AA makes no sense on the new ijn light cruiser line
Panocek replied to leonport's topic in General Discussion
I've noticed that and I don't have much issues here (besides AA in general being useless by design). But for the love of god, do something about turrets on tier 8-10 ships, because whenever I see these, all I see are Flatten them to match Mogami 155 aesthetic or something, because currently they just look bad. Besides, why not keeping 155mm caliber on entire line? 31mm HE pen, or 38mm with IFHE would make line actually stand out enough to warrant IFHE build on them, something no one sober would consider on Ru or USN light cruisers. -

I refer you to that "dragon" comic above -

Precisely why they get gimmick of aimed torpedoes to help with that. -
IJN CL have one of the highest dps values on long range, beating even "bussian rias" cruisers, while OG light cruisers with dual purpose main guns, Worcester and Minotaur, are embarrassingly bad in comparison. Only flak count is low, but then any CV player aware of how WSAD keys work will evade these anyway.

Best one can hope for is supershit with hopefully "super" AA, but also guaranteed to face supershit CVs, bringing oneself back to square one -

Except proximity fuses for 40mm caliber appeared well after the war. Smallest caliber US could put these on was 76mm, hence revival of ancient 76mm/50 gun, slapping it with somewhat automated loading and then remote radar targeting. Where VT fuses made an impact during the war and shortly after were large caliber AA guns. -
No one knows. Or rather, WG knows but they ain't tellin

Even in Ultimate Frontier, most open tier 7 Operation Colorado was fine. Or rather, I took greater offense with her armor layout than speed, as you could just truck your way towards base and act as stationary battery there. -
At the same time star rewards are going to be replaced by daily/weekly PvE missions, which is a win in my book - to have incentive to play few Operations regularly instead waiting weeks for that "optimal" one so I can fry my brain from farming it entire day

Well, only ships that is "disadvantaged" are destroyers, especially of torpedo oriented type as you simply need a lot of damage output to deal with overwhelming enemy numbers before you succumb to damage taken. Otherwise, I don't see why or how old Ops powerhouses would suddenly became disadvantaged. And its not a new thing either. Same goes for any PvE game where you face overwhelming enemy opposition - in Armored Warfare there's plenty of vehicles borderline useless in PvE, while some are go-to picks, either due to armor or firepower, or combination of both. -
No, you will enter your tier 7 Weimar into any Operation at random. Which means playing Raptor Rescue or Aegis on tier 7. Whether you will be paired with tier 8 teammates, remains to be seen

You mean average Convoy experience? "What do you mean in objective based game mode there are objectives to follow?" Mainz is still going to be cracked in T8 Operations as well. T8 Ops also enable old ships like Tirpitz to shine, where you can have your secondary build to be enjoyed to the full extent, while Gneisenau full secondary was bit limited in main gun department, as was Scharnhorst. -
How are you coping with random map in Random games then?

You *will* play Newport, whether you want to or not!
Panocek replied to Verblonde's topic in General Discussion
Question is, whether matchmaker will aim for single-tier teams, or just dump who and whatever happens to be in the queue. Single tier, two tier only if queue gets long should be manageable. And then same issue as its now - Weimar enjoyers will become Mainz enjoyers and they will continue farming everyone and everything, while anyone bringing "non meta" ships will be ridiculed as usual -

Key ingredient to Newport are teammates with screen turned on. I know, I know, thats steep requirement to ask but alas Bigger concern I have about mixed tier Operations. Unless matchmaking will try and assemble single tier teams (T6 only etc) there is no reason to not play tier 8 ships in first place, as you're risking dragging your tier 6-7 boat into t8 loaded team and face stiffer opposition accordingly. -
26mm HE pen is already a boon, as with IFHE you can reach 32mm pen, unique among tier 7 CLs

Operations returning with daily/weekly missions attached is one of the best news pieces so far, try to not screw it up @YabbaCoe can you ask whether matchmaking will try to assemble single-tier teams for Operations, or mixed tier teams will be allowed/preferable? Or it is too early to tell? -
You mean they have one of the best long range AA in game, both in dps values and range, as not a lot of ships can boast 190+ dps and 6.9km range there? Keep in mind "having the best" doesn't mean actually good
-
Actually that one looks disappointing, being basically Kremlin copy/paste with bit more hp, probably bit more armor, same guns and gimmick that is bit situational (?) Assuming 25mm HE pen will stay, I'm not so sure about that
-
And when we had "non Early Access" kind of ship line addition? In 2016?
-
Quota of new line every three months need to be reached, who cares whether new ships are actually popular, especially as people keep buying them in Early Access anyway

Same as Hill, Mikoyan or Dido - mediocre welfare midtier premium to hand out during mission marathon. Germans are indeed missing hightier coal cruiser option, also might be hint of removing Agir from available ships, as concept of Free Exp ships is rather expired at this point. T9 also can be easily directly monetized by putting one in premium shop, while T10 doubloon-available ships are rare (ARP Yamato only so far?). RB is already covered by travesty known as Siegfried. Worst option would be Dockyard 8gun CB at tier 10, with mediocre German 305s to boot would require some quality gimmicks to make it work, and I don't mean cranked up secondaries. On other hand, cruiser/DD dispersion could do for that, coupled with touch more range

2500 HE damage per shell is already above average for 152mm caliber and on par with Russian 180mm or German 203mm. Bigger concern is HE pen on listed ships, completely defying current logic - 31mm HE pen on tier 7, but 25mm on tiers 8-10. 15-18gun broadside isn't small by any means either, so entire line have this Venezia feel to it - heavy salvos countered by long reload Zao indeed cries... from laughter, looking at that reload, HE pen and battleship grade handling on a ship without even 30mm plating.
