I'll be heading down Solo, can't wait. but nervous and I guess unsure what to do thereafter. I booked a VIP ticket for 10:30 arrival, should anyone want to meet up. my arrival station will be Stratford, if anyone wanted to meet before hand. -

In what way are you related to (Navy) ships?
ruggedfun replied to placeholder001's topic in Off-Topic
I Had a Great Great Uncle in the Merchant navy in WW1, the ship he was on was sank by a German U-Boat off the south Coast of Ireland, the ship was called the Minnehaha, he was a captain in his own right but took the role of Fist officer to get back to England From America for some reason we don't know why. He gave his life jacket for an Injured man on the liner. Then an American friend set up a £100 Memorial fund for which the vicar would give to needy women of the town. There is a plaque in one of the town's churches which mentions him and the act of which I have just briefly written, if you want to see a picture of it just message me etc. I Also had a cousin in the royal navy, and got an uncle who served 20-30 years in the royal navy and is now in the Australian navy. I also have an uncle who was in the SBS and fought behind enemy lines in the first gulf war, Andy McNab's book Bravo Two Zero, he is listed as Cpl Smith.
