Are we talking about regular cruisers (light or heavy variety) or Large Cruisers WG is pumping recently into game? From tankiest "regular" cruisers hightier Germans come to mind with their turtleback and on tier 9 and 10, additional extra heal. That and eternal Camrade Moskva (though she is stretching definition of a heavy cruiser), when angled she can be tough cookie. But any sort of broadside and you die faster than Minotaur. From Large Cruisers, Alaska and Stalingrad lead the way in terms of durability. Though only Moskva and Stalingrad can actually hope to shrug off AP shells larger than 429mm, as number of ships with that kind of boomstick keep increasing. Gunnery, or to be specific, AP shell penetration wise, then Stalingrad, Kronshtadt take the cake, with Azuma/Yoshino following and Alaska closing the group. Only first two you can reliably expect to punch through BB main belt though. Accuracy wise, Azuma twins have superior dispersion, Stalingrad have standard Large Cruiser dispersion IIRC but compensated by overinflated Sigma value And then there is Siegfried, German CB in pipeline, armed with 6x 380mm guns

Considering WG aims to not make things balanced, simply not fun to play for all parties involved, have you ever expected anything else?

"Accuracy", or rather hit propability stat in game is merely multiplier for mount reload, affecting final dps.

So where you draw the line of AA being "just right"? 100% shot down on first approach?

I don't really see it working as remote plane replacement. If I'm losing planes then I'm already within AA and 5-10s or whatever delay might be longer than squadron lives on. On other hand I'd like to see CV "consumable" allowing to bring off map plane reinforcements which can be intercepted en route. Maybe as replacement to TB Heal, maybe replacement to plane replenishment even depending how many players would be restored. For early spotting issue, CV could start outside of the map, lets say 8-10km away from the border with autopilot set to enter battlefield at lets say, 6min mark. Which obviously would extend CV reaction time early on. That or simply keep CV hull off map, if all surface ships die, team loses regardless of CV.

Breaking news: I've been doing that since WG fixed F key in what was it, 0.8.1? Since 0.8.5 I have odd feeling boosted return would yield less losses than manually GTFOing and then recalling. Not mentioning shorter plane return.

@MrConway regarding recent devblog article, are devs aware half, if not more casualties are returning planes instead ones with payload? Except you're down to half squadron if you lose first one. CVs with few exceptions have only half strength squadron in reserve. And after AA change, its not hard to lose planes even if you do everything right as CV. I don't see ship losing guns simply by firing them at the red ones

You know things went haywire if even excel showed "seems like in many cases the plane losses became slightly excessive, and CV efficiency was nerfed too much"

After having overall successful game in Shokek, where I've lost almost entire TB complement on attacking NC, I've rewatched replay. Out of 14 planes lost, 8 were lost on their way home, only 6 intercepted before or during attack run (multiple passes, including using heal on first run). Combined with 0.8.6 upcoming change, I guess disabling AA for returning planes is only right move

I guess Sunleader version of balans is when sum of damage done and spotting done is equal to other classes When we're at at, I want some magic mechanic so I can cap with CVs in peace

In case you haven't noticed, sole purpose of "CV thread", "MM thread" etc is to give one place for players to vent, so mods can dig for gold more often The same was said in 0.8.0 or so, "when you hear whine coming from both sides, you can assume you're in roughly balanced position" If balans was achieved on day one, why we get some BS balancing changes?

Mino have luxury of not having HE shells, thus you get free 7 points for not having to pick Demo and IFHE. So you can safely pick MAA and BFT with no penalties for surface combat whatsoever.

Zed 52 always had quite brutal mid range, spewing uncomfortable amount of flaks around and having THE highest dps. So no wonder DD pressed F to pay respects -

T8 CV in T10 game is reduced into pretty much spotting utensil, especially when enemy team refuses to unblob themselves. Attacks on singled out targets are doable, but expect casualties. A lot. Wrong. They will solely focus on molesting underage botes
