Love CV people having full scale hard on about my Iowa when they are tier lower CV -
Funnily enough there were no issues whatsoever on WoWp release... Only thing that held "unification" was massive release event "who grinds tier 10 first" with significant rewards IIRC.

I don't know, Taiho/Essex still can bomb my fully AA specced Iowa just fine. And especially after USN 3 DB squads my supposed "AA battleship" loses most of AA defenses, so next bombing run will be delivered with little if any casualties

So far we were unable to purchase Kongo/Myoko ships and captains. I guess agreement between WG and Arpeggio copytight owners doesn't allow WG to sell ships/related goods directly. -
2nd stage grants you the ship, 3rd another captain, 4th another ship. Haruna cpt. should be in barracks/crew reserves ONLY when you have Yokosuka port. Its not that hard to at least look around, there is at least one daily "where is my ship" topic...

This. North Carolina have plenty of range so you can safely spec into AA. Not only to bolster one of ship strongpoints, but because secondaries are rather useless with 4.5km base range even with upgrades. Though more than range you will enjoy extra speed, while keeping decent agility for the ship - NC AP is very slow thus have very steep trajectory and IIRC it takes around 16s to reach 23km, combined with shotgun spread firing past 15km at something more nimble than beached BB is pointless. And even then you're not expected to hit your target

AA got rebalanced a bit in 5.3 - small/mid caliber AA guns were nerfed in dps, sometimes significantly, but large caliber AA got significantly buffed in terms of dps. "Manual AA" skill at tier 4 was also added, which further improves big AA guns. Overall, IJN were hit the most in terms of AA defense, USN, especially BBs improved in that matter, to the point dedicated AA build Freedom Bottlesheep can create almost no fly zone when undamaged. Des Moines and hightier German cruisers are AA powerhouses too It may sound scary, but most carriers got faster planes so well executed bombing runs can get in and get out without many casualties. Mentioned USN 1000lbers are also very effective when it comes to AA removal from battleships

From handful of testserver battles certainly I could notice extra turret survivability on pretty much all DDs. From 10 battles or so in Khaba I didn't lose single turret, worst case was Gearing - incapacitated (but not destroyed) both front turrets after faceful of HE from Montana at point blank that shave 3/4 of my hp On other hand repeating hits on turret will knock these out eventually

And you think Takao mission will be easy? Myoko, tier lower ship was kinda pain in the arse, for tier higher vessel I expect missions to be at least demanding tier 8+ which already limits amount of handed out ships. WG also benefits from these missions - from port sales to premium account and free exp conversion to get "better suited" ships for the job. And statistically Atago isn't OP, its just well balanced Another idea would be two Takaos - from the Fog, that can be obtained with missions and "Blue Steel", premium version, buyable after completing mission for lets say, 8k gold or so. That or "premium" paintjob for Takao, that increases credit and exp incomes around Atago levels buyable with gold just like premium paint for Iowa/Tashkient, Fletcher and few other ships I think.

Considering WG in 5.5 test gave DF for hightier carriers with different bonuses per nation, maybe USN DF have lower multiplier and/or effect is different for different ships? After all, DM have meaty dps at long range, getting that tripled might be troublesome. I guess without going to RU forums and asking for exact AA mechanics we can only guess and pew pew at planes Pepsicola/NO can be tested if AA DF benefits 40mm Bofors, as these have somewhat weak long range. -
With USN you will be HEspamming at 18km too, with one difference - unable to hit anything that can press A and D from time to time. Not so much better penetration, but faster shell velocity means flatter trajectory, which means hitting things at better angle. And angle of impact have actually a lot of value to the point "weaker" shells can penetrate easier at most combat distances. On positive, SHS from Baltimore/DM enter plunging fire from 13-14km, so they can citadel that way. I've scored few citadels against North Carolina that way, when peppering them at 16km with Baltimore.

After playing rashian kruzers I must say soviet bias is real with these guns. Fragile yes, not exactly agile yes, but with these you just sit at max range and kemp bush with guns delivering communisms in less than 10s. Moskva kiting battleships at 20km or citadelling them when close and personal is pure and unrefined unfair plane Khabarovsk and Gearing with turrets attached are fun sheeps as well -

AFAIK AA barrage skill was changed so it triples damage output of all 25mm or higher guns -

It works only to a point - Iowa even with full scale AA setup can't protect itself from tier 9+ CV strikes. Simply too many too fast and too durable planes.

WoT have public missions with tier 10 as reward, although these missions require truckload of time, skill, luck and having proper tank lineup to start with. And regarding Takao, WG can simply cut income to normal tier 8 cruiser... Or can implement both - "Fog" Takao, obtainable by missions and "Blue Steel" Takao with premium income, obtainable by missions THEN buyable with gold.
