Incapacitations - WG what did you do???
Panocek replied to Humorpalanta's topic in General Discussion
Single DD caliber HE hit is enough to knock engine/rudder out, even on intact destroyer. Or any other ship tbh, as amount of "single hit kill" rudders on IJN/MN cruisers is also quite common. So, basically modules have like 1hp and only RNG decides whether module take damage (saving throw). That and how much distance is between module and HE shell to mitigate AoE, which totally doesn't favor certain thicc class everyone loves to sail off to new world.- 26 replies

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"

Well, there is/was Lenin clone "for collaborations" announced some time ago, so that would be one battlebarge -
What's the difference between both Russian destroyer lines?
Panocek replied to Purnylla's topic in General Discussion
"Main" line of Kiev-Tashkent-Khabarovsk are artillery oriented with emphasis on high speed and long range, but unlike French, they can equip smoke or heal. That said, Khabarovsk was repeatedly nerfed HARD in the past, thus she is stuck with 13.5km at best and battlecruiser grade rudder shift. For all intents and purposes, she is a downgrade over tier 9, which in turn was repeatedly buffed over the years. Khabarovsk also is stuck with 6km torps, which are purely yolo weapon on a ship forced to run double rudder built, thus concealment is closer to 10km Ognevoi-Udaloi-Grozovoi is all over the place. Ognevoi is torpedoboat, or rather is pressed into role of one due to only 4 barrels worth of broadside with not that fast reload. Udaloi is spiritual sister to Tashkent, as in open water long range gunboat that can equip smoke AND heal. She is slower but have noticeably better turn radius, so WSAD hax is still strong within her. Grozovoi was supposed to be "gun oriented hybrid"... in practice, you end up with just average ship across the board. At least, she is better than Khabarovsk at "long range gunnery" simply by virtue of having almost 15km range while having functional concealment and 10km fishes when you actually need to play for the objective without attracting all the attention. -
I'd say you will appreciate NC more after playing Iowa and Montana, because she isn't far off in terms of firepower, AA or protection while she can actually turn, compared to latter two.

AFAIK when module takes damage, it gets incapacitated as indication of dice rolling "damage" instead "save"- 26 replies

It is rare to get that high spotting value, because most players be like "I'm spotted anyway to lets fire them guns", therefore you don't get spotting damage accounted to you, as by firing their own guns they are probably spotted by other players as well.
-
Just like with normal damage, actual number is meaningless, what matters is to who said damage is done. You can spend half the game farming BBs, inflating damage numbers, but it doesn't guarantee victory.

Are These VE Day Combat Missions For Perma-camo's?
Panocek replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
Those perma camos offered doesn't look like generic texture plastered over ship model, akin to expendable camos. So for that "quality" WG would have to create new texture from scratch for all ships, should VE camo work akin to Christmas one, which you could apply to ship of your choosing. Granted, that camo added christmas lights to your ship and then smeared some blue-ish paint, but still, it was work I don't think could be automated with adequate quality. -
Are These VE Day Combat Missions For Perma-camo's?
Panocek replied to Sir_Sinksalot's topic in General Discussion
Perma camos are mostly for premiums and then two out of three silver ships had separate perma camos available during earlier mission marathons. So, in terms of "getting value" that leaves Minsk, assuming you have perma camos for NO and Implacable. -
Incapacitations - WG what did you do???
Panocek replied to Humorpalanta's topic in General Discussion
Compartmentalization idea isn't bad, but it would mean rebalancing game from ground up basically. And that time, according to spreadshiet, would be better spent on adding more premiums Also, RNG based saving throw is still needed, otherwise you'd end up with War Thunder, where people just keep sniping ammo magazines on each other. Or DD would be completely crippled after two salvos from Smolensk or other high volume HE thrower, as turrets and torp tubes are completely unprotected and rely on own hp and RNGesus blessing to exist.- 26 replies

Given no shortage of 30mm overmatch capable guns, anything bigger only increases effective thickness needed to arm the fuse. Shittyshima, even after going back to 1/6 fuse still needs 85mm effective armor?
-
Smolensk can't damage 50mm plating from almost any angle, regardless of amount of bias you believe into. "more torps" but rather short ranged ones and almost certainly used in yolo situations. And if you get that close in Smolensk, it mostly mean someone, somewhere, fluffed up spectacularly to begin with. "better AA" - longer ranged, yes. But for actual DPS, Venezia almost doubles that of a Smolensk "longer smoke" - yes, but doesn't immediately hide you unlike pepperoni smoke Venezia have one of the tighter turning radius among T10 cruisers... quite a feat, given she is about as long as Moskva, who have "only" 300m longer turning radius on top of concealment 404 not found. If Venezia would be truly balanced, her popularity in CB would be in line with other cruisers instead "Veneziagrad squad"

New shipclass idea.... Auxiliary Ships
Panocek replied to Yosha_AtaIante's topic in General Discussion
I don't kinda see how you would balance economy for them. Amount of hp restored? Easily abusable by parking all the baBBies around and let them be farmed. Fixed exp/credit gains? Botter wet dreams. Are they unarmed or have two or three guns to pew pew with (akin to repair ship in Narai). Are we going with "realistic" speed of 15kts tops for most such vessels or going "balans" route. If so, when we will end with healing motorboat outrunning destroyers? How would actual gameplay look like? Sail around and enjoy redyoutube? Some "reparing" minigame to keep fun and engaging? Welding simulator? Designating tools/supplies to damaged ship sections? And then you have slowness of the game itself. Its no LoL to "oh " extract yourself or let healer be just behind you and patch you as stuff happens and both GTFO when push happens. Idea of support ships isn't bad, just brings so many issues to a game centered around Randoms and Naval gameplay. And thats before "Wargaming" part. PvP Operation, lets say subs vs DDs and AI convoy is something I'd dig though. -

More like Arms Race buff that you can (accidentally) outrun. -
New shipclass idea.... Auxiliary Ships
Panocek replied to Yosha_AtaIante's topic in General Discussion
Now imagine carrying your (random) team with spanner instead guns, bombs and torps. That would have to be one bigass spanner. Even looking at other, supposedly "teamwork" games with "healer" kind of character, even those carry at least some offensive capacity. -
New shipclass idea.... Auxiliary Ships
Panocek replied to Yosha_AtaIante's topic in General Discussion
That would require actually fixing AI pathing, if they would be supposed to move around. Also it would mean your average potato team would autohug such repair ship, and its already difficult to get them going towards caps. Shore bases to be captured? You mean Bastions of old, which had so balans gunnery they kept stealing MVPs from both sides? -
Even russian bias has to obey ricochet rules.

I would need a little favor from someone who has a PTS client installed and is no computer illiterate
Panocek replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in Off-Topic
That would lead to... very interesting results. From not rendering changed/added stuff to outright crashing. That said, WG once managed to push server update like 3h before releasing patch... It resulted with people getting stuck on nothing, shells exploding mid air or ships passing through islands, as with that patch WG changed one of the maps -
So freeloaders who got previous event camos don't get anything new for free. That would be my guess.

Tbh french cruisers until Charles Martel are more of a meme with their Engine Boost, as La Gasoline or Algerie with Boost active temporarily achieves normal speeds of IJN or Russian cruisers. Martel on other hand is IMO peak of French cruiser line - while her base speed is still eh 32.5kts, with improved engine boost and speed Signal she can crank up her speed up to 40kts. Also, she have concealment decent enough to make double Rudder Shift build viable. 24kts on Nelson/Nagato/Queen Elizabeth can be annoying... and then you have US standard battleships, trucking at 20kts all the way until North Carolina Well, from T7 BBs only Colorado have "better than 20%" torpedo belt... so yea, get familiar with turning that fat hull

With hightier cruisers whom turning radius can be measured in kilometers for short, I've found Propulsion Mod to work best and focus on WS part of WSAD hax. You can combine both for maximum memes though

Unfortunately, there are very few players considerate enough to "not spoil fun of others at hightiers", thus hightier gameplay is reaching new and exciting depths, long thought to be unreachable in terms of player quality, as WG focusing all their efforts on T9+ content simply to maximize gains. Such focus on hightiers also makes mid tiers... considerably not fun with constant uptiering on top of already existing issues (26mm plating on T6-7 BBs against 380+ guns, artificial penetration limit on IFHE, rendering T7 CLs very unfun when uptiered, concealment gap between T7 and T8 destroyers) From economy standpoint, there is no point of going after Nelson, as T9 Freemiums will net you much more credits on top of being much more pleasant ships to play, more often than not being able to go toe to toe with tier 10s Also, with concept of Elite Exp there no longer need for dedicated "trainers" - just put 19lv captain on ship you like to play and any exp gained with him, can be used to train and retrain new captains of all nations. So, from efficiency standpoint, buying one (hightier, preferably T9 due to better camouflage bonuses) premium to grind your soul out is better than fleet of midtiers of various nations.
