I cant enjoy warships anymore, please help
Panocek replied to BruderRaziel's topic in General Discussion
There never was rock/paper/scissors to begin with balance wise, only hint of that was single trailer back in 2015 Battleship counter cruisers: technically yes, but cruisers also can burn BBs to the ground or by stuffing one with torpedoes destroyer counter battleship: with torpedoes or fires only cruiser counter destroyers: only if latter gets himself spotted CV can bonk anyone but also anyone can bonk CV hull, nothing new -

I don't see DD/sub/anything in front of that Borodino to act as a spotter. Singled out, blind BB is one chonky damage pinata most of the time. -

Game is supposed to be fun. When it stops being fun, taking a break from it is as sound advice as one can get. -
Oink! Or how over 2 years of thinking, designing, prototyping and testing resulted into this gem of gameplay design for PVP

More like: "so, two coordinated submarine took so long to sink a single ship it cost them the game. Yuri, bring out the buffstick, subs need help and need it now" -

I thought it already went live apparently its just on PTS and scheduled for next (11.4) update. But IIRC drawing distance of that "ping lazor" is capped at 8km, so whether sub is at 8 or 11km, you can't tell as game doesn't tell you so. I don't recall seeing subs in those few battles I've played in last two weeks, so I couldn't confirm nor deny presence of that change myself. Exactly, as WG wants to grab new customers with the subs, while you can sell someone a Tirpitz only so many times. Griefing also sells, while WG seems to be aiming for subs to be "CV level annoying", as in annoying to deal with, but not completely gamebreaking overpowered wheelchair of doom in hands of "server averages". Now thats a major skill issue -

You mean perfect gameplay for perfect average customer? Also old replay, as you can't see pings zooming about anymore -
Favorite shipgirl (Kancolle,Azur lane, Arpeggio of blue steel,Haifuri)

There was one thing I've wanted from the event, as I have little interest in NTR Knight. But still got jebaited into pulling more than free pulls At least Ling stockpile isn't damaged (much) -

Meanwhile I've got all ships sans Seydlitz, one from the shop, within 30 pulls In return, 30 pulls in AK resulted in considerable travesty And have we met before? -
10 pointer captains just to get Concealment is what is actually needed, anything extra is just "nice to have". Sure, you can flex red flare on Okt.Rev/Kirov, but that requires having Kuznetsov in first place. Given castration of turret traverse skill, whether you have or don't have it on slow turning guns like Anshan/Fushun is of little consequence, you won't keep them on target even if try. In return, Fushun has much more versatile smokes than Anshan, slightly better concealment also doesn't hurt. DW torps is acquired taste, but they do work. Short of usual mandatory or information skills (IFA, PT, RL, if you can make use of them to begin with), I find remarkably difficult to get myself into position where "if only I had X skill, I'd win this", with most common case of that being Superintendent on destroyers and annoyingly clingy CV player. On all "keeper" ships I have 10 pointers or barely above that and I don't see real need to for more. Basically that. Having premium boats of all nations to "train" them is all well and good, but focusing on one "main" nation, with preferably legendary commander and bunch of 21pointers as well armada of premiums would be overall best way to farm captain exp to be used for retraining or raising new ones, instead having bazzilion of 14-18 pointers spread out everywhere, with no 21pointer in sight to get exp for respecs

On other side of the coin, one can get "close enough" tech tree equivalents of Coal midtier ships - Fushun instead Anshan, which also happen to be better ship overall. Hill and Nicholas, with latter having not-insignificant edge in concealment, Lazo and Shchors. Former have tweaked spotting plane, latter have better gun reload and one fish per broadside extra. Duke of York and King George the 5th, former have Hydro and improved AP ricochet angles, but loses on rudder shift and gun reload. "Improved AP" doesn't work so spicy, given gun... deficiencies, yes, that would be mild description of KGV/DoY accuracy and overall weakness of their 356mm AP shells, both in penetration and lack of overmatch.

You can check that in game, Armory -> ship -> preview ship. In Bourg case, its 11km, one charge of one plane which drops two bombs, each bomb deals 2400dmg. In Stalin case, its 8km, two charges of one plane which drops three bombs, each bomb deals 2600dmg. Add to that recent change of "submarine location" being pure guessing game, ASW bombs gradually losing damage based on how far from target they detonated and ye, unless you had sub at least briefly spotted, you might as well not concern yourself with ASW planes, you're not going to do much to it.

If you want "somewhat sub resistant" steel ship, then I'm afraid there are none. BBs and large cruisers, Stalingrad included, are favorite targets of subs with their clumsiness and usual reliance on bow-on and latter particularly isn't fond of showing broadside to disengage. Ragnar is technically a destroyer, but pretty big, clumsy and not exactly stealthy at that, lack of hydro and tragically bad ASW doesn't make things better against subs. And she's scheduled to get a nerf too
-
Because paying beta testers is so 2010, when beta testers can pay you
-
AFAIK yes, you need to own the boat to view and therefore, buy camouflages.
-
I've went with Stalingrad -ironically, its only Steel ship that have basis in reality -her guns still hold the line as one of the nastiest large cruiser guns in game, the best AP pen, improved ricochet angles, increased fuse sensitivity to reduce overpens, accurate at all ranges and potent HE -long range radar gives her some utility -while 60s fires and loss of survivability skills hurt, dismantling 72k hp and generous amounts of 50mm plating still takes some time without broadside present Only issue, she can be seen as boring to play, as any attempt at bravery or "imma do a thing, watch me" sends you back to port gulag. You need to play her by the book, slow and steady, putting your range and accuracy to work in first half of the battle and avoiding crossfires like a plague because she and "margin of error" don't mix. While you could say "Petro delives 80% experience of a Stalin", Petro is also having bit of a nerf bat massage as of late and who knows when/where it will stop. Bourgogne suffered quite a bit with IFHE/Armor reworks and there's no shortage of overmatch resistant plating found on cruisers, in return being coated in 32mm plating means any HE spammer worth his salt, Yamato and supershit battleships will have field day with you and your below average health pool. Shikishima could be seen as demo version of Satsuma, one turret less and no gimmick, but much cheaper to run. Still Yamato hull, so brawling is... not advised to put it mildly, despite having potent secondary payload.

Balance changes to Chkalov, Petropavlovsk, Yueyang, Des Moines, and other ships — 0.11.4 Closed Testing (DB 321)
Panocek replied to YabbaCoe's topic in Development Blog
Don't forget about all the gigaunicums being four parallel universes ahead who always had IFHE on their 203 armed cruisers -
One does not simply read. Its 4 total, of which no more than 2 submarines. Thus combinations of 4x DDs 0x SS, 3x DDs 1x SS, 2x DDs 2x SS are allowed. If queue timer gets longer, then these rules get gradually relaxed to yeet players off the queue.

Coming back to the game after a few years. And my god its bad.
Panocek replied to Jammci's topic in General Discussion
You mean the peak of this game popularity was shortly after launch, where prime time bounced around 40-45k on EU server. Game itself, after all these years remain stable around 25-30k so "only 30k" isn't really valid description. Only server that was actually declining in numbers over the years is, ironically enough, their own home server in Russia. Which probably took further hits due to recent events. -

Torpedo range buff on Grozo makes about as much sense as buffing DM secondary range. It is technically a buff, but very difficult to capitalize on, especially as launching fishes past 8km is already bordering on divination. -

Panocek replied to YabbaCoe's topic in Development Blog
40mm upper hull on Petro achieves... Exactly what? No overmatch there, as one needs 572mm guns to do that. 40mm makes Petro vulnerable only to french 240 guns, smaller caliber still fail to pen, while large cruisers pen anyway. Only thing I can think of is making overpens from 305+ guns more frequent when broadside is present. 10km torps on Zorkiy at expense of gun reload... How about no? 12km fishes on Grozovoi also do nothing to help the ship. Chkalov perfectly shows why you don't buy premiums nowadays, especially ones that don't seem to be steaming garbage. And then not many people are into steaming garbage to begin with. USN radar nerf only makes Ru one more desirable, as duration gap closes -

Exactly. Slight differences in additives, pigments, base, how paint aged in the sun/rain etc. Or what is correct shade of "russian green"? Pick the one you like Granted, its a tank graveyard, but shows differences in paints and how they age.
