How do I improve by playing randoms as an intermediate player?
Panocek replied to Yosha_AtaIante's topic in General Discussion
Reminds me of "perfectionist" talk I had not so long ago At the same time, there's always desire to improve, which comes at ever greater effort with every step up. I guess some just want to keep going until they achieve 99.9% WR solo in crappiest boat possible? -

Chunk of these stats being earned in CVs. Surface ships don't look as glorious, hence the topic. -
You know, there's entire game mode called as such in Almost Working Armored Warfare. With good chunk of playerbase being eastern european and there was a reason why Global Chat had to be disabled

Define "better player". -have higher WR? Play and master ships that can pull their weight and then have spare horsepower to drag team to victory, be it in Div or Solo -skilled in Randoms? I don't think you can speedrun that without playing jesuston of games to "see all scenarios" and react to them accordingly. And then "facing other skilled players" is bit rare occurrence, but one thing universally applies - never fight a fair fight, whether you face potato or gigaunicum. Obviously latter will actively try to fight you when having advantage whenever possible, so I guess try and recognise when you're about to fight uphill battle? -skilled in CBs? Thats more of a team coordination and discipline effort than personal one? -knowing all game mechanics, detection/HE pen/AP pen/armor layouts by heart? Well, it helps but as long as you have vague clue which-ship-have-what you should be good to go? Kiting is more consistent playstyle because puts you out of harms way, unlike pushing which makes you prime target, if nothing else, by virtue of being the closest target that poses immediate threat. And then once caps are secured, there is rarely need for pushing, unless game is already decided and you're in need of memes. -
Sounds reasonable enough. At the same time, why not both? "Random Operation" and "Operation of the Week", latter featuring Halloween and then Wolfpack running in parallel
-
@YabbaCoe @Seraphice Any chance of clearing that up, why "Operation of the week" is removed with 11.8 only to return with 11.9? And which of the two is going to be "standard" mode for Operations in the long run?

Go with whatever color you like and/or might fit your current played character. I've got yellow one on first run of the event to match Ningguang, then electro one for Shogun. Third one probably will be dendro I guess, though I lack and will lack dendro characters for a while except freebie Collei. -

You mean perfect customer - drops preferably fat load of money on some shiny stuff, gets disappointed, leaves and reduces server load, making company more ecologically friendly. -
Then you have higher ups pushing for subs solely as new potential source of revenue, regadless how it actually plays and impacts the game. That and subs are in the works for years, bean counters finally want to see return of investment

Then how come Queen Elizabeth haven't been castrated from 4.5" mounts? She and Renown after all the refits had very similar AA package and IDENTICAL secondary loadout of 10x2 4.5" guns, 5 twin turrets per broadside I'm afraid I have to diagnose this as severe case of bull

I haven't played enough Operations on PTS to draw any conclusions, but enemy types are variable now AND change based on team composition - mixed 7-8 team in Hermes resulted in Scharnhorst/Gneisenau/Bismarck/Tirpitz fleet, pure T8 team was met with Bismarck/Tirpitz/FdG/Pommern, all with buffed hp (FdG twins having 100k+ hp). At the same time, T8 + single Atlanta team was facing the same Bis/Tirp/FdG/Pomm team, but with lesser hp buff. Thus Izumo being replaced by Yamato or Shikishima on Newport for T8 heavy teams might be part of the course. I think someone somewhere mentioned facing Ohio instead Missouri in Narai? At the same time, all battles played, that being +-15 of them, all were won with all secondaries achieved without hint of cooperation between players, giving impression of Operations being even easier than before -

At the same time, Munchen is excellent Randoms ship, unlike bit short ranged Weimar, which also have much worse concealment (9.4km for the Munchen) Mogami155, Chapayev/Kutuzov/Irian, Mainz, Edinbruh, Cleveland if you can get by with ballistics. Baltimore/Charles Martel would be go-to CA picks, Atago/Cheshire if you want heal for some sustain. Akizuki is supreme DD. Massa/Bismarck/Tirpitz as go-to BBs thanks to finally long reach on secondaries. DD caliber cruisers like Harbin aren't going to shine with their short range and lack of HE pen, Sandy might work thanks to SAP though. Lexington probably is going to be the most versatile. Keep in mind enemies scale not only in hp, but also shell damage. I had bit of a moment when 80k hp Colorado did a 1500dmg overpen to me, so said buffed Yamato probably would start poking Shikishima sized holes, except with 9 barrels instead 6. Haven't paid attention to reload though. -

The only possible problem is when you bring tier 6 ship and get tossed into T8 heavy team, so you face improved enemies with your smol boat. All "I don't want to play X scenario" issues are solved by assembling division and manually selecting map you want to play, that doesn't change. -

Tier 6 to 8. Which means you can play Narai with tier 6 ships, or storm the base in Killer Whale with tier 8s. Given tier 6 and 7 were played for years AND tier 8 premiums tend to be more profitable, it is very likely T8 boats will see great majority of action. With enemies scaled up accordingly, so don't be surprised when you see Yamato having 120k hp instead old Izumo in Newport. -

Mixed tier and Random Operations. So you can't pick ships for specific Operations like you can now, not without assembling full division. -

You mean you'd merely replace Weimar for Mainz as prime farming CL. At the same time, I don't get Weimar hate, when Munchen can do the same, while Fiji/Shchors/Helena also exist. Ironically, Weimar, Munchen and even Nurnberg remain as competitive not-tier-8 cruisers due to 38mm HE pen. -
Is Arizona worth it if I already have Oklahoma??

If you're into ship collecting, yes. Otherwise I wouldn't spend doubloons or money on her. -
Ship that dropped from a supercontainer that suprised you.

Munchen. High speed long range fast reloading CL is surprisingly fun, though ballistics leave something to be desired at long ranges. -
36 torpedo wing from Kaga be like:

Nah, next should be autostrike - when any of the squadrons go below full strength, AI controlled squadron of the same type will take off and attack nearest enemy ship
