Last time I've played Odinburger and Mogami, both were capable of stealth torping. Granted, 3 fishes on Odin won't devstrike battleship, but 1.2km margin should help torping anyway. Mogami packs the same wall of torps as Takao class, but all facing rearward, handy when kiting, not so much on the offensive. On other hand Mogami can brutalize things with 15 shell salvo and doesn't suffer (as severe) reload penalty while keeping 3/5 firepower at angle. Still, both are increasingly obsolete with new/rebalanced additions.

Atago actually have good turret traverse, but 16s reload might leave you wanting. Especially when every other non IJN CA have 10s reload camo advantage is a bit gone with Cleveland and Odinburger too, though unlike these you can play Kagero with citadel

Whole theory goes out the window when 406+ shells start massaging your boat.

Zed/Gaede 15cm guns don't have 1/4 HE pen, but thanks to their caliber IFHE actually makes sense

Don't forget turret traverse, shell velocity seems to be improved tho.

Scharn has very good firing angle on rear turret, so keeping all guns on target combined with angle on verge of autobouce is very possible

Except these torps were at 1.4km for year or two... You can always slap Torpedo Acceleration on Fletcher torps, so you get all three - bigger bang, faster reload and shorter reaction time. It was glorious when I was grinding Fletcher

Not only that, FurryTaco had abysmal turret traverse of 45s/180, only to be buffed some time later. And then she got 3x2 turret layout, which turned her from underdog to awesome

I haven't had luxury of chasing CV yet, but Helena can oneshot transports if you spread salvo on entire length of the ship. Ayygle and Nicholas can slow down pursuit with sudden torpedobeats tho
