  1. Technically NC, Iowa and Monty have SHS but without extra ricochet angles. On other hand Pensacola, Nope Orlean and Indy use "regular" shells with gimmick AP ricochet angles

    I do not own any premium CVs, but from witnessing them in randoms I'd skip Kaga and Saipan, former for being balanced around her huge plane reserves, which work on T8, not so much on T10. Saipan on other hand have no reserves to replace casualties when uptiered. Enterprise seems to have no such derpy gimmick, while GZ have damn fast planes for in and out action IIRC

    Get 18lvl points captain and we can start talking about proper Atlanta. PT, AR, BFT, CE, AFT, IFHE. But as she's premium, she can accept any captain from the same nation, I've used to run mine with Des Moines captain before got Cleveland/Atlanta captain up for the task

    You're not outtiered either. Which matters for cruisers and carriers due to their power spike, less so for DDs and battleboats.
  9. Well, Ruskies aren't exactly destroyers, more like cruisers. If you get bored of them, I can only recommend Frech cruisers. Mid tiers not so much, but from tier 8 onwards they become 3xl RU DD - cruiser zipping around at 40-43kts slinging 203mm shells left right and baguette Your go-to RU gunboat should end up something like this PT or PM is up for debate, LS is mandatory, SE as well. BFT improves your main gun dakka as well AA, AFT adds extra range and makes flak bit more lethal, SI becomes essential from tier 8 onwards as Kiev, Tashkent and Kebab can equip heal instead smoke. Demo Kekspert for fires, or AR+PT/PM if you want more reliable buff.

    To save yourself from wheelbarrow of frustration I'd advise against. But if you're determined/masochistic enough, carry on IJN have better torpedo bombers than USN, but its their only solid pick. Hightier rockets have inadequate HE pen for anything bigger than cruiser, AP bombs require A LOT of practice to avoid overpenetrating cruisers or ricocheting off decks and they are super useless against DDs. USN are more of a generalists - rockets, especially Tiny Tims can dent pretty much anything, dive bombers are bread and butter, especially as Midway TB are a joke now (Lex ones still remain viable) Planes when they are ready to drop (green reticle) gain 30% damage reduction, which you can and even should use offensively and defensively on rockets and TB. With TB, I start attack run at considerable distance from target, around 7-8km at full speed, that way planes enter AA with damage reduction already, coupled with 6.1km detection on IJN TB and their speed, it takes sharp captain to evade that kind rush b. Once fishes are in the water and you've flown into considerable AA, start another run as soon as possible and fly out out danger zone with dmg reduction. Similar tactic with rockets, DOESN"T work with dive bombers - for them you want to simply boost away while avoiding flak

    Back in medieval times I recall WG considerably increasing time for ship wreck to sink, to the point ships destroyed by fire/small caliber guns would take two or three minutes to go down. Obviously boats traumatized by multiple torpedoes or BB sized munitions would go down quick
  12. RU mid tier "DDs" got awhile ago turret traverse buff, so Podvo, Gnevny and Minsk have the same decent turret traverse as Kiev. Which frees them from EM requirement. On other hand you still can tack EM on Fushun/Anshan and have workable turret traverse with actually great camo (with CE) and set of 8km torps

  14. First, start TB run quite a distance away, as IJN TB, especially with appropriate upgrade have LOOONG ready-to-drop time. Combine that with their above average speed, concealment and you can (and should) carry out basically boom and zoom attacks, with entering another "attack run" as soon as possible if within range of heavy-ish AA for 30% dmg reduction. Last Gasp activates itself if squadron is shredded enough, ie suddenly out of 12 planes you got 3 or whatever attack wing number is.

    TiTs and HVARs always had different drop patterns Damage TiTs can deal also can be surprisingly high, provided you don't land half the rockets on AA/secondaries/whatever for 0dmg, making them sort of alternative for DB and certainly able to bugger off after attack

    Most cruiser captain effectively ends at 10-12-14 points after obtaining CE and maybe EM or IFHE, so keeping Manual AA for example on most of them isn't going to hamper their anti ship effectiveness much. For battleships, AFT lost some of its potency as all around secondary/AA skill, though on US/UK/FR due to amount of flak they put out, it still should be effective. Destroyers still rock on with their old builds as unless you go balls to the walls AA on few select ships you're not going to do much anyway. Russian gunboats pick "AA" skills anyway for gun buffs, so again, no change there.

    Lolanta/Cleveland capitan of mine PT,AR, BFT, CE, IFHE, AFT. While ditching AFT is an option, 11km range on T9 is very no bueno, even if Dual Purpose Mortars are mortars. upgrade wise, MAM1, [whatever you fancy mod.1], AA guns mod.1 and Propulsion mod. Rudder shift on Atlanta is inexcusable, but unless your rudder time is well above 15s I find quicker acceleration more useful. And if you have over 15s rudder time, you usually take DCS mod2

  22. Pretty much. Only chance to rack up some nice damage numbers is when battleships decide to go solo yolo and even then plane casualties might be unavoidable. Until then, your best bet is to play spotter and molest random DD who decided to go brave, hoping you don't bump into cruisers, especially AA ones.
