden under "ammunition resupply" you can mouse over it to see the exact amount. Thing is ofcourse did you need lose so many planes ? That is why i repeat that the time to act for a CV is mid-late game when enemy ship AA modules are busted from the surface battle and surviving ships are heavy damaged and scattered. You then face far less deadly AA and can actually kill ships with your attacks. Even become deciding in the match outcome. What you do up to mid-game is your concern. I only insist you do not lose many aircraft up to then. Me, i use rocket fighters to map the entire enemy fleet by bee lining just outsiade their AA range. When i find DD i look if the friendly DD is enganging ( and perma-spotting ) it and help in it's demise. Other things to do is check for solo warrior BB's that can be attacked without much aircraft loss. Things to avoid ofcourse are AA cruisers and tight formations ships and therefor of combined and deadly AA. But you are right this will not actually solve getting far less credits then other ships, for doing the same damage. Not before costs, and not after costs. It is just too few credits any way. One of the reasons i use CV way less now, tey are not as profitable as other ships that just make 100k after costs for mediocre performance. Not lose 30 K for winning and 3rd place. Maybe it is on purpose, a mechanic with which WG wants to discourage to keep playing CV after you bought air supply boxes to unlock them, untill CV use is normalized. But CV numbers are already low on the higher tiers. I wonder if unlocking high tier UK ones will change that. Doesn't look like it.

I do not know if by "rockets" behind the propeller you mean Tiny Tims.... Tiny Tims free drop like bombs first ( well clear of any propeller ) and only then ignite thrust and go off toward the target. If you would play that "other" game you can experience/see that very well, very hard to aim though.... And look at this ( may have been a proto type with guided drop ) They do look like 1 is enough to destroy any DD...not 10 and still survive.....silly game....

Stripping it of it's smoke consumable is a very nasty kick in the back if you thought it would be enjoyable.
