USN light cruisers starting from Dallas onward rely on "quantity over quality", they also suffer from low shell velocity, which makes long range shelling borderline futile, but also allows firing over islands with significant margin of safety, assuming someone does the spotting work. Helena alone is worth the grind, I guess you can't argue with 15gun salvo every 8s Cleveland is also very solid ship, Seattle is disappointing and IMO so is Worcester - gun layout forces you to show not small amount of broadside to make use of "overwhelming firepower" you're supposed to have. Though when fired from safety of an island, amount of shells she can put out is not to be trifled with. Major flaw of any light cruiser using HE shells is their reliance on IFHE skill - without it, they can't inflict direct damage to hulls of tier 6+ BB and tier 8+ cruisers, leaving you at mercy of fire chance once you deplete superstructure. And not always you have broadside available to put AP shells there for regular penetration damage. USN heavy cruisers AP shells have improved ricochet angles, allowing them to punch through (cruiser) armor normal shells would ricochet off harmlessly. Pensacola is glass cannon, fragile but 10gun AP salvo at tier 6, even with 15s reload can deliver a lot of hurt. Nope Orlean is slightly less extreme, Baltimore I find to be a keeper, combining decent survivability (27mm plating, 152mm citadel + its relatively low position) and 10s reload on 203mm because reasons. She is also first ship in the line to use AP SHS - SuperHeavyShells, trading shell velocity for additional penetration and damage. With Buffalo you trade reload for 12gun salvo. Des Moines combines heavy cruiser firepower with light cruiser volume of fire - 9x203mm every 4.8s (with Reload upgrade - MBM3) can bury pretty much anything with sheer weight of ordnance and unlike CL, can reliably citadel cruisers at most combat ranges as well isn't forced to take IFHE to make HE shells viable.

So... I had encounter against Midway DB in Yoshino, ship with AA you can describe at best as "mediocre" with exception of short range (261/280/583). In little panic mode due to just barely surviving BB salvo I've thrown in everything - sector (without MAA), DFAA, Cat and a sink for a good measure. Out of 12 planes only two managed to drop ordnance, with two bombs on target simply because I've found D key on keyboard, even with this glacier of a bote. 10 AA kills and 2 Cat kills. Which brings the question, is the balans we're striving for, if not an "AA ship" without AA specialization can become next to immune due to finding few keys on a keyboard

Did I just pay 30 bucks for this camo... [ NEW SOLUTION ]

You could get preview of the camo, assuming you have ship in question... -
The "Duke of York for the Ranked Sprint" Bundle
Panocek replied to Munchboii's topic in General Discussion
DoY is okay, trades some rudder shift, one heal charge and 4.5s reload time for I think THE best T7 AA in game, Hydro and American Piercing. With KGV you can safely use HE against everything and get meaty damage results, AP on DoY gives more potential, but it can backfire at you as her guns have next to no overmatch potential. That and accuracy on both leaves something to be desired, making HE slinging safer option as only thing you need to do is to connect shell with the ship. Should UK BB citadel change go to live, DoY will get relative buff as she will receive that one missing heal charge. Conq AP is nothing to sneeze at, so should you level up enough to find "2" key on a keyboard, its worth giving APqueror a shot. -
First, "devs" reside on RU forums and RU community is their target audience, otherwise you wouldn't have complete RU navy with premium at every tier When WG mentioned removal of Musashi and Kronshtadt with "they've become too popular", it caused some confusion as EU stats were fine. Battles played were on higher end, but that is kinda expected for a premium, to be used to grind credits and captain exp. Then I've poked into RU stats, and there Musashi had about the twice battles played in time period as next most popular BB, Kron was high as well. I'll try to dig out that post, but it was like year ago? EDIT found it Kron was 2nd highest, after Donskoi, but Musashi had almost 4 times played than next ship actual link, as older data goes to archive http://maplesyrup.sweet.coocan.jp/wows/ranking/pastrecords/20181215/ru_week/average_ship.html

@CptMinia Pretty much all aspects of the REEEwork were already beaten to death and then some more in this topic, so besides WG game updates or finds like staring at the sky crashes game there is little, if anything to be added. Besides, sole purpose of pinned topic like this is not to gather feedback, its simply to players have single spot to vent their frustrations and (hopefully) reduce load on moderation team.

cv rework CV Rework - Oficjalny temat do zbiórki opinii
Panocek replied to WG_Lumberjack's topic in Rozgrywka
Problem: "fidbak" pochodzi z EU, a ten profilaktycznie jest kierowany do niszczarki. Choć zamiast "zaznaczania" rodem z RTSu jest sektor i w sumie można jego wykorzystać. -
You mean co-op?

I have odd feeling ricochet-after-penetrating-torpedo-belt uses the same icon
-
Narai with tier 10 ships that might be extra hectic. Or tier 4 for that matter...
-
But hey, Raptor Rescue will/should be brought back with 0.8.6, so PvE crabs crowd should be happy for a year or so... Variable tiers and shift from weekly rotation to daily could be easy, quick and dirty fix for existing Ops until WG gets AI carriers operational. So they can mine salt themselves too

https://gamemodels3d.com/, though for T8+ content you need to insert coin to continue. https://wowsft.com, though there were some issues with data accuracy, especially regarding ballistic data https://mustanghx.github.io/ship_ap_calculator/, supposedly accurate(r) ballistic data. Obviously no confirmation on WG part so

Only question left, why WG added "torpedo protection hit" for bombs... its not like battleships have torpedo belt on deck or somesuch, while the same icon could be used to show AP bomb failing to penetrate armored deck.
-
And then there are stuff you can't get from port or even 3rd party websites

If you mean landing ANY hit on DD/cruiser, then yea, it is plausible. If you actually want to land more than one bomb, you need to pray to RNGesus. HARD. And you can check ship stats for ships you don't own the same way, as long you can visit it via tech tree. For normally invisible ships you need Tech Tree Extender mod or similar

Tankiest.. Meatiest.. Most BB-like... Cruiser?
Panocek replied to Myrmidon19's question in Q&A Section
Are two topics really necessary? -
Using dive bombers to carpet bomb ship with small bomblets. Historical accuracy/10. Historically "crossing the T" was viable tactic. Try doing it in game You can check yourself from port... And its 32mm HE pen on tier 6-8 and 40mm on T10. And again, how big it area you're carpeting compared to superstructure? That is why I've highlighted Richelieu as "preferable" target due to lack of any deck reinforcement.
-
Well, captain is/should be retrained for Harugumo, T10 IJN DD in alternate "gunboat" branch.
-
Desync between ship model and actual hitbox location is a bug that comes back occasionally from beta times even, with no apparent cause. I don't recall it happening recently, but overall I've seen plenty of cases where my shots went through ship with no effect whatsoever as well seen salvo that should nuke my ship, and yet all that happened was water splash... where you would expect citadel to be
-
HE bomb pen THE squishiest T4 BB Dunno about Hermes, but T6 onwards UK carrier bombers are balanced around principle "what you can reliably hit, you usually can't pen. What you can pen, you can't reliably hit". Unless your definition of good hit rate is 2 out of 16 bombs for 3k damage total. Implant for example: against Kremlin, I think the biggest BB in game More realistic, and almost preferred target and result 10/16 bombs on target, 8 penetrated for whooping 11.7k dmg. Value US DB regularly surpass and have much more targets to choose from with increased HE pen and better dispersion
-
Considering WG is quite reliable at ignoring user feedback I'd say its the latter. And no wonder, because when they do listen, playerbase usually shoot themselves in the foot with the result, as CV RTS strafing and CV REEEwork are "community driven ideas"
-
Funny because islands works just fine on my end And I've said can fire, not it will be effective unless AP to the broadside. And considering mediocre Wooster firing arcs, broadside is something you will see quite often. Still better than nothing. And of torp connect, hole in cruiser will be rather substantial. So we're talking about RU DD vs Wooster or RU DD vs team with Wooster? And you underestimate how good RU 130mm ballistics have, with them being close to your typical 203mm. That and Kebab experience is literally to be that little pissing everyone off, so everyone waste their time at you instead green ones, so no, you haven't discovered America there.

REEEwork being broken by design is something acknowledged like... half year ago? And especially now, you don't need balls-to-the-wall AA build to have effective AA, at least as much as "first strike goes through" allows. Minotaur is prime example, as for "surface combat" all you need is AR, SI and CE. That leaves 9 points to be spent on whatever you want.
