Social Justice Warships: Campaign to Fix CVs censored from Reddit
Beastofwar replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
I do not agree with it either. One of the next things in line is French DD......there will be no shortage of DD after that happens, which will upset other class players too that wil be victim of that.....but we all know that won't last forever. People tire of ships after the new is off it. All use will eventually normalize, without any nerfing or removing nessesary. -
That is a good one, yes Maybe add "Frost....sometimes it makes the blade stick" when another DD dies while waiting for his torpedo reload.....

Very likely....and for that too i am willing to spend money again, aside premium account. -
Impossible play with DD after this CV rework

But like me you know that is not going to last long either.... Conservatist players better realize there is never going to be a lasting "balance" they feel comfortable in. As soon as ""balance" happens, WG sales will drop as everyone is content and do not sea reasong to buy anything to counter something, and something gets thrown in the henhouse to ruffle up some feathers to get sales going again. -

I'm sure WG is brewing on premium AA Destroyers that you can purchase as an "admiral pack" for only 127 euro's. If you do not want to buy them to restore "natural order"...Hey, that is up to you. Freeloaders do not get to choose i suppose. -
After 3 days of playing Kaga, Saipan and Graf Zeppelin disappoint me somewhat .....maybe they do need stealth as their aircraft are rediculously vulnerable to Tier IX-X AA. But i don't know if it would prevent their destruction anyways. GZ's aircraft have very low HP compared to other Tier VII aircraft Kaga's even lower then that. Especially the Kaga's mechanic seems "limitless" resereves indicating those planes should be discardable. I do not like that but it has it's uses ignoring enemy fighter consumable zones......as the squadrons are so large, those fighter consumables will not stop incoming damage at all and get disbanded before they are even effective. And the torpedo bombers drop a LOT of torpedo's in the water if and when they manage to do come through. Meagre upside though. Not a powerful ship. Saipan suffers in Tier IX-X matches as well. Having very few ( almost no reserves ) aircraft means every lost one gimps you a lot. The aircraft themselves are incredibly powerful but that is of little use when they get shot. And going up against tier IX-X some will get shot. The CV cannot take much damage. Not a powerful ship either. The only well rounded, powerfull and hard hitting CV seems Enterprise. But as out forum Guru remarked, the Lexington is better in almost every way..... I do enjoy them however for their curious features...but none of them is OP. No "pay to win" i was accused of last match, together with losing a lot of Karma. They are merely fooled by appearances....

Right, wrong..or ?? question to experienced players
Beastofwar replied to Joergensen's topic in General Discussion
Not to mention surviving that....like me. With quite some surgical damage i ensure you. That is why i have so much time to play. The idiots swearing with that desease will squeek otherwise when it hits them, as it is still a death sentence when it is discovered in a late stadium......1 in 3 humans will get first hand exprienece with it at some point in their life. But i do not wish it upon them. Wisdom however.... -

Impossible play with DD after this CV rework
Beastofwar replied to Mydgard's topic in General Discussion
Not rushing the cap staying under the AA of powerfull AA cruisers. You can then screen them of enemy DD focussing on them if you find them or use (long range) torpedo's against other ships. Or just your guns burning down other ships, some DD are quite the high ROF firestarters. I have seen 3 DD survive a match with 2 CV against them, and won that match as well as top scoring players. Any ship can cap at some point in the match, even a CV. You don't have to rush caps, merely prevent anyone else from capping it untill local supremacy makes it possible whole formations go through there. If there are CV present, let alone 2 of them per side spotting caps is not even your job anymore. In case of 2 enemy CV, rushing a cap hoping to knife fight another DD is stupidity.....not only you beg for death by air attack, chances are the enemy DD will not be there as well as he is smarter. -
All rocket aircraft can start fires too.....especially usefull when you whack larger ship superstructures with them. Some rocket fighters are not even suitable to shoot at DD such as the 3 x TiT ones....too poor accuracy even with fully closed reticule. And if you use secondaries to fight other CV ( happens a lot lately as they are often the only survivors and there are many CV in matches ) in late match it further strenghtens the HE secondaries too. Even if you did nothing else to increase their range, rof and so on.....
-
I have not one complaint on the automatic's. They work far better then manual ones, and not in the least a LOT faster. These are one of the conditions that make it possible to fight DD with CV secondaries, as fire or flooding immidiatly will be stopped, and when ignited again stopped again.

2 CV focussing on a single CV works...
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
So i guess you consider this a more usable build ( no +10 % ROF AA/secondaries but +1 fighter consumable + 2.5 % speed ) if i must have more secondary range instead of stealthyness ? And i do have the replenishment skill and replenishment module......instead of the stealthy skill and stealthy module. I guess that is the reason i do not feel the need to be stealthy, i am rarely deplaned except for that horrible Saipan. Since it has no secondaries i might give that stealth....But i would consider it if it enabled me to break through AA outer rings undetected...but i think it wouldn't due to AA balancing issue's. The only possible benefit being the target not setting their AA one specificly to welcome you. But i know many not even touch AA zoning in randoms. You tell me what use is stealthyness ? Being under attack by aircraft or DD your concealment is lifted anyway for all cruisers and BB to long range shoot at. You actually go closer to the front lines for shorter trips ? Or is it enemy ship might try to alter course to incoming torpedo's earlier ? Not many do that in randoms as they are occupied fighting surface targets and trust their AA/zoning, and i consider the aircraft fast enough to force any angle on them. I do fly around outside their AA range if i have to, and i am a lot faster.... But mayybe i am not seeying the whole package here ? That aiming thing is a no go for me....5 % ( of 5 secs = 0.25 sec faster ?? ) or even the 10 % ( 0.5 sec faster ) are such incredible small differences that they are unnoticable to me, and if at all noticable i would not want to miss the 6.5+ km secondaries i use in a lot in matches. Mostly against CV funny enough, since they survive longest usually and it is not uncommon to fight CV vs CV without even having to hunt them.....as more and more choose to fight with their ship, or try to cap. Aircraft won't give you the edge then..... -
Those 3 x TiT's are inaccurate as hell.....they devastate upper strctures of large heavy cruisers and battleships as these are up close impossible to miss but as far as i tried are nearly useless when shot at evading small DD. The Lexington 2 x TiT fighters used to have better accuracy against DD.....don't know if WG touched them too.

Yup hands down the best one of the premium CV's....didn't know that, but found out in 2 days of playing all.

Glorious CV to CV combat by secondaries ( took the screen very late as we already passed exchanging broadsides ) and a brawling mess around just like a 17th century painting. I salute all participants for such wonderfull gameplay. -
You are right there....so these CV whacking guys should probably not attempt that with Lexington as well. Interesting stuff AA power of CV.....never really looked into it as air attacks were always half baked attempts not even worth interrupting my aircraft operation for.

2 CV focussing on a single CV works...
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
Well inspecting the AA on the Enterprise - the ship that resisted the 2 CV - they focussed on the wrong CV in this game...... 50 x 20 mm guns, 16 x 40 mm guns, 24 x 40 mm guns and 8 x 127 mm guns. That is 98 various range AA guns together. Must be the heaviest combined AA platform in all the game and it has a fighter patrol up to boot. Imagine what happens if you take most AA skills and the AA module, increasing ROF, range, continuous AA damage and number of long range heavy FLAK bursts.....it will be completely immune to any air attack as long as it moves. Such things have their use, when only/mainly CV remain in a match turning such a CV into an unstoppable capping force where other battered ships fail and sink under relentless air attacks.....happens quite a lot actually. -
Yeah @Bear_Necessities you got the strongest premium CV of the bunch allright.....has extra aircraft in the squadron whithout any real drawbacks as they are quite durable and hard hitting. Did you already inspect the AA on that thing ? It has 98 various AA barrels mounted on it.....capable torpedo bulges, considerable armour......such ships do not even punish players that do not invest points/modules in AA.....
-
Other then giving more short legged waypoints you cannot do more.....if required - sailing into narrow island passes - you will have to control the ship yourself, manually. If under DD torpedo attack that is advisable anyway, at least untill that torpedo salvo has passed. And do not forget to click RMB on that DD then to help the secondaries focus before you hop off to rain hellfire on that DD :-)))
-
When you put a line directly behind the CV - or at 180 degrees if you wish - it will always reverse. That is not a bad thing as you can use it when you want it to do that. When you want to turn around simply plot very short lines making 90 degree like angles. It will then attempt to turn going foreward making as tight a turn as it can.

- Today my Saipan was involved in a CV to CV battle over a crucial - their team was ahead in points - match deciding cap. All the other surface ship were dead, killed the last one myself by 3 x TiT carrying fighters which appear to have become worthless to hit DD with ( too inaccurate ) but do rediculous damage to larger, easier to hit ships Before arriving to slug it out with the CV ship to ship over the cap i suddenly remembered - i have this ship 2 days now - that it HAS NO SECONDARIES !! After all the forum crtitcasters peed all over me i do not need this, i did need them very urgently and they were not there. Lucky for me the other CV was a Saipan too, and it appears to have been out of aircraft as well. A known weak point of a Saipan, no shame after a brutal high tier battle. Out of desperation i send out my last 2 fighters expecting them to be just shot by that CV's AA. But the TiT's hit home ( 5 of them ) and an unexpected violent explosion made our side win. Would the guy have rammed their side would have won. Conclusion : very weak construction ship that will dissapoint you when it takes damage, strong Tier X but dangrously few aircraft that hit hard below Tier X but can confront you with the inefficiency of getting deplaned in tough high tier matches. It is much like a glass cannon with limited but powerful shot. - Graf Zeppelin : aircraft fast like rockets but they seem to be as volatile as rocket fuel as well. Explode readily when in contact with AA. Tight turns are not possible, when attempting a tight turn for exapmple to fight a DD you overfly their entire fleet getting shredded, even when full deccelerating in the turn. Require player to take into account dazzeling approach speed when torpedoing or you can not arm torpedo's in time. Divebombing is visually weird too, probably because the aircraft are not only extremely fast but also fly higher then other aircraft. What this is good for i do not know yet. Fighters are much slower then the bombers. Ship has brutal secondaries, probably can kill DD's or CV's without much points/modules having to be dedicated to them. Aircraft are probably best used for 1 pass "boom&zoom"" attacks without attempting to turn around, and "F" when you blitzed your way out of it's AA. That way they might survive their weak construction getting blasted by AA. Conclusion : dissapointing as aircraft are flimpsy fodder that zap but fail to blap unless you adapt your play to fit their features. - Enterprise : visually T7 aircraft but their damage resistance seems T8-ish with excellent survivability like those on the Lexington. Many of them in a squadron. If your playstyle is to keep attacking untill all aircraft are detached or destroyed you can keep attacking enenmies till they are silly. ( or sinking ) large reserves with captain points/modules nearly limitless. Dive bombers use dangerous AP bombs, together with torpedo's making this CV especially dangerous to larger armoured ships. Btw : it was this CV that resisted the focussed attacks of 2 other CV right after match start lasting for minutes untill all their bombers were depleted. It has 98 AA gun barrels..... Conclusion : Probably the strongest of the T8 CV's overall, maybe a bit visually boring ( more like tech tree CV ) Probably is an anti-BB weapon. Kaga : large reserve capacity ( next lauch of the same type is a full squadron ) and more aircraft in a squadron. The divebombers use HE bombs unlike typical IJN divebombers. All aircraft seem to be exceptionally vulnerable to damage, even more the German ones, but without the extreme speed. With captain points and module the reserves are nearly unlimited, making the aircraft almost 1 use discardable. Being laid down as a battleship it does not go down easy. Has 203 mm secondary guns that will be very usefull whenever you need to fight other CV over caps being the only ones left alive. Imagine what this would do to a Saipan.... But their slow ROF and low range make them less suitable for killing DD exceptionally well, a thing some other CV are far better at. Conclusion : forgiving to play ( not easily deplaned ) CV but with somewhat weak aircraft that cannot withstand much damage. The battleship construction hull can become very dangerous to deal with by weak gunned ships like DD or other CV when entering secondary range.

Concerning upcomming CV changes and Harugomu AA spec?
Beastofwar replied to Hannibalurg's topic in General Discussion
I do that by looking where his barrels/turrets are pointing too......could be a lower tier thing ( i'm at T7 ) seen the 8-10 km distances, i do not suggest i'm the best DD player. Yes the caps get ships moving, cannot be without them i agree. Rushing them however - read always be there when expected - is not per definition smart play if there are CV in the match. You are practically setting yourself up to be toast rushing to where the CV has you isolated from stronger AA. In matches without CV it is a gambel against enemy DD mostly, unless they bring supporting cruisers. Which is advisable against CV as well. I do not want to blap DD per definition. They are simply the most vulnerable target at match start due to their weak AA and their behaviour isolating themselves from stronger AA. Untill mid-match they are scrawny prey but the only prey not losing too many aircraft attacking. Given other oppertunities i would no be blapping DD per definition. I do not hate them or anything, i do see their value on the own team ( and enemy team when left alive to roam ) -
Pretty much the only thing changing a lot climbing the tiers in CV is the speed travelling to targets, and supposedly because of the speed far less nimble controls making you turn like a truck, and then like an oil tanker. From T6 on your rockets will refuse to fire coming out of a tight turn too, the higher the tier the longer the delay. As armour, bulkhead protection and hitpoints rise with tier so do aircraft weapons, but that means they still do little damage. But this is by design as a CV is supposed to be a support weapon, helping the other classes where needed. The joke of it all is "helping"" will be translated to "kill steal" and not felt to be helpful by the other classes, while they do lament in what the enemy CV does to them.

2 CV focussing on a single CV works...
Beastofwar replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
Nope....2 squadrons lay more torpedo's in the water then 1 squadron. 2 squadrons of divebombers drop more bombs then 1 divebomber squadron. You simply face 2 x the potential DPM of a single CV attack, unless you stop them from dropping what they could drop. Killing faster does that.....result in less weapons being able to be launched at you.
