Radar given to worst performing "DD hunting" cruisers - USN. RU got these due to russian bias (and being kinda big and clumsy and glass cruisers) 0.5.1 - USN DDs got changed torpedo loadout, which in tl;dr allowed tier 7 and up to drop torpedoes unspotted. 0.5.2 - Benson was allowed to keep 5 turrets and extra hp on B hull, RU DDs nerfed (Kiev hp, HE damage reduction and fire chance - where is soviet bias when you need one!?), general nerf to torpedo detection (torps spotted 100m to 500m closer) 0.5.3 - adding Torp Acceleration skill Very nerf DD much ded no DD found in battles

5.3 patch bolstered importance of long range AA guns both by plain dps increase and adding manual AA skill for extra oomph. From personal experience in North Carolina/Iowa, if you're in lower tier CV forget about attacking these, especially if they have unusually high AA rating. On other hand, don't be afraid to ask teammates to soften up battleships with HE, not so much for damage but to cripple AA. On other hand, tier 9+ CV have so many squadrons and they are so fast and durable they can attack even fully AA built ships - granted, they will lose few planes, but especially after USN DB squads they will be shaved clean from most of their AA, so next attacks will be pretty much unhindered.

Gearing is noticeably slower, which can make escape from faster cruisers not so obvious. Guns may have blistering rate of fire, but they are still Dual Purpose Mortars. Damage output per salvo is kinda lackluster, IJN 127mm hits much harder and have better fire chance. Nerf all the things and go back to bathtub wars But then Pokeboat was OP with its repairs...

Feel free to "DD hunt" in cruiser yourself if you think its just that simple to go there and rekt puny derpstroyers. Considering Shima already can have 12km 77kn torps, which allows both 7km torping and "area denial" long(ish) range carpets. So F3 torps despite all the hype is still nerf. Also I get it right, Shima will have 3 torpedo loadouts to choose from?

In game gun layout have nothing in common with accuracy. AFAIK there is accuracy formula which is nation wide, not ship specific and IJN BBs are inherently more accurate due to that, not shell interferences when fired from triple turrets The same reason cruisers have much more accurate guns - or rather battleships have obscene at times accuracy dispersion, solely to balance brutality of high caliber shells... which still doesn't stop BBs to achieve hit rate way above historical values.

Not anymore for some time - easily seen against tier 9+ IJN CV, when you have 3 TB squads coming, only targeted one drop is scattered, two are coming straight -

So I've had the opportunity to test fire reworked Iowa AA build (AFT, manual AA, AA range upg, AA dps upg, flag) against Essex... still ineffective. From 2 DB and 1 TB only 5 planes knocked down before delivering payload, 9 in total. Ship lost most AA so on next attack run I've knocked only 4 planes What was the point of USN BB again? -

There is never enough copy/paste ships. That or WG figured out Profintern with 21km range on 130mm guns is too ridiculous even by WG standards so they had to splatter another russian premium ASAP.

That is called "grindwall", either you suffer not so enjoyable ship or splash the cash. And with lowtiers you're done in few battles anyway, but hightiers... not so much.

While Balti/DM ballistics are far from awesome, main battery range upgrade combined with concealment build allows you to pepper battleships unspotted. Which is at least something when you get tossed against multiple battleships. AA build, while its noble and such, it matters little when next door you have Iowa which on her own can create quite a no-fly zone, thus Baltimore AA is relegated more into scattering torpedo/bomb drops, which isn't that effective anyway against multiple squadrons, as only one at the time is affected. Knocking planes doesn't even pay well as IIRC 40 plane kills equal ship kill of the same tier.

AFAIK said upgrade protects against turret incapacitation (unable to fire, repairs on their way), not destruction -
Kongo is the ship you know already, Fuso definitely have the power but I just loathe that turret layout, good for long range shelling, not so much if you get close and personal. No idea about Nagato, but she seems to be decent ship. Amagi is dubbed for best T8 BB, Izumo have only awkward turret layout and her beta reputation. Yamato is well, Yamato, go to tier 10 BB.

Its not like WG can't give "normal" income for ship based on premium one... Not to mention WG can add two Takaos - Red, Fog version as "available through missions" and Blue Steel variant obtainable by completing the mission and buying her out for lets say, 7k gold
