This. Playing "for the objective", be it spotting, "tanking", base capture have next to no economy rewards. Simply because WG don't think their average customer can be arsed with such trivial things like team play compared to making boomy noises every 30 seconds. And they are not wrong with that assessment, unfortunately.
-
There is nothing of them now, as WG sets torpedo detection to give +-8s reaction time, so with that kind of speeds I'd expect 2km+ detection. And then there is embarrassingly low damage combined with not that short reload... But they have quick reload on guns? Well, yes, but also they have 4 guns total, so in terms of shell output UK or US destroyers compete, if not straight up win with them. While having concealment and smoke advantage
-
And even then most existing gunboats will make them a run for their money. Issue is, what Ikea DDs can do (besides short range and short duration radar), Brits can do just as well AND have multiple smokes as getaway.
-
Khaba would make for a fine midtier cruiser, but was shoehorned into DD. Same with [insert large cruiser] being considered as mere cruiser by the game ORP Gryf was a minelayer... yet will arrive as cruiser in this... european line.
-
Well, Aliexpress line still consists of destroyers only. And by your description, Tre Kronor would make for interesting hightier DD or otherwise Freemium ship.
-
Tanatoy, no point of bashing you personally, but dev team... can I get sample of their "medicine"? It surely must be of the highest quality to be able to come up with that Also: "waiter, there is European in my Swedish DD line"

Proof of Concept Test - Cruiser plating and Inertia Fuse High Explosive (IFHE) for Tiers VIII-X, second stage of the test.
Panocek replied to Tanatoy's topic in Development Blog
Expanding on idea, not because I hope it will go anywhere but I'm bored -hull, bow and stern EXCEPT armored bits plating reduced to 13mm for ships of tier 5-10 (tier 1-4 would have 10mm), making it vulnerable to all HE and AP, while CA can overmatch said plating -ship section hp is adjusted the way ship CANNOT be sunk by HE blasting or AP pens on bow/stern/upper hull/superstructure alone (lets say, leave ship at 25% hp with all sections saturated), torpedo hits, citadel hits, fires or flooding are needed to finish ship off. Ship with saturated section suffer penalties (saturated bow - top speed reduction, saturated aft - rudder can turn up to 1/2, saturated superstructure - main gun dispersion penalty, saturated upper hull - armament reload penalty), fully saturated ship is considered "mission kill" and is counted as "dead" even if afloat, unless it can recover with heals. But as long as its afloat, it stays under player control -AP fuse sensitivity is set to 1/10 caliber for guns up to and including 155mm, to keep DD and CL AP relevant, larger guns stay at old 1/6 as counterweight for overmatch -HE pen stays as it is (1/6 caliber), ships with 1/4 rule gets German HE treatment (looking at you, brit BBs) -global HE damage nerf (by +-30%?), underwater AP hits have chance of scoring "minor flooding", dealing flood damage for half of the duration -battleships and large cruisers with "all or nothing" armor scheme - entire armored box is considered citadel (just like old Iowa/Montana as well like 99% of current cruisers) Not quite sure wat do with IFHE skill. Had idea of turning HE into SAP with following parameters (0% fire chance, +100% damage increase, +50% penetration increase, ricochet angles 65-75 degrees), but then DD AP with 1/10 fuse sensitivity would work just like SAP, with light cruisers being close (shell arming at 15mm effective armor, when everyone have 13mm). Heavy cruisers would get 50mm pen, but then ricochet angles would render SAP useless against decks and such SAP would have less damage than AP, making it a moot point anyway. So, simple +50% damage increase on HE shells but with -50% fire chance? Final result would be: -every ship can cause direct chip damage with HE to every ship UNLESS it lands on reinforced plating (muh russian/german bias) -DD and CL caliber AP would have potential to be very effective when used against broadside on unarmored sections but would struggle against angled and/or armored all around targets -CA can overmatch bow/stern/upper hull (unless armored) of all ships and inflict regular pen damage that way, making AP also effective against DDs when timed correctly -exposed BB citadels would make them (finally) vulnerable to other battleships and heavy cruisers in "yolo" range. -

Not quite shipgrill oriented, but amount of "what" seems to be correct And in 8th AL episode -

This is part where WG devteam suffer bluescreen. Or Mogami will get uparmored when you swap the guns Bayard is (premium) testbed of new concept, so players who bought her can participate in beta tests... except they don't know about that. Mainz is merely in line with other German cruisers. And if WG decided to release "premium testbed" and that was back in what, June? means they are rather cemented in their vision of HE rework and no amount of REEE will change that. I think I've heard this before "everyone calls our design but we are going in anyway"... but where There is a good reason why I haven't spend anything on this game for a year by now - you never know when WG will pull out "global change" card to fiddle with your premiums "we don't nerf" "Hey, your premium Kektuzov got buffed with 1/5HE, its IFHE that get nerfed" There will be no statistical evidence of other classes needing a buff, when there are no statistic data of other classes -
(IFHE) for Tiers VIII-X. Second stage of the test

Exactly. You can't have fun lowtier ships. Did I mention what can of worms WG opened by making captain respec "opt-in", hidden well into few pages long patch notes when they changed Manual AA into Massive AA? This is the story of current CLs. Post rework, tier 7 and below CL won't be able to damage 32mm plating at all while having halved fire chance, leaving them completely helpless against battleships when uptiered. Meanwhile all tier 6-7 BBs will get 26mm plating, making IFHE mandatory for CL guns. So much for "HE can damage plating equal to penetration value" Essentially, this is nerf for everyone. Everyone, except battleships of glorious and lidl variety -
One purpose of one-man-clan would be for recruiters to fluff off. I don't recall day without "we klanu, we stronk, join us" message, while clan invitation spam happens every three battles or so

Implacable - are the stock torpedo bombers better?
Panocek replied to Blixies's topic in General Discussion
Not quite infinite, but you can traverse map at next to max speed and still have good chunk of boost for attack run. Try it yourself in Training Room. -
How post drop immunity helps you when you get flakk'd on your final approach? Or REEEwork have another marvel of clarity and understandability for common folk
-
Guess what, WG tried just that. And if WG backed down from that, it meant it was EXTRA broken

What was fixed was mashing boost key. Repeated +-1s tapping with 1-2s break is "working as intended". Even more so with Brit planes, as they deacelerate slower than US/IJN ones. -
While ship you're about to touch in inappropriate places may not spawn flak, other ships >4km can. And it can be quite a nuisance when you get flakk'd on your final approach.

Years of... interacting with your company, be it at land, mid air or at the seas taught me one: only "feedback" that can go anywhere is coordinated REEE coming from all sides - RU, NA, EU, REEEddit and what else. its been over 8 years... time flies Given most recent BB addition, you could argue IFHE is counterproductive, nerfing your fire chance as you can't score HE pens on them anyway. -

Henri gets nothing, as she already has 30mm plating. Only DM and Salem actually gets something from whole shenaniganery As proof of concept, you could go other way: -hull, bow and stern EXCEPT armored bits plating reduced to lets say 10mm, making it vulnerable to all HE and AP -ship section hp is adjusted the way ship CANNOT be sunk by HE blasting or AP pens on bow/stern/upper hull/superstructure alone (lets say, leave ship at 25% hp with all sections saturated), torpedo hits, citadel hits, fires or flooding are needed to finish ship off. Ship on receiving end of HE blasting could suffer penalties, based on damaged sections (saturated bow = reduced top speed, saturated aft = slower rudder shift, saturated superstructure = range/dispersion penalty). Adrenaline Rush could be reworked to reduce negative effects instead giving reload buff, because frankly, its kinda OP in terms of gains for 2 mere points. -global HE damage nerf (?), underwater AP hits have chance of scoring "minor flooding" to not make UK CL completely helpless -IFHE skill replaces HE on the ship with SAP (its kinda obvious Pasta cruisers are testbed for that kind of IFHE rework), increasing shell damage but removing fire and adding risk of ricochet. And when you're at it, you could do testing on live server. You had no qualms of doing do with the REEEwork, so alongside April Fools and Halloween you could add another yearly 'game breaking" tradition -

Whole change is confusing, while is irrelevant, as there is no shortage of battleships with overmatch capability, while increased thickness reduces chances of overpen So yea, just like giving 19mm plating to hightier destroyers its a "buff" quickly turning into a nerf. After all, whole "BB AP pen" issue started to be a thing after destroyers got 19mm+ plating. As long damage mechanics will be binary in action (pen, no-pen), IFHE will remain mandatory if it allows reaching important armor thresholds. -
If anything it makes everything confusing
-
Both are excellent in Narai and both are powercrept in randoms. Low accuracy BB with guns not having penetration nor overmatch can be... trying at times, even more so when compared to Lyon (having similar small caliber and questionable accuracy, but getting things done by sheer weight of broadside) and Sinop, which in turn renders most T7 battleships obsolete anyway. Atlanta needs dedicated captain and highly leveled at 18 points at that to get the most out of her, while Helena performs the same "HE spam from island safety" task better and being less captain skill intensive as well being less glass when fired upon. From "good" ships within your price range I can recommend Cossack, UK tier 8 DD and Haida, Commonwealth tier 7 DD. Very powerful ships, especially when playing for the objective and contesting caps as they outspot and outgun most destroyers. They suffer from usual ailments caused by CV REEEwork tho.
