Thats how you answer such "serious" surveys -
She's older than coal with such config in game
-
And then you have cruiser specifically designed to be battleship-sized can opener. WG blurring lines between classes doesn't help, but you can introduce only so many "normal" cruisers/BBs/DDs before they get repetitive
-
Except Schlieffen have one of THE worst guns ever put on a T10 BB, with small numbers of them to boot to compensate for ship speed, higher than quite a few cruisers, concealment on par if not better than number of cruisers, absolutely violent secondaries when you can't be arsed aiming guns yourself AND nasty torpedo payload. Second, 50mm plating present on Russian supercruisers exist precisely to ricochet any and all feasible battleship guns, in return, they are more than vulnerable when caught broadside.
-
What if this is countergriefing strategy, denying you the damage, thus credits and exp when one does find themselves in lose-lose scenario? Maybe those AFT wielding Asashio players actually are 4 parallel universes ahead of us and our limited perception prevents us from seeing full picture?
-
And such approach is at odds with "I've paid for whole ship thus I will use whole ship, rear guns included"
-
Oh no, cruisers designed to basically counter battleships is making holes in me boat when playing reckless More shocking news at 7pm

Speaking of "155 Atago"...
-
Unlikely, as why WG would remove very much balanced ship that in her CA config perfectly fits the existing line both design and gameplay wise? Kirov was bit of a sore thumb featuring 180mm guns among 130-152 armed cruisers and was often pointed out as WG own hypocrisy "-why Gneisenau can't have 283mm? -caliber progression -Kirov exists". And unlike Mogami, Kirov had only 180mm guns and unlike Z-23, Kirov is also Russian ship so WG wouldn't dare to ruffle home playerbase the wrong way by rearming her with 152mm cannons The more I think about "what-if Suzuya" as tier 9 coal freemium, the more I like the idea, especially as IJN lacks tier 9 coalbote. can switch between 155 and 203 guns, just like GK 155 guns with 31mm HE pen base to make IFHE an enticing option alongside new CLs, with 203 she could accept generic CA captain 12km torps in 2x3 launchers per broadside 10s base reload on 155mm guns, with reload mod brings it almost in line with theoretical 7 rounds/min these guns could achieve*, 203s could have 14-14.5s to not render Ibuki completely obsolete. And then Ibuki herself could get either 12km torpedo option OR option to rearm with Zao guns as gun upgrade *assuming hoists could keep up with ammo/powder @Seraphice any chance of poking dev team with idea of Mogami class as tier 9 freemium to release alongside IJN light cruisers, with option to freely switch between 155 and 203 guns?

Whoa it seems that ALL operations are returning!!
Panocek replied to Andrewbassg's topic in General Discussion
They were "returning" since CV REEEwork... just saying -
IMO Mogami was balanced as "CA" as WG assumed people will switch to 203mm guns as soon as possible, instead sticking with 155mm option, as 203s solve two (artificial) 155mm hurdles - slow turret traverse and shitty firing arcs. Still, current Mogami retains "gimmick" of 27mm hull over other CLs and have IFHE as viable pick. CLs get "utility gimmicks" mostly to compensate for subpar ballistics and penetration, not because "CL are teamplayers". Even with all the gimmicks, no one really considers Cleveland to be better than Baltimore, or Worcester over Des Moines. Brits sacrificed their HE for smoke, Russians have ballistics and range but they don't turn, they sail straight at Berlin... which doesn't really mix well with usual cruiser kind of protection.
-
Issue is, current Mogami with 155mm combines both "CL" caliber with 27mm hull and she is only CL where IFHE is actually interesting proposition - 31mm base HE pen goes up to 38mm and her already low base fire chance isn't affected as much by the skill. At tier 7, we can only hope she will get 26mm HE pen by default, which in turn would at least continue trend of IFHE being viable pick, as it would bring HE pen up to 32mm.
-
From gun calibers posted - 152mm on tier 5-6, 155mm on tier 7 and 150mm on tier 8-10, 155mm was used solely by Mogami class Given Mogami historically had both 155 and 203 calibers, Mogami staying where she is, just in CA config is most likely scenario while other Mogami class would be put on tier 7 in CL line.

What would be acceptably good Armory Coal + Steel ships at this point?
Panocek replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
Nelson was removed from available ships and so far only returned once, during Lighthouse auction for rather hefty amount of doubloons. And by the looks of it, her "replacement" might come alongside Brit battlecruisers https://blog.worldofwarships.com/blog/310 And she, so far, makes Nelson overpowered in comparison. No 3d printer, 2/3 of the firepower (twin turrets instead triples) but with still exposed citadel. Releasing her, Dockyard ship, for Coal would open one massive can of worms I don't think WG wants to interact with. Keep in mind all the options you've listed are rather "fresh" ships. Duke of York turned into Coal more than 3 years after her debut (premiered during 2017 Chrismas marathon, entered Armory for coal somewhere in 2021) while being overall unpopular ship. Alabama would be one of the older ships, but I suppose she's still profitable on US market, as museum ship and whatnot. Hood, Tirpitz are probably still popular purchases thus why WG would deny themselves easy income by turning them into Coal ships? Collab ships like Warhammer ones are extremely unlikely to enter Armory for coal, if nothing else, due to license agreement and cut from sales going to the license holder TL;DR I wouldn't set my hopes high, or at all, whether any of existing ships would turn into coal. -

This actually depends on with who you interact. With Iori... she calls you pervert and you as a sensei only give her ammunition to continue doing so At the same time, where auto struggles, on manual you more often than not can clear stage just fine by, you know, not launching big boom skill into nothingness -

One of reasons why Ibuki is considered "bad" is Mogami being the same ship a tier lower. Same story with Charles Martel and Saint Louis, as only improvement latter gets are ones coming from being tier 9 - heal and reload upgrade. Seattle is straight up downgrade over Cleveland, Buffallo is more of a sidegrade than upgrade over Baltimore. What Iowa gains in speed, she more than loses in agility, while guns aren't that much better over NC. Sendai at tier 5 already would need some attention, as her IRL loadout is effectively identical to Kuma at tier 4. Agano class at tier 6 also would need some help, as Yahagi tier lower isn't exactly good bote. Maya was balanced around her MBRB, thats why she have not only one turret less, but also even slower reload AND weaker shells than Atago. Entire balancing around gimmick consumable is bad approach to begin with. -

Takao was part of the tech tree in beta, but was pushed as Atago to replace Kitakami as T8 premium. At the same time, it would be... 6th? Takao class in the game. Atago, Atago B, ARP Takao, ARP Maya, Maya and now tech tree Takao. Talk about recycling the same ship over and over and over again -

Mogami, tier 8 tech tree CA Mikuma, tier 8 tech tree CL Suzuya/Kumano, tier 9 freemium CA that can switch to 155mm, like current Mogami. Throw in usual tier 9 features and 12km torpedo option and it suddenly would be one big And again, WG yeeted historical 15cm guns from Z23 only because "didn't fit the line" when introducing new Ger DDs. At the same time, we didn't had situation where "sister ships" had different calibers, as its rather rare event for ships to swap calibers IRL. -

T8 CL Mogami class, as there were 4 of them would be fine and "least damaging" I guess. Issue is, there are no CL designs I know of that would fill tier 9 and 10 and not feel completely out of place, Like Kitakami being pressed as tier 10 ship. -

Thing is, IJN CLs weren't particularly stellar as we have last designed CL (?) on tier 5, Yahagi. And she's hardly popular choice So outside of some quality napkin designs, I'd expect Mogami class but in CL config as tier 8-9 at best. As tier 10? She would have to pack SERIOUS torpedo power, powercreeping Aliexpress cruisers when doing so.
