Just because Omaha gets to bully Kuma from time to time doesn't make her any less bad. And 406mm are "small" against worst enemies they can be pitted against. And if ship/guns can deal with worst case scenario, odds are, they will be just fine on their own tier or when facing lower tiers.
-
While 406mm is still decent caliber at tier 9, it struggles against T10 cruisers with 30mm plating due to lack of overmatch. Amusingly, penetration flattens with hightier BB guns as 430+ calibers have almost identical practical penetration as 406mm guns - can perforate 300mm at any range and fails against 400mm unless given perfect broadside and/or you're within yolo range.

Convoy sails at 15kts. Yolorado and rest of chubby gang sails at 20-21kts. You can get ahead of them and enter base before convoy, but that takes effort of not coming up with excuses
-
Both. You want both. And Jutland as well. Besides, only DD that outguns Fletcher at tier 9 is Kitakaze and Mogador with reload booster active, so just because there is one ship that *might* outgun Fletcher doesn't mean she becomes unplayable in the process. To top it off, Fletcher pretty much always (besides early beta days) was and still is torpedo powerhouse.

AA still doesn't prevent airstrikes, if anything, different squadron formation and boost changes effectively prevent eating flak unless you actively and on purpose go for them. Most losses occur on planes way home, which means you will have spotting utensil for a CV that will keep scoring Krakens with sub 20k damage done, pouncing on low hp targets

Yes, I've always dreamt of playing spotting utensil simulator 2020 and scoring Krakens with sub 10k damage done

Manfred Von Richthofen is completely unhealthy for the game.
Panocek replied to Riggerby's topic in General Discussion
Or maybe WG game design for carriers was repeatedly proven to be more speshul than playerbase that happens to dwell in the depths of Random Battle game mode? -
Manfred Von Richthofen is completely unhealthy for the game.
Panocek replied to Riggerby's topic in General Discussion
Well, every game without DDs and carriers I've found myself in were absolute boredom simulator, with both teams refusing to go anywhere... because why would you, if your gun range cover most of the map without even moving? Those somewhat handicapped in range department tend to find nice cozy island for themselves, with equal lack of incentive to go anywhere. So if its not the "OP torpedoes" nor "OP carriers" that are the culprit... then what could it be? -
Do transformers premium camo (namely Megatron one) include voices?

Or you can edit config file (preferences.xml) to get them for free. For Bumblebee line looks this, for others you might need to unleash some creativity -
457mm guns, or even Yamato herself require basically perfect broadside to perforate 400mm main belts past 15km, so expecting 380mm guns to do the same is bit optimistic. 300mm main belts found on T9 and below BBs shouldn't be an issue outside of ricochet angle or longest of ranges. Against cruisers, primary condition, as usual is to have broadside present. For dislodging angled T10 BB outside of yolo range, you need HE Conqueror or HE Tsunderer, because no AP besides lucky bow overmatch with Yamato/Shikishima through front bulkhead will work Turrets being merely 430mm and completely flat doesn't help them with survivability either. You would have to angle the turrets between shots, just like during old WoT days in the Maus

Dunno, my Georgia works fine. Yes, AP penetration in practice is the same as 406mm guns, but overmatch lets you bully overconfident T10 cruisers, while guns are accurate and reload fast. 300mm main belt is standard for T8-9 tier and it not protecting against beefier 380mm guns, let alone anything bigger is normal, 38mm upper hull is enough to shrug off most AP and HE shells, while prints overpens whenever BB grade munitions penetrate it. Is Georgia idiotproof? no. Is Georgia bad? hell no. Does Georgia rewards good aim and positioning? very much yes. Accurate guns means dumping entire salvo into water if aim is off and/or target just dodges. That is why Germans with their potato dispersion remain so popular, you don't need to aim with the guns and something will hit somewhere anyway.

FDR and Paulo Emilio currency announced
Panocek replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
I see no issue playing the game, if you still find it fun. But I don't consider direction where game is heading and development/marketing decisions to be worth approving with money. There always will be carrot to keep players busy and to keep them spending. Mythical Stalingrad, upcoming FDR or Kitakami that is floating somewhere, almost bound to be EXTRA heavily paywalled, maybe in Christmas dockyard. This is part where you embrace UK destroyers and their versatility. Yes, playing them for hundreds of games makes them almost tedious, but playing other DDs in comparison feels like wiping yourself with sandpaper. -

Just remove citadel from DD armed cruisers. It might be sound buff for Atlanta and should put Smolensk back in light of soviet glory -

Smolensk class destroyer when? Actually I wonder, if Ger CV and FDR are testbeds to effectively nerf CV bombers just for sake of JustDodge meme. -
And then unless half the server actually does the damn thing, WG will simply compensate loss of single customers with even more outrageous whale bundles, so far it works just fine

With that out of the way, Yoshino is 3xl tier 10 Atago I'd say - potent HE spammer with torps as considerable backup, but being Yamato sized she is BIG and CLUMSY to move around. High citadel doesn't help whenever someone takes a glimpse of your broadside and 178mm main belt sure as hell doesn't protect against BB grade munitions. Pommern is literally Tirpitz+, good for mindless secondary brawls where turtleback and sheer 12gun broadside does the work for you. Salem is Des Moines that trades effectiveness of radar for UK zombie heal but without UK recovery rates for citadel hits. And then, Salem radar shares slot with Hydro, thus you can roll with DFAA+Hydro combo, seen only on US light cruisers.

Shimakaze 20km Torps... the return?

Shimakaze 20km Torps... the return?
Panocek replied to Migantium_Mashum's topic in General Discussion
Primary issue with Shimakaze with 20km torps - Yoshino have them as well. And can work her guns on enemy ships just fine, when waiting for opportunity to test friendly fire mechanics -
very low cruisers presence in random battles
Panocek replied to magicbusITA's topic in General Discussion
Old 406mm BBs were nuking cruisers -> WG gave 30mm plating to T10 -> WG introduced more and more 430+ guns because baBBies were crying about cruisers living too long. Now its time to add 32mm plating to (probably premium) hightier cruisers, so WG have reason to add more 460+ guns, after all Shikishima is already a thing and lots of German fanboys would probably love to see GK with four twin 480/508mm guns -
As much as WG loves to unleash their creativity, they do so "when no one can prove them wrong". And Leipzig was made in steel and have its specs known, I doubt there is enough vodka in the world to convince WG to basically triple Nurnberg plating thickness What next, Tier 10 Omaha made out of 300mm plating?
-
We already have kinda sister ship to Leipzig in shape of Nurnberg and she is tier 6 materiel. For T8, some WG grade gimmicks would have to be needed.
-
Large cruisers, fast firing and accurate 430+ BB guns dealing 1.5k damage with overpens also say hi.
-
Its not like it did stop WG from adding entire ship to rough sketch of a three gun turret, did it?
