"AA spec" in numbers does seem quite high, compared to alternatives. 10% dps from BFT, 5% dps and flak from AA flag, 15% flak from AFT, 15% both from 3mil AA upgrade. Combined with high base values, things can get interesting In comparison, speccing for main gun performance ends at 7% main gun dispersion, up to 4% fire chance from DE and flags and 13% reload AT EXPENSE of turret traverse. So some "adjustment" to skills needed?

Or... On positive end of things, Ryujo seems to be better pick for Operations - IJN overspecialization into BB killers works just fine in Ops, although reee can be heard when losing initial squadron on returns to two Shiratsuyus in Aegis

Well, now you kinda have to evade flak bursts on top of high-ish constant dps, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And while Lexington fixes Rangers' lack of damage, she can suffer from T8TM matchmaking at times

Which can be nice incentive to free exp or at least premium acc your way through for T10 and then either keep premium account, purchase premium paint or git gud with your new tier 10 boat

On other hand flying over islands marvelously screw up with rocket and torpedo runs, leaving DB for the task. And then there is issue of getting out. Attacking from the open, drop the payload and gtfo over island seems to be more useful, but even then planes get shot down on their happy way to the skies, regardless how perfectly you carry out your attack.

One issue introduced with first hotfix are plane losses when they drop their payload - it doesn't matter if player can plan and execute flawless strike run with island cover, mindful of DFAA cooldown etc, when planes simply get shredded on their way up after releasing payload. Either aircraft without ordnance would have to be ignored by AA or have shorter climb time, due to not having 1ton of boomies strapped to them. Or empty planes join to the squadron and then can be released manually with F key, another use of F key would send entire squadron home. @MrConway any chance of sending that to the dev team?

And this is the problem. DD can play around islands, smoke to damage cruisers, same as cruisers can play around and damage BB. But now all "AA ship" have to do is to make sure AA is not disabled to considerably neuter CV

And yet WG removed odd tiered carrierbotes, some of which were fun and/or useful to play, for Operations for example. And I agree other lines have fun mid tier boats. But for average player there is always "he got bigger boat" incentive. Finest Free Exp+Premium account sink WG developed so far

And this is what WG want - grind incentive. "Next one will be better"

And yet IJN rockets are more accurate, so you can put more of them on target. AP divebombers can 2shot cruisers with some practice and deal unrepairable citadel damage. USN HE bombs are easier to deal damage with + random fire (and frankly excel against DD) but then that damage is repairable.

Or notice, there are two more squadron types than TB Yep, that nerf to mid range completely butchered the ship, as it deals 1480dps instead 1492dps with AA flag and BFT only

Except it doesn't. Dps change is from what I see mostly single digit, while flak damage ramps up on tiers 6-8 TL;DR - we're pretty much settled with 0.8.0 flak and 0.8.0.1 continous dps. Until another hotfix rolls in -
So, hotfix 2.0 arrived... and I don't see any relevant changes besides fixing flak for low-mid tiers. Most ships got barely noticeable nerf to AA, usually single to low two digits, on other hand Atlanta might need her own escort again - she lost chunk of short range dps (hotfix 1 - 307dps@short, 232dps@long, now 191dps@short and 219dps@long).

Dunno, I'm not expert at the matter of tryharding, I just play4fun with above average results, which is considered tryharding nowadays it seems -

3 short honks seems to work as warning for incoming torpedoes, granted it should be 5 if we go by actual rulebook but well, I don't expect internet boat captains to even bother reading about these. -
