At that kind of distance, only Saipan isn't "secondary CV"
-
Yoloing towards nearest enemy at the start of the game is good and consistent way to scream "noob team" afterwards. Given average player in WoWs want to shoot ships, not get shot by ships, thus have developed somewhat alergic reaction to concept of moving forward. "Brawling" battleships are of limited use in camping meta and at best they might get opportunity to do secondary/close range shenanigans in later part of the game, as both team thin down.

resource spend, what ship ? new resource ship?
Panocek replied to BMARC_'s topic in General Discussion
I'd say no. Ohio loses speed, engine boost, maneuverability, battlecruiser dispersion and 1.5s reload on her guns only to get 4th turret, faster reloading and more igniting secondaries as well 400mm main belt. Doesn't mean Ohio is a bad ship, but if you have Georgia, I see little reason to get Montana hull with twin 457s. -
Black friday 2020, how big are the discounts?
Panocek replied to spacejamer95's question in Q&A Section
They might do it just because it might bring MORE money -
You can force overshoot, sector, DFAA and whatnot. Non pepega CV will turn around and smack you anyway. Also the very reason why WG is testing nerf to ambushes, you can't have too much pew pew against planes

AA blazing means you're spotted and free to be fired upon and AA mounts can be easily removed from your ship, unlike smoke consumables. Gun oriented nature of Smaland coupled with even worse torps than Halland also doesn't help when it comes to preserving anti air mounts. "great AA" - hardly better than T8 cruiser. If T10 CV can bully Baltimore, they can bully Smaland as well.

Recommend me a Tier VIII premium cruiser
Panocek replied to StarbuckTheThird's topic in General Discussion
No T8 cruiser have anything resembling armor. Closest to "survivability" would be Germans with their low citadel, which reduces odds of citadel hits at short range, alternatively Ger/US heavy cruisers when facing 380mm guns as those you can ricochet. Otherwise islands or good ol WSAD hax is your best friend. -
I wonder when WG will start selling "unicum skill package" which won't do anything except artificially inflate displayed stats

Last time you could buy separate ships, but I'm not so sure if it will be the case this year. -
Black friday 2020, how big are the discounts?
Panocek replied to spacejamer95's question in Q&A Section
Odds are, only thing "discounted" will be megaturbowhale bundle with all Black ships and all kinds of other nonsense, discounted from 650€ to 599€ -
Biggest one, Carriers got their REEEwork with core principle being "CV will get their strike through any anti air, even if they misplay". Planes no longer spot torpedoes, so at least there's that. Other than that... usual cycle "lets introduce a problem and sell solution for it later", with perfect example being CV REEEwork with European destroyers following afterwards. T10 cruisers live too long due to 30mm plating? Lets introduce BB guns capable of overmatch of said plating, preferably premium ones. Introduction of "large cruisers" like Alaska, which occupy cruiser slot Matchmaking wise. Destroyers with exception of Khaba and Harugumo don't eat full AP penetration hits from guns bigger than 280mm - you still might get a ribbon, but damage will be limited to overpen damage. Introduction of Research Bureau, which... incentivizes... losing progress on researched T10 ships for artificial currency, which then you can spend on some nonsense. Wargaming also brought whaling to whole new dimension, with long term events like Dockyards - you can spend 35k doubloons for a tier 8 ship or grind for over a month to get up to 90%* discount. Offering lootboxes to get early access for silver ships, like current US BB line also became the norm. *90% discount of 35k price, so you're spending 3.5k dubs on a ship that normally cost 12k-13k. So closer to 70% discount.

Its not exactly ship fault for teammates you get in Randoms, is it?

Gneisenau in 2020 - a case of everything wrong in WoWs
Panocek replied to st_dasa's topic in General Discussion
So you'd prefer to have entire ship to be overmatchable like Colorado instead half of the bow being only target? -
Gneisenau in 2020 - a case of everything wrong in WoWs
Panocek replied to st_dasa's topic in General Discussion
Gneisenau is THE best protected battleship at tier 7. Significant icebreaker, 50mm deck, 45mm upper hull, monolithic 350mm main belt. Protection wise only flaws would be weak armored turrets and pretty big superstructure, which is main source of "10k pens everywhere no matter how angle". Nagato, Colorado or KGV would love to get "only 50mm upper hulls and icebreakers", as for those "entire ship" is valid target for medium caliber HE shells and 380mm+ guns. -
champagne FYI: Champagne may be on sale tomorrow
Panocek replied to _Thor_Odinson_'s topic in General Discussion
*doubt* There was added option to purchase "minimal bundle" from Featured tab, so conveniently you can't apply coupon to it. -
You mean start attack run and literally do nothing?
-
It never was supposed to be good in first place Back in the day Kamikaze sisters were considered inferior clones of old Isokaze and Minekaze, which carried the same torps. Silver ships got nerfhammered, Kamis remained and got "mythical" status.

Admirals bundle only on my end as well. No "ship only" option. -
ST 0.9.10, Arpeggio of Blue Steel and Black Friday (DB 86)
Panocek replied to Tanatoy's topic in Development Blog
That requires changing ship model instead just reskinning and doing entire testing-balancing phase, easier is just to copy/paste existing ship that is considered balanced. -
Tbh, given unique nature of carriers, "unique RTS gameplay" was the most befitting for them. Just rebalance RTS instead hamfisting carriers into console friendly controls.

New ARP collab and black friday ships announced! Jean Bart returns!
Panocek replied to Jethro_Grey's topic in General Discussion
IFHE/armor changes. As all T8 and higher cruisers got 27mm plating in one way or another, which is enough to ricochet AP shells. -

Changes affected the other kind of ammo. One you probably loaded by accident, with white tracers -

JB/380mm armed ships took a hit with IFHE/armor changes. Changes to main gun survivability also may increase situations where you will have to launch centerline mounted torpedo once guns are out. -
Sniper divisions fair play or match rigging ?
Panocek replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
You're like half a year late. And its rare enough to be considered random drunktard shenanigans in the evening than actively followed random tactic. if anything, two Musashis with CV for spotting in division, manned by decent players and (probably) with voice comms already are recipe for win, unless countered with team that can be described "yolo" at the most conservative estimate. Unless someone takes a glimpse of that Minotaur sized citadel above waterline. -

Its not like Yamato class have much faster shell flight time though. You need Aztec calendar for both when plotting 30km+ shots anyway
