89 rockets (and a bomb) to destroy a single DD....
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
I may be called a noob for not realizing that thing was a mini-armored (AA) cruiser designated as a DD by the game. But what you say is untrue.....i managed to hit it with 1 bomb and decided he was much too skilled and slippery trying to hit him with more bombs. It is not only my skill diving that brings me succes or not, it is also this enemy DD's skill evading attacks that denies me succes. Maybe you want to discard that players skill as irrelvant, but i saw what he did and know his skill and decided rockets were easier to hit with. And they did, 89 of them. You can't dodge mass fired rockets up close.... He came very near wiping me out by lighting me up to tier X enemy BB's, forcing to take one of them out first....that player knew very well what he was doing. Could have succeeded if the circumstances were slightly diffrent. -

I just changed the TiT's for HVARS again because they didn't kill unarmoured DD very well.... The only sensible thing would be to get to choose loadout before you lauch a squadron...not before the match not knowing what you are up against. And yes, i was unfamiliar with armoured DD.....Never encountered that - so much difficulty sinking a DD - up to now. -

Ah it is a special DD.....that makes somewhat sense. It was almost unstoppable. Russia you say ? edit : i see now i may have hit his 50 mm side plating too much.....silly mini-cruiser.... -

It did sink @Bear_Necessities that is all i have to say to you. But it isn't right heavy damaged BB's and Cruisers can just be deleted at will, but not a heavy damaged DD. That is too much magic protection. (nerfing) -

Well WG thinks it normal to throw players in Tier X matches with a Tier VIII ship....shouldnt i be able to target the least powerful (AA) ship ? That player had too much skill to be hit by bombs.....would have missed too much to be even marginally effective. And rockets were designed for this, why should they be utterly useless ? -
Submarine gameplay and mechanics - what would you like to see?
Beastofwar replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
No because aircraft can accellerate out of AA zones killing them, or dodge the worst long range FLAK cloud damage. Submerged submarines on E motors are going nowhere fast, and can't escape automatic damage zones. Or those zones have to have insanely RNG hit chance, something the player base would love, and never complain about. RL ships launched DC in patterns. That should be good enough for the game, if you have a good indication where to start dropping. Only issue is setting the correct detonation depth.....automatic or player controlled ? I think real DD players with a brain will help DC aircraft kill the Submarine.....as that is called team effort to win. Ofcourse you as a stat fanatic would not choose to win ? Yeah right.... All in all more and more DD players ask for CV help capping too.....those are the ones with a brain. Those that go unsupported explode and cry nerf..... -
increase OP killer whale CV limit to 2.
Beastofwar replied to SkollUlfr's topic in General Discussion
Never seen 2 CV's in Operations. And secondary weapon modules ( and other secondary battery optimalisations ) are a very potent weapon against unarmoured targets like DD's in all game modes as they should be, their RL examples were designed for. Developing them to have more range, ROF and accuracy is a logic response to nerfing rocket aircraft, used in an effective way in Operations : against similair unarmoured targets. It does not work against armoured targets very well, although you can burn them down if lucky. I take it it's just jealousy because CV players as a class seem to realize they can be offensive with their ship too, and use 2 weapons simultaniously. This is called gameplay enjoyability. As long as they don't sink themselves that way and use aircraft against (objective) bot ships, what the hell is wrong with it from a team effort point of view ? No one cares you want to kill the unarmoured targets with a DD, BB or Cruiser....who said you are the only one that have the right to do that ? And when i am in Cruisers or BB, my secondaries to that too while i target other ships with my main guns....practically the exact same thing... main wepaon doing X, secondary weapon doing Y....just choices....i don't go for certain "mandatory" builds "forced" upon me by stat fanatics. Not should anyone else that actually wants to ENJOY the game. -

Beastofwar replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
DD players do not seem to realize that they will be the most important class hunting the submarines giving them more (useful things) to do then rush caps as Lemmings. They also not realize CV will be shooting rockets at surfaced submarines too, taking the pressure off of them. If i have the choice to fire rockets on a(n emergency) diving submarine or a DD if i spot them at the same time, i will go for the submarine. That DD can slip into stealth but it will be easier to find again before it seriously hurt your team then a submerged submarine without means to find it. ( aircraft won't have sonar buoys untill well after the war ) Ofcourse that won't mean aircraft with DC are useless.....they will just need to cooperate with ships that do have detection methods. -
Why dont High Tier Battlecruiers have torpedoes ?
Beastofwar replied to OddityNZ's topic in General Discussion
Those Mutsu torpedo's kill bots in Operations all the time.....this game has more modes then just random or ranked. Other then that they can sometimes surprise human players unfamiliar with Mutsu's that hink thee can win close quarters combat with it. But those occasions are too rare in randoms to impact it's overall performance. -
From T6 on 138.6 mm.....seem rather potent for DD guns....or is there a catch in muzzle velocity, ROF or range ?
-
T1-4 : dont play those, do not count toward missions, can't use in Operations. T5 : Should not use these, but count towards completing missions. Oktober Revolutyia is not used much since it was sunk in the T5 Ranked by Giulio Cesare's every match. T6 : De Grasse.... Shitty large glass cannon cruiser with no heal or smoke. Premium cruisers should have one of these. T7 nothing comes to mind being bad T8 Cossack....1 launcher, does not suit my limited DD skills. T9 Jean Bart...seems to be powerful for some players but i don't know yet how to play it. Pales in raw power to the Mushashi. Btw : Mutsu is my most hours played ship, it's torpedo's are usefull in Operations playing agressive style. PEF turns out to be an exceptionally brutal ship in Operations, if you run a secondary build. Simms : my most well performing DD

Well those battlecruisers that have heavy toprpedo's ususally get nerfed main guns ( in some way ) to compensate. Do you wish that ? -
Operation Killer Whale (Op of the Week)
Beastofwar replied to Logan_MountStuart's topic in General Discussion
Yes it is either a DD from the left exit point or a cruiser from the right exit point that makes it a 4 star or less by entering the bay. The DD i usually intercept/light up for others to shoot. The cruiser they have to kill themselves but that one is far less concealed so is usually enganged more reliably. I do hate the nerfs done to strike fighters......they hinder me dealing with the bay intruding DD's before it is too late if no one else is near to open fire on them. Divebombers will not work as IJN because of AP, and the UK bombers are no good for that too. Bots are sometimes real masters of torpedo evasion as well.....not much chance hitting a DD, although sometimes i have out of desperation. That is why i have bolstered the secondary batteries on my CV....they must do to DD with HE rapid fire what the strike fighters cannot.(on their own) -
Operation Killer Whale (Op of the Week)
Beastofwar replied to Logan_MountStuart's topic in General Discussion
You are right...but it was only theory ofc. Hard thing to decide on if some truely frustrates a win by ignorance or pure noobism and you could win by doing that, but with FF turned off you don't have to decide such bad things :-)) -
Operation Killer Whale (Op of the Week)
Beastofwar replied to Logan_MountStuart's topic in General Discussion
Very profitable...but you don't only have to use your aircraft....the CV has guns too....use 'em :-))) Pic 1 : CV whacking the last merchant with secondary battery fire. It whacks forts well enough too if team mates leave these alive, though you may have to intevene with divebombers. Pic 2 : CV whacking side objective shore installations ( seem to be worth no credits )with secondary battery fire too unimportant to use aircraft on/pay attention too. Just set the course, and it is fire and forget. Pic 3 : Profit Btw : with HE fire bombs the results are even better. 400K credits 10K XP within realistic reach. Not bad for a bot game. -
Wie bitte ? Ich bin kein Deutsche, verstehe ihren sausprache nicht :-))) Hah, thats just funny German invites. Btw i am no German either.

Operation Killer Whale (Op of the Week)
Beastofwar replied to Logan_MountStuart's topic in General Discussion
Not to mention KW can be very profitable for CV. You don't have to lose any aircraft, so you won't get charged for the loss. I get between 150-200 k credits for every win, after costs :-))) And you can reach the juicy unarmoured merchants first. Every hit has full damage that is not absorbed by anything. One of the BB's is a perfect static torpedo target aswell, all shots have a 100 % hit chance :-)) I have gotten a little bit too good whacking the merchants before anyone else can get to them. Doesn't sit well with team mates that want them for themselves, or get to deal with bot warships firing on them while i target the merchants. To not grief the team i split damage between the merchants and dangerous bot warships.....seems fairer that way. My biggest problem often team mates are too eager to end the match, before i or the rest of the team got a chance to sink all objective ships. Lowers score somewhat, but my damage is high enough to cash in when it is a win, even 1 star. Losses...those are a bummer. Especially when it is caused to fail to exit in time. To prevent it i ensure i am there myself in time always ( killing all near/in the way ships instead of objective ones ) so if they get sunk somewhere far away it still ends in a win. If more evil you could even consider sinking a team mate yourself if that would make the difference between win or lose when you are in the circle but they never will arrive in time ending is a loss.....in a CV you can easily do that ( theory, never done it actually ) and it may be worth the penalty. -
Submarine gameplay and mechanics - what would you like to see?
Beastofwar replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
I wonder about the reasons behind the "'no" of some players.....can they not bring valid arguments to back their opinion up ? Is it all fear of change ? That is not very impressive. Those conservatists - because that is what they are - need to realize that games that do not change and/or have new exciting stuff added have players - customers to WG - leaving in mass too.....because they get bored. It is good to ruffle some feathers now and then.....it refreshes gameplay, make rusted out brains move again. And if you see your precious stats sink because of introduction of a new class of weapon of which you have to adapt to through a learning proces....."gid gut" again.....sinking stats ( personal ego matter ) is no valid reason to block anything from every other WOWS player. -
I think otherwise. Especially if you plan to play for a long time. Slow buildup is not a problem. Long running low rewards still add up and are valuable. I couldn't care less about steel. Tier IX and X ships. Already have 2 x Tier IX (coal) premiums i never play them that much outside ranked when it was up. Because i like to play Operations more. Besides there is a coal tier X one, that i don't even want. Since there is little else to do with all that coal, i will eventually have that anyway. This is very true. Best answer for the whole issue brought up. But it also goes for people like me that want it empty, and then feel satisfied......i am aware this is a multiplayer game, but i like other human players best acting as in game adversaries :-))
-
I have still yet to be sunk by CV aircraft in a DD..... Yes they damage you, spot you and make the enemy fleet fire into you ( that is really the killing part of CV aircraft ) but still you can avoid death easily. But not if you are set on taking that cap - unsupported - no matter what. Currently if you are not rushing to the cap it is rather difficult to even find a DD in the expanse of the map as CV, as their spotting range was nerfed quite a bit. Especially if you remain safe among the cruisers for a short while and then slip though gaps in the line. If you keep dying then i can tell you this is because you keep rushing to a cap where everyone knows you are there without ever having to use radar, radio location, hydro or spotting. Capping is not the task of a DD per definition. Preventing the enemy capping is, but you don't have to be in a cap for that, certainly not with a (friendly) CV around.

Did this too once i saw what benefits that could have.....why make such a fuss about it, it obviously is designed to allow it.....how many words did you type ?? Obviously building the oil up alone wil be much, much slower, it will be months of play before any substantial bonus buildings are up. And those bonusses are not exactly game wrecking.....just help a bit climbing the tech tree while playing. If WG were to force you to be a minimum of 3 or 5 man would not stop this kind of clan usage. I have inactive friends i could ask join for form sake and it would not change anything. Like you i was in clans/guilds in other games and have led such clans/guilds too at some point, even one of 500 members. I don't want such things ever again, you don't get around to playing anymore with all the "social" activity going on. Rest and quiet, that is much better.....and yet some benefits.....even better.

Submarine gameplay and mechanics - what would you like to see?
Beastofwar replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
Invisible destroyers in daylight are realistic yes ? Destroyers withstanding battleship salvo's are realistic yes ? Destroyers eating several aerial torpedo's and surviving is realistic yes ? Destroyers eating 10 Tiny Tim heavy anti ship missiles and surviving is realistic yes ? Destroyers and some light Cruisers are the only ships that can make smoke yes ? Battleship, Battlecruiser and Cruiser secondary guns only have 4 or 5 km range, while torpedo's have their IRL range yes ? Come on...there is little realism in the whole game. All is balanced and tweaked to accomodate balance and playability. Submarines will do nothing unrealistic that has not been done before. And as said, DD are way more outragious artificially strenghtened - they are very vulnerable unarmoured ships, even .50 mg fire can detonate them IRL - to make them playable and dangerous then submarines ever will be. What is the problem exactly ? -

Das Boot is perhaps one of the best WWII movies(or miniseries) ever produced that happens at sea. Because of that popularity and sales potential they will be added. People like me will spend euro's on premium versions such as a VIIC. Besides the ability to see the game under water ( just as from the air ) makes it a much more interesting game, and truely adds 3D thinking and tactics to the game. A large part of the player base seem to be inflexible conversatist that want to keep the game the same for ages......but WG marketeers know that if they do that the game will die and their income decrease. So even when fearful or doubtful what the most vocal ones of the player base will think of it, they will eventually do it. Or lose out to other games that do. These already have heliopters, guided weapons, modern tanks and ships now too. Even when those devs didn't want to do that either. -
Achievements just happen, i never go for them. I have no idea how difficult or easy 7 achievements is, or how much time it will take. Which ones can you actually achieve with effort, and will succeed with some probability ? I bagged me the first one in the second match i played today - first blood - but that too was completely not intentional, just happend. Tried to burn down as many enemies as i could, for the weekly missions but that didn't yield anything but completing the mission. I feel this is somewhat out of my control, and very luck based. Or is it not ?
