P2W is in the game now (superships and CBs)
Panocek replied to ReimuHakurei's topic in General Discussion
But ARP Yamato was first (?) directly purchasable tier 10 ship for money/doubloons. So in that sense, she is "premium" as you needed to mallet your wallet to get her Obviously, back then she was seen as bit superficial, but now with supershits around, suddenly getting a 1:1 Yamato copy that you can put any captain without retraining is much more enticing option. -
Soviet Destroyers advices for a New Player
Panocek replied to ziratulbihac's topic in General Discussion
You don't use them until you happen to be in position to rush someone around the island, when using said island as cover. That said, you usually don't look for such positions actively. Most of the time you use speed to avoid getting hit when working out your guns all the time. Higher velocity and better than average ballistics means they can keep scoring hits against maneuvering targets at longer ranges, even after extending range with captain skill (Main Battery Expert something something? Used to be Advanced Firing Training). So in that sense, they are "more accurate". And yes, Russian high speed "gunboats" are, if its not clear enough, all about guns. -
Given U-4501 as a premium was hinted in 2020? 2019? NOT getting subs never was an option.

Sunk cost fallacy at its best.

Which is extremely unlikely to happen as WG games at very best used "history" and "realism" as inspiration. Even less so, as WoWs is extremely shallow game on mechanics level and if you were to remove most ahistorical gimmicks... you'd end up with the same ship with different national flag and looks.

Are higher tier ships always this expencive to purchase?
Panocek replied to Karakzorn's topic in General Discussion
Spend time or money. Thats most games for you in 21st century. No one ever said "fun" goes up as tiers go up. Possibly quite the opposite, as increase in ships lethality coupled with increasing sluggishness makes them increasingly unforgiving. -

Same logic behind WoT gold ammo - "just make up the loss by playing midtiers and/or premium tank 4head" -

Then you have ancient Atlanta tier lower, which is considered fine by all metrics otherwise she would have been yeeted from sales long time ago. Maybe poke "balance guys" to take a look how that ship work, to get some inspiration instead trying to squeeze Austin, already weird ship, into tier 8? -

Your options for that would be joining clans discord/teamspeak servers, or check official WoWs discord if they have "looking for a div" section. Forum doesn't have such section and then can be bit... not fast enough to assemble teams in any real life time.

With 1m Free Exp you should be able to get tier 10 just fine.

Fires are purely RNG. And then destroyers losing modules whenever someone looks at them funny is normal.

Lazo + Kuznetzov would be sound-ish idea, assuming @Saad_Khan enjoyed Shchors. Narai and, hopefully, returning Operations farming would be one way of getting Kuznetzov up to speed, assuming WG don't butcher pve economy once more At the same time, mentioned plans of making Operations multitier somewhat reduces value of Lazo, as Narai might lose "tier 7 only" state. And then from Russian coal ships only Khabarovsk would be "outright bad" option, as in, requiring lots of experience to make short ranged clumsy open water gunboat to work without really having "gun" part to begin with.
-
Sadly, any interesting options for Coal/Free Exp were removed from sales because they were that - interesting. Either overperforming or very enjoyable to play, which led to their overpopulation, both were valid reasons for WG back then to remove ship from sales. With newer ships, featuring "If deemed necessary, it can be rebalanced" line in their description WG would simply apply nerfhammer enough times until it stops moving. Also question to you, what kind of playstyle you prefer. Sure, you can get recommendation for objectively decent ship or what I like the most, but it doesn't mean you will enjoy playing her. Then there is issue of upcoming "Economy Rework" which among things removes maintenance cost reductions, significant part tier 10 Special ships (there are no T10 premiums) economy. And given as every "rework" up to date (Carriers, Captains, IFHE/Armor) were rather at players detriment, odds are, with Eco rework players will be shafted again

Pommern is bit dated option IMO, inaccurate BB with, sure, lots of 380mm guns, but that caliber is outdated with proliferation of 27mm+ platings on cruisers. Awful firing arcs also don't help with survivability, as any time you bring rear guns to bear, you're pretty much guaranteed to receive lots of penetrations. Then there's issue of tier 9 premiums having "privilege" of seeing superships, which removed one of points of tier 9 premiums - not being uptiered two tiers up. While Kuznetzov is great commander, his utility scales exponentially the more premium ships you have to make use of him. Getting him just for Petro, with no RU premium ships in sight can be seen as bit of a waste.

just what we needed/s And you thought subs are already fast...

I don't need testing results to see 41kts submarine is going to be... interesting addition to the game. Even more so as it takes literal hell to broke loose for WG to change "gimmick" for the ship, thus I suspect U-4501 will undergo many fascinating changes to keep that "high speed" gimmick, only because WG envisioned her to be Yolo Emilio of underwater variety. -

Truth, logic or balance never were significant obstacle for WG to begin with. Thus only mistake here is you trying to apply logic to Wargaming actions -

You mean Ru CVs totally by accident bypass whole "AA reduces amount of passes" idea by dropping all available ordnance at once, while also having range for safer long range drops? -

Supercavitating subs launching jet fighters, each firing homing Exocets from 10km range, casually skipping any and AA. 10/10 would spreadshiet again -

Supercavitating torps is so 1970s, supercavitating subs is where you at Given fighter rework happened primarily to protect subs, not destroyers, I have just teensy eensy bit of suspicion CVs aren't most favored WG child anymore -

You mean perfect entry to monetize the jesus out of new content stuck in development hell for so long Alternatively, galaxy brain move of handing subs to everyone, absolute rookies included fed the Saint Spreadshiet with... "correct" data to justify such absurd designs. Looking at that german streamer showcase and comparing what data is available side by side with already known U-2501: 10200 vs 18900 hp, almost half the hitpoints on 4501 7s vs 6s Sonar reload, 4501s Sonar is also slightly narrower (making double ping more difficult to score?) 4 singles and 2 triple fish launchers vs 6 single fish launchers only 6.3km range, compared to 2501 14km option as well same torpedo damage and speed on both, that being 8633 and 12500 respectively. But 4501 have 90s reload 4501 can stay underwater for additional 70s (350 capacity vs 280) only 19kts on the surface vs 26kts on 2501, former is also bit more agile 4501 is obscenely fast underwater, even compared to absurdly fast 2501 (41kts vs 31kts), can dive and ascend much faster than 2501 (11.4s and 4m/s vs 18.4s and 3.4m/s respectively) Concealment is identical on both. Looking at that... 4501 is LITERALLY yoloing assasin that have next to no room for error with its tiny hp pool and short range torps, which means players will either gloriously suck donkey kongs or obliterate most targets with hit and run or kiting tactics with very little room inbetween, also catching up to one will be possible only on Kleber and even that is going to be one sweatshop to achieve, catching up to sub clocking 50kts at periscope/max depth. Rest of the destroyers... uh, have fun? -

Yes, they are having bit of a rough patch... after how many years of milking licenses copy/paste style and repeatedly failing to release good games again? As only "good" recent EA release I can think of is C&C Remaster and thats not exactly blast of new, fresh creativity. Battlefields were either unimpressive or woke garbage as of late. And one theory about EA changing owner I've heard they actually might want to be bought out, after Bethesda and Activision were acquired by Microsoft. Not sure how that would work out and what would be the purpose tho, guessing "as long as correct people stay in power or get nice parachutes to bail themselves out" So usual case of AL way of storytelling Still, META'd Renown twins are very much art wise, even if Renown herself is still denser than black hole -

And yet, bottom line is profit for both. As EA shows, you can be one of the most despised companies and you still drown in money. Community quality is kinda "who cares", moderators exist for a reason to reign their worst excesses and even then, its usually platform moderators who do it to keep head above water, not your employees. Sure, goodwill among players is nice and all, but it seems to not cover the bills to the level you'd want to. I don't mind purchasing skins for AL, but I'm picky enough it simply rarely happens - my entire paid skin acquisition so far is 6 skins. Thats... not a lot of money extracted from 3 years+ customer. Actually I'd need to catch up with previous events I've at very best glossed over, given "all over the place" way of storytelling in AL.
