Maybe a diassappearing symbol/number being targetted is more alarming at that.

I just fell out of my chair ! You actually said something truely usefull that i can and probably will use. Iwas always using that feature ( not in DD ) to prevent too many enemies focussing on me. And i guess that is a very good point, that does not work when you don't aim guns at them. So when you don't have fits of Ego outburst you can be a helpful guy.

Same deal here....doing pretty ok in Tier IX-X dominated matches in a Tier VIII CV, certainly earning a whopping load of credits and XP while doing so because of the Tier difference...that pays ! When i get -1 or 0 tier difference matches the payout is much, much lower for the same damage. So guess what i prefer now... The trick is not to lose many aircraft, and not to go broke on that as you have to pay for every lost one ( under service cost when you mouse over that ) by knowing what not to attack. That will become obvious enough in a couple of games having your squadrons killed. It is a learning process what not to do. By the way many players used the free skill reset to spec out of full AA builds, as the CV threat was somewhat reduced lately ( Premium CV will up that again probably, but temporarily ) and in some time will reduce further. So it already is not that impossible anymore that it was after the first hotfix AA buffs and in panic full specced AA build players. If you wanted to suffer that was the time....things are more balanced now, by WG and by the fact not every player specs into full AA builds anymore. .

I adopted this skill to agressively hunt for DD in Cruisers or other DD when an oppertunity to do that comes, that will mostly be uninterupted 1:1 situations and likely late game. ( you know i do that with CV as well, but less frequent as that is very situational ) So not aware there are incoming topredo's ? Of course i am but im' heading toward them - and the DD launching them - what makes my speed and the torpedo's speed add up closing in incredibly fast. So this captain skill makes something that would be suicidal/noob mistake into a valid tactic ( charging it ) that ends in a sinking enemy DD, not in a sinking Cruiser or own DD because you ran into it's 1st or 2nd or even 3rd salvo of torpedo's. So this skill isn't for noobs at all per se. It is for those that don't want to be sunk by torpedo's and allows for more usesses them "just see them coming" That is my critic to some of you....have you experimented at all in the fullest what you can do with captain skills/ship modules together with tactics that fit that ability you have gotten with it ? Or you just go by proven mandatory builds and own experience to (calculated) guess what is going to happen ? There is nothing wrong with the latter stats wise as like it says is proven, so it works. But does that mean other not yet widely adopted mixes of skills and tactics do not work ? Or do not work for those that are less experienced what to expect by calculated guessing ?

Bug going around killing planes instantly☆

I'm not going against you, but i edited my text into "flying away from" as that is what i meant too as you enter their long range heavy FLAK outer circle again when leaving an AA area. For some ships that is quite some distance away from them. Heavy long range FLAK in the back has a tendacy to blow up whole squadrons too. Maybe it is because dodging what you can not see coming is more difficult. That is one of the reasons why the "F" key became so lethal on trying to leave an AA zone that you can only use it outside taking damage. And do you know what all captain point skills and all ship modules do to all ships ? I can imagine those ships with the heaviest long range FLAK burst guns being enhanced by captain skills and ship modules in every way ( more FLAK clouds, more efficient AA zones ) and using their sector zoning perfectly beome rediculously powerful. If it is even 2 enhanced in every way AA ships doing that simultaneously, i can even more imagine seeying some excesses that still are no bug. If it is a bug i would like that gone too... -

Could it have been a simultaneously full hit with a FLAK burst from multiple enemy ships at the same time ? For some reason they are always extra deadly from behind, when their heavy AA guns (zone) become active again when you are flying away from them trying to leave their AA range. In the vid that might be going on as far as i can tell..... I experienced such sudden whole squadron in a single hit deaths but always when i flew into or away from several enemy ships FLAK/AA zone. -
You may be right if you get them for missions as they were for free. Still i see them as not much usefull as you can't depend on having them available always unless buying them. And i do understand free to play games need this mechanic. You are not right when it comes to purchased boxes....then flags are no bonus but an almost worthless filler. Because you did not want flags for the money but have to endure getting them untill you spend enough money so you won't get a ship drop too cheap....
-
And the containers we do have now (missions reward) are full of crap flags and other useless crap. Why is this a succesfull mechanism anyway ? Because it incites gamblers to open and buy more ? I only get irritatad by the redicuous worthless rewards. I do not think much of YT guru's but i have to be thankfull for them showing to open hundreds of boxes with only flags, flags, flags. That will cure any desire to buy them.

You know then torpedo's might be coming, change your course regularly to avoid being hit but anticipating launching DD players can lay a pattern in the water that will hit random course changing players too. See, i am not underestimating the skill of very experiences DD players.....i know they manually aim for what they think their targets will be doing. And this Vigilance skill works against that too, rendering them unsuccesfull with that. You see what is coming early, dont have to guess and guess wrong after which you sink. No guessing...Seeying them come early....Be able to react effieciently...Always a miss. Therefore it is much better to see them coming earlier. And no, that is certainly not too late with the Vigilance skill in DD and Cruisers as they are agile enough, or can be made such with ship modules if nessesary. I experience that every time now, to me it is a weapon rendering those DD concealed long range launches completely useless. ( is already hard hitting with longer range launches...with Vigilance it is useless ) Plausible...guess...good for those realllly experieneced players. Which i am not. Still novice at handeling DD and Cruisers when it comes to incoming torpedo's when i want to hunt enemy DD ! Other players that have difficulty with DD obviously too. Should not mean we have to sink for it, because we can then never "learn" can we ? So this Vigilance skill IS very usefull, be it not for the very exprerienced DD/Cruiser player then for the novice ones trying to get better results. Or experienced ones that want to do other things more succesfully.....such as agressieve hunting DD without being hit by torpedo's when you dont have hydro (yet/on CD/at all) Maybe you are upset a captain skill instead pf a player skill can work against experienced players making their attacks less effective ? A lot of skills/abilities do that more or less don't they ? Your opinion. I do not share it and enjoy much more succes not being hit by torpedo's since i installed it on DD and Cruisers. I do better in them now, with some time it will show in the "stats" too. For BB you are probably right...thats why i ditched it long ago thinking it to be useless. But it isn't for ships that are much more agile, and adds to that ability and not makes it useless because they are already agile.
-
Does anyone know something about the price that will be on them ? I want some of these CV, but if they will be 120 euro's or something i will not buy them. Frankly anything above 50 euro's and i will probably spend it on a new game, and play WOWS for free/fun not expecting much of it anymore.
-
You almost would think they fear realeasing all those "new" CV for everyone to buy ( store or premium box drop ) as they will be very popular and used much, resulting in a player base wide protest of multiple CV duckraping again. With these wortheless non-premium boxes you can earn, containling mostly worthless flags but giving a ever so slight chance on a CV drop that will not happen.
-
Well there we can agree on....with my "novice skills" at DD-hunting-DD or Cruisers-hunting-DD i find i can do much more damage ( and thus have better stats in future ) when i can stay alive and not be killed by fast incoming torpeo's with little or no reaction time. Later i ( or other players like me ) can always decide we can do without that captain skill if i feel i will be needing other captain skills more.
-
1) Concealed launching DD are not detected, or they would not be concealed and obviously less a problem. But even seeying the DD does not tell you point 2. 2) Map awareness does not tell you at what angle the torps will be coming in, or in what density or spread, if you have to evade them all or can choose a course between them.......even seeying the DD across a cap does not tell you that for certain if you cannot see him launching. 2 seconds earlier or later could have you sinking.
-
Well the discussion was about low tier DD being too stealthy and what to do against that. What to do against a lower tier DD that is invisible so you don't know it's there, and torpedo's surprise you out of nowhere. We will ignore the [edited] of those that say you should know a DD is there because you don't, it is invisble. Not sailing in a straight line changing course often prevents a lot, but not all. Then the Vigilance skill becomes very usefull : you see the torpedo's coming earlier so you have a good chance to evade them all and make every long range DD's torpedo attack a fail. If more players were to get that skill DD players would have a much harder time sinking ships with concealed launching, if it not fails outright. That is probably why they ( DD players ) are so fierce you should not take it......all the better indication you should. When i first tried Vigilance skill i did so on BB and found it "useless" too as they often still cannot escpae all torpedo's. Never thought to test it on much more agile ships. Now that i did i see this enables you to never get hit again, making long range lauched torpedo's against you completely useless. That makes a DD almost toothless and far easier to kill. I have taken this on my DD too, and behold, i am suddenly able to survive DD vs DD fighting much better. I know enemy DD will launch on me, but without the Vigilance skill and without hydro you never know when exactly and your reaction time is very short. With this you do see them coming and can effectively evade them all. And thus live to sink the enemy DD. So whatever anyone might say about "this and that skill is stupid because this and that skill is more usefull" well then they are tallking about themselves and their own opinion. Besides that, other players cannot use ""ooooh im so good, i dont need this and that skill." They need something that works and they can use. Vigilance is that. And staying alive increases your damage more then a 1% or even 10 % more damage skill would.

Didn't i say SANDWICH of 2 squadrons simultaneously ??? That is 2 strikes at the same time wizard....not 1 strke. I do not lie, you do not read. RTS player blapped DD's with bombs, just as you do now. Never said you could blap a DD in one go though. I said you blap ships trapping them in a torpedo SANDWICH wich involves all torpedo's form 2 squadrons hitting from opposite directions. And obviously DD could escape that, so it had to be cruiser but even better BB. NOW you cannot kill BB with a single strike ( of previously 2 squadrons of torpedo bombers ) unless you hit a magazine. WG ademitted those RTS squadrons did this and it was terror on BB in a stream, and therefore rework is a blessing to every player. So yeah ....new CV are weaker.

Conservatism.....nothing may change. All must be traditional. That is the most sensible thing you can think. We know little of it's details yet. It other games such construction ia/was often not problematic at all, granting members (partial) acces rights.... or not. I really see no problem here.....if they liked they could all have OP ships anyway, without this.

It took the whole match attacking a single DD that after capping - which i was totally unable to prevent despite relentless attacks on it - was set on sinking me and/or the other CV. It really behaved like an angry bee. We both had to make a run for it with that single guy chasing us across the seven seas. One heavy damaged enemy BB came near enough to open fire on me but i qucikly torped that one out of existence. But not that unarmoured little DD that seemed indestructible. I fired 89 rockets into it ! And hit it with a HE bomb before it finally sank. It also shot quite a lot of my aircraft. What a little powerhouse that was ! Isn't that a bit extreme nerfing of CV ? 89 rockets and a whole match shooting almost exclusively that single unarmoured little DD ? I thought 10+ Tiny Tims were already extreme. Heavy damaged BB's and cruiser just sink if i want them to, but not a heavy damaged DD. Those mainly unarmored ships have magic armour ! Should i post this in the bug reporting section ? By the way i'm not complaining about the score....apparently that little DD was worth quite a lot of XP and credits.

U blap BB with dat torp sandwich, as zey cannot escape it. DD you blap with ze bombz ofc. U know that....but u can't agree on anything i say....

What is this really inflated boast, suggesting a HUGE ego has to to with OP's subject ? You know the stats measuring system well.....now learn to play. Changing your captain skills or ships modules to something not "mandatory"" and fit a tactic to that that not many execute is playing the game, experiencing the game and enjoying it. Try it sometime. Be creative.

3 enemy Aircraft Carriers in game is too much!
Beastofwar replied to Puffin_'s topic in General Discussion
I can already imagine the release of very heavy armoured unburnable unstoppable close quarters Russian BB that obliterate armoured belts with flat arc fire up in the face ( That WG balancing wizard guy told us in the vid that is what they are expected to do ) and "heavy gun" French DD that probably burn everthing to the ground real fast.....with over 5 per side killing virtually unapposed. That would ruffle up the meta again i suppose.. If you cant kill them join them i guess....or players will cry nerf again which would be very boring, or smarter beg to un-nerf CV and add submarines to stop them -
I doubt you do....you do boring play with mandatory stats, that is what you do. And get boring mandatory results out of it. You lack creativity. Kiting is but one solution. Not a mandatory one. You lack creativity. It can be.....that is called fun when playing. When you would play Operations you would be used to fight against storming savage hordes too, trying to overwhelm you and killing all your team mates. And not rarely you get to fight those hordes alone to bathe in glory when you manage to win anyway. Sorry don't play Tier IX or X. I have to fight em though....WG's idea of a fair game with equal or fair odds. Now how would WR work...oh wait...better not go there.... Nah you run into too many boring players with mandatory builds that do exactly what you do, but you are better in that. I never have seen you. That is a pity. You bore me. Nah you learn it. Sitting up giving a paws is not true skill at something. It is just learned behaviour, and "stats" just measure and reward that. So don't hide behind those. Sinking that which you "should not be sinking", that is skill.

Beastofwar replied to Puffin_'s topic in General Discussion
I can imagine it was...should have made a screenshot of that moment The "humiliation" equivalent to shooter games "knife kill moments" never gets old. As does bringing a knife to a gunfight, and actually succeed.... But 3 CV in a match....that is bad. -
If they take too long i'm gonna spend the money they could have had in some bar....
-
But it IS a solution if you can't spot the DD as is brought up, because you can then charge the damn DD, sink it and not be hit by torpedo salvo's. Torpedo's have the liability they point back at the location they were fired from....so that DD's location is no longer hidden, although you can't see it yet. You guys are unfamiliar with the concept a (military) charge it seems. You don't seem to comprehend even CV can do that either. Reckless and stupid if it will sink you. But VERY powerful if it does not and sinks whatever was concealed. 25 % earlier torpedo detection gives you the ability to do it without being sunk and get a location on the DD earlier after launch. And that DD will have a problem getting distance from HE loaded 150+ mm main guns with a ship heading straight for it at 30-ish knots. Face it...your life in a DD will become harder every day players learn to not follow some "manadatory" build some YT Guru profesized, but learn what skills do and pick them because they want to use it's specific ability. Why do you think these skill are in the skill tree anyway ? To not pick them ever ? WG marked the "not efficient" ones anyway so you don't have to fear they are useless. And even that can be ignored if you have a plan that fits a certain tactic that works. There are no mandatory builds. There are boring players with mandatory builds that can be sunk with doing something different, however....
-
That is probably why you need to spec into 25 % earlier torpedo detection so after these torpedo's miss you know where to charge with HE loaded guns. But somehow that is though to be a "waste of skill points" But you are right these very fast gunboat like DD can burn you down too easy, whilst zigzagging away from you increasing distance making you miss most salvo's. Noiced that myself too. Quite hard to kill.
