[Asia Forum] Aircraft Carrier's Rocket aiming reticle comparison (0.9.6 / 0.9.7 PTS)

Lexi throws 6 TiTs too, so its hardly an "useful" trait of the ship. And then as I remember, Lexi HVARs aren't absolute wheelchair to use, unlike Midways -

And then word "serviceable" doesn't mean "top of the line", its closer to "not quite useless". And PR ship at dev 5 is about that. -

Its not like you can't just play and pick up PR ships as you go How about actually paying attention to what you get instead some arbitrary stars? -

Any PR ship is at least 6 months endeavor in terms of collecting blueprints, and that assumes participating in events to get universal blueprints and (multiple) daily logins to get going with research. Decisive ones (FdG, Azuma, Drake) are by the looks of it, 1y+ material, given I have Azuma for about 7 months by now and she is less than halfway in terms of blueprints That said, most PR ships become "serviceable" at devlvl 5, as most of them get MGM+1. -
German ship -> ez money from german fanboys

Massive AA skill removes ramping up dps bonus for "reinforced" side but in return improves initial damage "ping". Still this skill is nigh useless on any ship, let alone on ships with actual dps values... so yes, by picking this skill in hightier ship with decent anti air, you're actually gimping your own vessel.

Depends where you lack good ships to be honest. While Monarch is excellent barrage spammer, Hood/Amagi still can hold the line. While Seattle basically replaces Clevelands/Chapayev, they are still good ships. And then you have Helena retro, which is quite an AA monster on her own in context of w13. w12 you can clear with pretty much anything as long they aren't excessively underage Actually, PR ships that are in regular use of mine are Monarch, Roon, Seattle, Azuma and FdG. Rest is basically forgotten or saw very little action. Keep in mind getting exp for PR is easy. Getting blueprints in quantity to make them usable in another matter -
For BB main transitioning to cruiser
Panocek replied to Admiral_Oily_Discharge's topic in General Discussion
Wiki one is tad outdated, as still uses 25mm plating on midtier BBs, as since IFHE change they have 26mm precisely to prevent CL HE pens without IFHE That is the best approach, you can get rough idea by fiddling with wowsft artillery chart though https://wowsft.com/arty Its unofficial datamined info, so WG won't comment on this. Thus no confirmation whether its actually accurate, but so far, its close enough in my book -
For BB main transitioning to cruiser

Like 90% of the cruisers in game use 100mm as citadel plating. You can expect to penetrate such plating with good consistency using: small caliber DD guns (100-113mm) only at point blank, that is <3km DD (127-130mm) guns up to 5km CL (152-155mm) and hightier FR DD guns up to 10km CA (180-203mm) up to 15km high performance 203mm (Zao, hightier Italian) and bigger calibers: at any range. -
Random CV suggestion no. whateveratthispoint: dive bombers global changes: -all dive bombers (including UK "dive" bombers) reuse German dive bombers animation (flying very high and straight up dive, instead climb and then dive), and then "German dive bombers animation" is bit extended, to make plane climbing after take off and after dive slightly less ridiculous -bomb flight time adjusted to 3-4 seconds, giving target time to actually take evasive maneuvers. Bomb flight time could be partially reduced by dropping bombs just before exiting dive -AP bombs replaced with HE bombs IJN dive bombers -AP bombs replaced with HE bombs, weaker and less numerous than USN counterpart but more accurate (for example, Kaga vs Lexington) UK "dive" bombers -bomb accuracy improved, in line with US dive bombers, but amount of bombs limited to 4 per plane Enterprise Dive bombers bomb load changed to 1x2000lb and 2x500lb HE bombs (2000lb: 12900dmg, 69mm HE pen; 500lb: 5500dmg 39mm HE pen) totally not a nod towards Azur Lane Indomitable Dive bombers bomb load changed to 1x1000lb and 4x500lb HE bombs (1000lb: 9000dmg, 51mm HE pen; 500lb: 4700dmg 32mm HE pen)

I think WG realized how crippling to average potato is to face DD with 1.25km aerial detection, thus went with rocket pattern to give impression "we're changing something without actually affecting the thing". -
Exactly. Z52 is in this perfect state of being shitty, but not shitty enough to warrant buffs, while 6km hydro sounds tempting enough to bait players into the ship. Tbh, Z-52 is case of "not fun to play with" than being outright bad. HE damage per shell is only 100 lower than on other non IJN destroyers, while AP is +-250 more on penetration. Torps lack oomph, but reload fast, are fast and actually stealthy for their speed. 6.1km concealment you can almost equalize with 6km 2min hydro, and unlike other radar able DDs, you still carry smoke. Extraordinarily crappy one, but smoke nonetheless. AA in terms of raw numbers is on higher end among all T10 DDs, beaten only by Halal and DFAA active Gearing/Grozovoi

For BB main transitioning to cruiser
Panocek replied to Admiral_Oily_Discharge's topic in General Discussion
There aren't really "noob friendly" cruiser lines akin to "noob friendly" german BBs. All cruisers can be punished for their mistakes. And at times it feels like bringing cruiser to battle was a mistake in first place Closest to that would be line with good range, so, in worst case scenario, you can just keep your guns busy should enemy team preemptively scurry to A1 corner. That leaves German, Russian and French cruiser lines. IJN cruiser line is still "vanilla" one, giving lesson in all the bases - positioning, playing around concealment, islands and torps, ammo switching for maximum effect, evading shots because armor sure won't hold. But their "standard" range can prove inadequate at times, especially when facing rather open hightier maps. -
How about acoustic homing torps, something Germoney actually tinkered with? Torpedo would start homing towards nearest source of noise within, lets say, 3km, so you still need to launch them towards enemy. Can be countered by reducing speed to 1/4, where torps lose tracking. In return such torpedo would have detection equal to acoustic tracking distance, so 3km in this case, giving room for maneuvers.

Will be doing just daily build. Not interested in SSV, even if she might have some mechanics to her. And then wild Howe appears smug Cheese get -

Managed to get Suzuya in first 4 ship construction, which makes horny squad complete. And I believe @El2aZeR can answer one question -
Then do full AA spec on all your ships. But don't come complaining "I've got AA spec and where are carriers" or "stop setting me on fire all the time I don't have tank build"
-
Don't worry comrade, WG can make disappointed even if you have no expectations.
-
If you mean if airborne torpedoes can "skip" over islands, then no. Reticle showing expected torpedo path must be over water, otherwise torpedo will get destroyed on land and nothing happens.
-
Demo is questionable skill as well, because 2% fire chance buff is 1% when interacting with tier 10 ships, which have 50% fire chance resistance. 1% extra fire chance for three points, you be the judge if its worth. On other hand, what else you can pick? Survivability Expert?
-
Thats why I've suggested spotter plane only, without applying range mod on top
-
Define "brawler". Good secondaries? Then Tirpitz, because Massachusetts falls flat against anything bigger than DD due to low HE pen on her secondaries. Torps? Tirpitz or Kii. Good armor? No BB can withstand up close BB grade guns to the broadside, while all BBs can ricochet BB grade guns as long it doesn't come from Yamato class. For citadel protection, Tirpitz turtleback makes extraordinarily difficult to blap her at shorter distances, Massa underwater citadel is also not easy to reach. Tirpitz suffers greatly from AP bombs, Massa slightly less so.
-
AFT doesn't apply on CL guns, as its bonus ends at 139mm caliber. Same with BFT. Besides, USN CL guns already have highly questionable ballistics at 15km. You can temporarily install spotter plane and see for yourself how bad it would get at +-19km
-
PT/PM, AR, SI, Demo, CE. That would be cruiser build on a ship with comfortable enough turret traverse. You can spend spare points on BFT if you feel the urge to roll with "AA spec", but otherwise focus on targets you're kinda guaranteed to see, that is surface targets. CVs aren't present in EVERY battle and even then plenty of CV players will avoid you simply because there would be easier targets to go after.

Or giving illusion of choice. Bonus points for doubloons sold for captain respecs when players try to figure out whether build works or not
