The "other" game with a more simulator approach but the same vehicles in general said "no guided weapons, ever" and "no weapons after 1950" look where they are now........ WG will have to move. If other games offer more interesting gameplay, cunstomers will eventually leave. You can't stay the same only appealing to some rigid, inflexible core of conservatists that are against anything new added and stay in buisiness for a long time.

This has always been the case, quite noticable too. But denied by most on these forums. It is one of the reasons WR will always increase much arriving at tier X, because you cannot be uptiered anymore and fight mainly lesser tiers actually making the game much easier and you more powerful, unless you are fighting your own tier exclusively. That is why ranked matches are more difficult : fair odds, mostly decided on real skill. It doens't mean you are setup to lose being uptiered. Just to give you a challenge you seem capable of handling. If you are very skilled you spoil everyones game by sealclubbing, so they give you something more difficult to fight. If the challenge proves to much you get top tier more often. It makes perfect sense to keep as many players satisfied as possible. But fighting higher tiers does give more reward.....there is upsides to it too.....playing TVIII i am used to see tier IX and X all the time. Good rewards but you should not care about WR too much while not at Tier X. Despite what all the elitists/ilusionists say.

There is always only a small core that is actually dedicated enough to show up at important matches. So you need quite a base to fill missing spots/positions with the players that can actually use that class very well. Larger clans have larger dedicated cores, which is easier to present a strong representation of their clan in battles. Smaller clans will have to fill missing spots with less talented players or class generalists. They will be in a worse position. Does that mean all clans have to be small to reduce that advantage ? I don't think so.

Submarine gameplay and mechanics - what would you like to see?
Beastofwar replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
No freak consumable's, no haloween stuff....just the historic weapons they were in a in game usable way. What i expect the WWI submarines will be very alike to what DD are now : spend most time on diesels on the surface, attack on the surface, and dive only to escape gunfire. Surface detection range alike DD of the tier.. Dive time relatively short. Slow under water. Deck gun(s) controllable by player. Not very deep diving to escape depth charges. Main cause of destruction probably gunfire. What i expect from early WWII submarines is very alike what DD are now : spend most time on diesels on the surface, attack on the surface, and dive only to escape gunfire. Surface detection range alike DD of the tier. Dive time longer but can only make speed on the surface. Slow under water. Deck gun(s) controllable by player. Medium depth diving to escape depth charges. What i expect of late WWII submarines : Relatively fast above and under water, can stay submerged a long time, possibly be allowed to use schnorkel/run on diesels on periscope depth, Surfaced detection range alike DD of the tier. Deep diving possible. Deck gun(s) controllable by player. All submarines lauch torpedo's from the surface or at periscope depth. Periscope must give away submarines too on minimap in range of ships detection range to be balanced what game requires. No automatic depth charges, make that skill based, in the form of setting the correct depth and launching a pattern above the target. If automation is a must, then only the depth settings. Finding the submarines with methods somewhat alike RL detection methods, ASDIC and sonar available in the tiers they belong to and before that only acoustics or even guessing as early submarines won't be able to be submerged for long. Aircraft must be given depth charges too. The ships hunting submarines will be DD, CL and CV. Torpedo damage should be balanced to be acceptable in game and rewarding for the patience submarine captains must have to position themselves and be hunted under water. Submarine torpedo's were the heaviest kind of torpedo's, so no light damage on hit. They will be no DD in speed and torpedo walls, don't have as many guns, so are not even as dangerous as a DD are now. They will be an addition to the game, another flavour to be played. Any fear of overpoweredness is rediculous, DD are much faster, can launch multiple torpedo walls from stealth, can burn BB down with HE fire from smoke. Submarines will not have all that. -
Yes nibster, while leveling through the tech tree the ships when stock are underperfoming ( no range, weaker hull, weak AA, no ship upgrades, low point captains, +2 tier battles ) and my WR suffers from it. Look when the ship is upgraded, has a 13 point captain and is not stock...... Btw whenever i will see you, your stats will go down...because your DD will be sinking. But you seem to have wiped your original leveling account in shame, for the facts that i mentioned. So you know that is true, you just want to hide that you to had lower stats climbing through the tiers. Many metal fishes or something ? Whatever, ill sink him too, just for laughs.

And ? In game BB's and cruisers kill CV all the time. They are better at it then DD actually, although a DD is often involved as foreward spotter. DD are very poor as CV killer, it is more likely they get killed when attempting it. They will be killed when not backed up when they try to kill my CV......not only by (nerfed) strike fighters but by far reaching high ROF ( secondary build ) secondaries....that find all unarmoured ships very yummi.... So enter submarines. Depth charges. For DD, CL and CV. Will be a much better, deeper game if they do. Ofcourse rigid simpletons do not want changes. Well, their brains will have to hurt, but even they will adapt. CV rework has proven that.

Does this mean no XP and no credits at all ?
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
Well in a CV if you never noticed you can reach the merchants before anyone else can. This is a result of WG removing AA from the forts for some reason. I have my CV steam ful speed toward those merchants too to engage them with (HE) secondary batteries, with disregard of forts and bot ships.....they have not sunk me yet.....So damage farming is definitly possible. But...of course i understand this behaviour and "stealing" the lucrative merchants from the team does not sit well with them. So on my way there i make a round where i deal damage to bot ships as well, 4 torps for the bots, 2 for the merchants, doing it again. May kill off the remnants with strike fighters or if i have them, HE bombers. Or the Cv secondaries when it gts there. The CV secondaries usually go wild on the shore installations all of their own too, but these seem not to deliver any XP or credits. Too bad, but pressing P is not nessesary. Funny thing is they are not too bad against forts as well. Winning has to do with sinking key ships and create a safe corridor to escape. And team mates trying to reach that escape exit. More often then not an Operation is barely won because the bots kill the (clueless) ones that are not in the green circle. -
I always wondered about damaging/killing forts and shore installations.....they nicely explode, show good damage numbers when they do but they seem not to count "in the results screen" Does that mean you get no XP or credits for them at all ? The forts do shoot ( even sometimes kill ) allied ships....

It's not about "gid gut" it's about selling admiral packs. While it may not be impossible to get the last stage will definitely not be completed by most players. Someone said that is customer unfriendly, i agree but getting "free" stuff is always very play time intensive. When you have work and a family you probably not going to have that stuff for free. But if you have work and little time you probably have money...and WG wants that. And that T5 is not so special without smoke consumable that ships of that class or very similair to it classes often have. You would wonder why you want to have it in the first place. If there are ever ranked matches at T5 again, the Guilio Cesare's are still there, unnerfed...i doubt this T5 can do better against it.

But they or i cannot draw that conclusion......i am hindered by handicaps the game design forces on me to slow leveling down. They do not suffer these handicaps as they have progressed beyond these ( end tier/developed tech trees/developed captains ) and yet pass judgement on me or others like me. There cannot be any conclusion untill i am where they are : unhindered by the games mechanics that are there to slow down progress and make you spend money. ( which you still dont have to ) And frankly yes, if others do not (want) see these restricting mechanics, designed to slow progression and what they do to stats....and try to insult those that are leveling experiencing very different restricting mechanics then them ? Yes, where is their intellect then ? And without intellect, how can you ever have superior tactics and game winning skills ? The very fanatism kicking down to players still levelling, denying known existing ingame mechanisms such as stock ships, low point captains ( or retraining captains without abilities ) and +2 tier matches having effect on "WR"" among others, suggest a low IQ......there won't be any Sun Tzu's among those elitists. But what to do with idiot adversaries with inflated ego's and hot temperaments were described with in "The art of War"
-
The point is levelling up through the tech trees you are confronted with handicaps - and yes these will mess up your performance - and this is ofcourse done by the games design to encourage you to spend money to end this situation faster. Other games do this to make you feel like you are progressing. Just making some post where WR is connected to skill without such important variables, completely ignoring mechanisms that work against a player is wrong doing against those leveling players. As is kicking down from anyone that isn't levelling anymore and is thus not handicapped anymore and sees his stats improve because of it. The whole rubbing in of so called "bad stats"' of players in a diffrent circumstances then end game players is wrong but as it seems encouraged, as those levelling might want to spend money to end the handicaps sonner and be among the "God like" super unicum stat players. It is all a setup, but none of those that are enjoying it seem to realize it. When your ego is inflated by illusion of very good performance, the intellect to see what is going on is shut off it seems. Dodge this : if levelling players would NOT be handicapped, what would you think would happen to your stats ?? What would you do playing against players at completely fair odds ? That is probably why clan matches or ranked matchs are that much more difficult : the odds are more fair. And it is thsese stats you should use....So do use your ranked and clan stats, and compare that to alike end game situation players. And leave any judgement of levelling players out of it, as they play under different circumstances then you do, if you do not use stock ships, have no low point captains, have no missing upgraded ship modules, may not fight +2 tier all the time and so on....
-
"Do you think it matters that others can shoot you, but you are 1,8 km ( difference stock-upgraded ) out of range of them ? " "Do you think it matters your hull is 500-6600 HP weaker then upgraded ?" naaahhh.....how could you even think that ?
-
Running premiums instead of stock tech tree ships......certainly. And running premium account can shorten the period that you have to play with stock ship handicaps. You can't score at what you cannot shoot......because your range is still stock and insufficient, among other handicaps. And it's a matter of fact since i went from T6 to T7 over the whole tech tree line of all nations, every T7 ship is stock and underperforming in such all important factors such as range. Some captains are in retraining aswell and do not have their abilities functioning. Since upgrading them all will cost billions of credits, i will have to play like this for months. But nah....that is all lack of skill..... WR - skill connection : only if there are no handicaps working against you. That means no stock ships, no low tier captains, no +2 tier battles, no divisioning. Those that don't want to acknowledge those factors....well bathe in your own ignorance and bloated ego. Be hapy those handicaps are real for most players still leveling up, or your stats would be much lower. Not the only game that does this to promote spending money to accelerate the time "sucking" encaouraged by those at the highest tiers kicking down.....should know better then to go against the ones that benefit of it.
-
Played Nelson, Hood, Duke of York, Cossack all day today and yesterday, made millions of credits and XP in many good games but no achievements. So it is a chore with Premiums just as well. That Nelson may burn well and recover great, deal a lot of damage but you only get those achievements if you survive......and the enemy won't let me escape to my frustration. That tub for that matter has a very shitty rudder shift and turn radius......DD and torpedo aircraft love to kill the last HP off such a lumbering target, and it is not fast enough to outrun persuiing ships that keep chipping HP off. I guess there the absence of a 19 point captain and full complement of ship upgrade modules begin to matter......escaping into consealment or handling the damage better.....
-
I like CV rework too. Use them a lot in T6 operations to (almost) full satisfaction. Maybe 1 negative thing : the rocket fighter nerfs make it impossible to stop bot DD's entering port zones and such objectives. When in Japanese CV you can't stop them with divebombs aiter, because AP. It is a pity PvP is considered so important the rest of the game has to suffer too.

Does this mean no XP and no credits at all ?
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
That is pretty worthless......so if you want to maximise score you don't shoot them but other ships ? That will not contribute to team survival....or completing the Ops as if team mates are dead you will probably fail too. -
You dismiss that in stock ships you cannot eaven shoot at the enemy, while that enemy can shoot you too easily. - WR can not be used to measure skill when using stock ships vs upgrades ships ( huge disadvantage ) - WR can not be used to measure skill when not using ship upgrade modules ( disadvantage ) - WR can not be uesd to measure skill when a captain is not 19 points ( huge disadvantage ) I have some strong evidence of this, as for the Exeter missions i used the premium Hood and Nelson....those are not stock ships......and my recent stats briefly soared up to UNICUM. So much for your elitism....it is a hardware thing to begin with. Elitists just have forgotten what it is like to use stock ships, low point captains and to have to do without ship upgrade modules. When you use upgraded full equipped stuff your stats soar up automaticly as it increases what you can do, instead of handicapping it. No wonder tat Tier X when you are done with stock ships and are "stuck" there with nowhere up to go, you don't have to struggle against handicaps anymore. The problem is elitists kicking down, ignoring such important and logic causes and blaming others to be bad players.......they seem to be blind to game mechanics, and think it is skill.
-
I didnt think of it, but i tiered up from T6 to T7 over the whole tech tree almost at once. That means i have stock ships that need multiple millions of credits to unlock, before that they are ofcourse aweful to play in with reduced gun range, weaker hulls and more.... Also i sold all the Tier 6's ship upgrades for credits so i could faster buy the T7's, which i am slowly building up again on my T7's. So stock and without ship upgrades..... Then there is the fact most of my captains are around 10 points. No 19 point captains for me... When you consider that, is there still such a strong connection between WR and skill ? Or is it just the game wanting me to spend euro's on it not to suck ? And "helpfull" players rubbing in that you "suck" no matter if it is skill or just stock underperforming ships with no upgrades and no 19 point captains......even even considered that ? I did not see those variables pass in the "mathematics" of skill.....yet, they matter a lot in performance.

Exeter easiest to aim for achievements ?

Survive the battle...that is why i didn't get those achievements....that makes it challenging. -
Exeter easiest to aim for achievements ?

Well as a total noob 7 x "it's just a flesh wound" must be possible in week's time :-)) But there is more to do, and little time if luck is involved getting it. -
Exeter easiest to aim for achievements ?
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
When you got the 7 achievements - which may happen in a week all on it's own without trying, you also need to sink 3 ships in one random match..... I know that can happen, but i doubt it will be if you aim for it to happen. Too many other players moving against that, even your own team that want to bag that kill too. Maybe in a large divison with a real good clan that lets you kill 3x without interupting fire ( "kill steal" ) from a team mate. All in all it seems WG really want you to buy that admiral pack...if this will turn out to be as frustrating as i think it is i will not be so eager to comlete all those nuisance missions if they don't complete just playing the game. -
Exeter easiest to aim for achievements ?
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
Is that build dependend ? I had my Nelson burn down untill almost sinking, repair it with the maximising flag, had it burn down a lot more and reapired again,.....and again.....and no achievement Or is this given once per match to someone ? I shot HE exclusively too, at as many targets as i could.....nothing....except for consistent 50-100K damage games with good XP and credits. I'm not whining, i have the Exeter already, just wanted the doubloons. I wonder only if i am really doing it wrong and you guys have completed it already. -
Exeter easiest to aim for achievements ?
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
That is my problem....what is so easy to get by "accident", it is quite hard to force to happen. I almost got a devastating strike, but too bad someone else was shooting it too and killed it before the last torpedo of the salvo that should have done it struck......that kind of thing. But nothing to do then play a lot of matches, doing the best you can. -
Exeter easiest to aim for achievements ?
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
Yep random only, Brit ships only......torping hapless bots is not going to work.....i guess they don't want to give away too many Exeters..... -
But @AirSupremacy is right about submarines being one of the greatest threats to CV, other then other CV. Although the pair of Gneisenau and Scharnhorst did bag the HMS Glorious by shellfire, and the in game Acasta with it.
