at distances 10-15km, maybe due to limited gun elevation. And then Des Moines also had limited dual purpose capacity on her guns. And I'd be much more afraid of radar controlled, rapid firing 203mm with proximity fuses than Yamato piss shower every 30s or so. You mean Yamato and Musashi getting shat on EXTRA hard by planes, which already can happen in game? -

With usual shell velocities even half a second error in estimating lead is enough to render shell completely useless. And again, there were no reports of planes shot down from those "magic" shells... shells that were primarily used for shore bombardment and with actual effect there. And then if wikipedia is any correct, shell gave more of a cone than sphere -

Something that required functional gun fire control... part IJN was considerably lacking. And then the same type of "AA incendiary shrapnel" round was present in most IJN calibers starting from 127mm onward. -

If you want "diversity" you would have to give all ships identical stats, and I mean AL Littorio tier copy/paste. Otherwise there always will be one with "the best" set of traits for the task at hand. Spee is perfect example, mediocre ship in randoms but got 5 minutes in the CB spotlight. -

It is overpowered unless WG can give receipt for it For ships that are hard to play... IJN torpedo boats of tier 8 and 9, Shimakaze remains to be seen but I expect things to be just as bad. Kagero and Yugumo are simply downgrades over Akatsuki, face way stiffer opposition and torps are just disappointing. "High HE alpha"... something you can easily compensate by loading AP on basically any other DD while having all the perks not associated with IJN DDs. -
Which doesn't leave many options and those that left aren't exactly popular

Power discrepancy between T8 and above always was a thing. Benson uptiers relatively well, having the same gunpower as Fletcher. Lighty/Cossack uptier extremely well due to concealment, same with Kagero.

Hsien is for all intents and purposes copy of a C hull Benson, thus trades one gun turret for bit more AA. And Benson was balanced when USN weren't swiss knives of a destroyers Besides, at T8 only DD with reasonably fast torp reload would be Fantasque, Z-23 and Lightning, as first uses triple and latter two use quad launchers with +-90s reload. And both have weaker torps damage wise.

USN smoke binds you for too long in one place, as even the most beached of Yamatos will unstuck themselves and reverse out of range before your smoke dissipates. Also glorious torpedo magnet. Chung Mu might be highlight of the line, as she is essentially Fletcher that trades bit torp reload for DWT, bit better camo and top speed.

Aliexpress DDs already have the best smoke, tied with Brit DD one in terms of flexibility and anti CV protection. Tier 8 onwards they are essentially inferior USN destroyers, but they kinda need to be, otherwise what would be the point of USN DDs, as it used to be in the past.

In WT you also bring to battle tanks/ships without spare parts to do field repairs unless you headbutt wall enough times to "research" them.

Which are the same in terms of game mechanics. Game doesn't give a flying fluff if you hit turbine, boiler, gears or what else, all those are packed as "engine" hitbox as seen above and if you inflict damage to it, it will stop workie.

Until you start knocking them down on a DD with single digit amount of AA mounts Short and mid range AA mounts have the same hp pool, if gamemodels3d datamine is correct - 600hp. No idea how that value interacts with HE shells, but it is known single USN 127mm HE shell can oneshot those. EDIT To make it even more topkek, non penetrating HE shells still can damage and kill secondary mounts one shell went astray and hit superstructure, thus one HE pen with rather obvious hole there

IJN rockets are "bad" only at tier 4 and 6, where you simply throw not enough of them. Shokaku uses the same fireworks as Ryujo/Kaga, just throws 18 of them instead 8 I'm not saying maybe we should nerf amount of rockets per plane, but maybe? In return they could get to be actually accurate, coupled with lowering rocket speed -> Just Dodge could actually work
