Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Panocek replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Possibility for 3rd AL collab, given just recent Russian event there featuring youngest of Naval Legends, Sov. Rossija. Or just generic copy/paste ship to be sold as replacement for soon to be removed JB -
Value after applying IFHE isn't rounded, otherwise 30*1.25=37.5 would be rounded up to 38. Which isn't the case
-
Unless I'm missing something, Smolensk sailing angled at 60 degrees ie just enough to use all 4 turrets can ricochet non improved AP shells, while upper hull have 32mm effective thickness. To put into perspective, 305mm AP needs 51mm to arm, 406mm - 68mm, 460mm - 76mm.
-
You get 19mm pen by default, only non Khaba DD that would pose an issue is Gearing with 21mm central part. Which in turn will be penned by all 127-128 guns. With IFHE you get 23mm pen, so only relevant threshold being 21mm on Gearing and UK carriers mostly. If you can make sure all you see are tier 6-7 all or nothing armored BBs as well non IJN cruisers, then I suppose IFHE makes sense on midtier DDs. The moment wild Bayern, Fuso or T8 cruiser appears, you might want to not have IFHE for better firestarting.
-
Math is your friend. Gun caliber divided by 6 (4 in case of German cruisers, german secondaries, 5 in case of T8+ CL with 152-155 guns), rounded to nearest integer. Then multiply by 1.25, compare achieved number to plating you will see in battles. This value is not subject to rounding, as T8+ CLs shows - 30*1.25=37.5. If this value would be rounded (up) then we would get 38mm HE pen. BFT also improves fires per minutes by virtue of throwing more shiet at the wall. Obviously, if you have no better skills to choose from, then BFT and Demo are a go
-
Thing is, DD guns with exception of IJN 100mm gets practically nothing from IFHE. 127mm guns go up to 26mm, so all you can hope for is to damage bow/stern of T10 cruisers. 27mm and thicker are out the questions. 130/139 are in slightly better position as they can pen 27mm Demo doesn't help once fires are lit, while BFT also improves AP damage output. Bonus points for 10% more tracers sent into the sky
-
Given DE gives 1% effective fire chance when sprinkling tier 10 ships, I wouldn't nerdgasm too hard over that skill to begin with.
-
Thing is, IFHE remains mandatory anyway, only case where you don't want IFHE is tier 6-7 CL vs T8+ BB. So whole "IFHE as option" is moot point. Plating changes are irrelevant in 75% cases, as there is no shortage of overmatching BB guns on "new" platings while those, who enjoy taking Richelieu, Bismarck or Roma for a spin gets punished for daring to play battleships with underage guns And then you have balancing and logic marvel of 32mm on Gneisenau/Kurfurst secondaries, more than CL main guns. While "german secondaries stronk gimmick" is understandable, its kinda baffling when you compare that to 152-180 guns.
-
WG expertise at breaking fixing what ain't broken is remarkable indeed.
-
38mm on T8+ CL is incorrect, also botched fire chance calculation on wowsft (halves DE bonus) Imagine the outcry on RU servers when they notice 180mm isn't better than 152mm where is bussian rias when you need one
-
I'm at a loss as well. Mogami definitely keeps IFHE, as with it she gets 38mm HE pen and base fire chance was meh to begin with, so little loss there On other T8+ CLs as well on Akizuki knockoffs I might skip IFHE, as most common BBs are outside of HE pen anyway, while 30mm base HE pen dismantles cruisers T6-7 CLs might get IFHE to help against cruisers when uptiered... but then, I rarely play those and even if, its mostly in Operations. Daring lost IFHE, but reload nerf kinda counteracts benefit from added BFT - with reload mod and BFT she reloads in 2.1s instead 2.0s pre 0.9.2. Darling unplayable fix it Henri IV... while retains 50mm HE pen, De Grasse doesn't benefit as much as from IFHE and fire chance loss is massive.
-
Wowsft is wrong this time. In game, Cleveland with DE and IFHE have 8% fire chance (12*0.5+2), penetration ends at 37mm. Tier 7 and below CLs caps at 31mm with IFHE IJN 100mm have 30mm base pen, same as 152mm CL. With IFHE it goes up to 37mm, so Alaska and NC decks
-
Thank god other classes can't devstrike each other... oh wait.
-
Then there is case how wrong WoWsft is, as its already updated with 0.9.2 changes and states 32mm HE pen for tier 6-7 152+IFHE as well 38mm HE pen for T8+ 152mm+IFHE Helena https://wowsft.com/ship?index=PASC207&modules=1221&upgrades=000000&commander=PCW001&skills=71335937&consumables=1111 Cleve https://wowsft.com/ship?index=PASC208&modules=1111&upgrades=000000&commander=PCW001&skills=71335937&consumables=1111

Interesting... they (accidentally ?) omitted the Russian/Soviet 130 mm guns from tables regarding the upcoming IFHE changes!
Panocek replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Secondary oriented ones are affected - Massachusetts for example won't be able to damage same or higher tier cruisers even with IFHE, tier 8-9 German BBs need IFHE to do harm with 105, only GK/Gneisenau are winners here due to 32mm pen by default. You would need dedicated IFHE captains and means to make sure you don't see ships you can't damage. -
Sounds like pasta fueled cruisers. Not fun to play with and not fun to play against
-
Wargaming was testing IFHE rework with release of premium Bayard get live server data and get paid for it, you can't get better than that. TL;DR of this chance is: ships that needed IFHE still needs it, tier 6 and 7 CLs get extra shafted because you can't have too much fun at these tiers, even if you paid for it *cough* Belfast *cough* Boise. Non German DD caliber secondaries are reduced to firestarting and DD molesting only Only positive change would be 19mm pen on Jutland and Daring while German 12.8 secondaries pen 32mm by default. WG wouldn't have to come up with free respecs if St. Petersburg wouldn't come with stupid captain skill changes to begin with
-
Pick one Well, he gets salty in quite regular intervals WG still can dig out two payloads per plane, you have option to switch armament in Controls for close to a year by now. Nothing stops them from introducing strike aircrafts with rockets + bomb or rockets + torpedo. Roosevelt could turn that way should initial gimmick prove broken one way or another I suppose.

WG first rounds, then applies IFHE bonus. So 152/6=25.333, rounded down to 25. *1.25 and you get 31.25 155/5 on other hand is equal to 31mm, which then goes to 38.75 with IFHE 152/5=30.4, rounded down to 30, 37.5 with IFHE 113mm rounds up to 19mm, and as HE pen no longer have to be higher, Daring/Jutland can remove IFHE and still inflict hurt to DD hulls and BB superstructures. -

No, WG just doesn't want you to have fun in tier 6 and 7 CLs, its kinda hard to sell premium accounts and paints for those tiers. IFHE still will be needed on those tiers to damage same tier BBs as well higher tiered cruisers. -

Tier 6 and 7 CLs get extra shafted, as not only they lose on fire chance, but even with IFHE they will be unable to damage 32mm plating. -

Still makes. If anything, it highlights Mogami as THE hightier CL, as she can get 31*1.25=38.75mm, thus she will be able to pen USN BB decks. Changes I'm afraid yeet out the window Z-23 with IFHE, as she will lose 32mm pen. Only redeeming feature of that obsolete destroyer. -
PSA free respec (but you need to activate it)
Panocek replied to Verblonde's topic in General Discussion
Actual fire chance is halved when sprinkling T10 with HE. So 3% vs 7% Both looks to me -
Only way for that to happen is to have AA disabled, grossly mismanaging sector or playing something like Somers, ship with hilariously bad dps and with tiny range. TB squad to carry out three attack runs, getting 100% payload sent towards target will spend so much time even average AA dps will knock off two or three planes, reducing squadron to two attack wings
