Or keep 15cm guns as "stock and uninspiring" and then offer rearmament into 128mm as upgrade. Especially as IIRC ze Germans recognized issues with 15cm guns on DD hull and subsequent destroyers (type 1936B) went back to 128 PewPewKanones.

Further game developments: a way to explore?

Not going to happen. Crowd of people that might enjoy "historical" or "logical" changes is way smaller than essentially Fortnite mob, interested in all kinds of wacky nonsense. -
Then there is question if Vampy 2 retains hallmark brit DD acceleration. Crawling smoke is a hindrance more times than its useful, unless you have personal spotting slave next to you.

Shredder won't fill by itself Why give any feedback when it is consistently ignored "because it doesn't align with our vision"?

Horde of potatoes pays more than elitist few who have achieved anything in the game already... Also why I have the feeling WG will tinker with this mechanic but in "debuff" way, like accuracy reduction on fast firing destroyers/cruisers

inb4 accuracy penalty for prolonged firing for DDs and cruisers

Aktualizacja 0.10.3 – Niemieckie niszczyciele: część 1
Panocek replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in Wiadomości i komunikaty

Why destroyer captain should risk his/her ship and yolo when staying just outside of detection range is preferable and still can deliver nasty torpedo hits? -

Tbh the only reason I start the game (not actually play it) nowadays is out of habit... and excellent Hawaii port soundtrack. Black Sea one also was glorious, but it was changed -
Update 0.10.3 – German Destroyers: Part 1
Panocek replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Except Z23 never was considered to be "overperforming" to begin with with her 15cm guns. And removal of the historical guns is only because for sake of artificial gimmick no one asked for, not for "balance". Therefore, if game is merely "inspired" by history... when KGV will be rearmed with 381mm guns to fix "caliber gap" between QE and Monarch, Bismarck will receive 406mm guns to be in line with FdG or GK, or Minekaze/Hatsuharu/Shiratsuyu will be rearmed with 100mm guns, to be brought in line with Akizuki gang? After all, historical accuracy is just an inspiration -

Update 0.10.3 – German Destroyers: Part 1
Panocek replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Still, not carrying out 15cm gun removal off the Z23 should be rather easy, while German DDs in their early access might give enough time to copy/paste Z35 with Z23 stats, with ship replacement carried out in 10.4 or whenever Ger DDs leave their early access. -
Don't worry, Zed 23 is already about to lose her 15cm guns on the altar of gimmick god

At least your game knows when to run old version, mine after patching is hellbent on starting 10.3 only to bounce off from 10.2 server, as usual

Issue is, with automated targeting, you can't make them "balanced", as those, just like automated AA will be "overpowered" ie pulverizing anything in sight or "underpowered", failing to achieve goal of destroying enemy (ship, planes) before they can inflict meaningful damage. And given old Massa/Georgia/Ohio and especially meme Graf Zeppelin secondaries were outright nasty against correct targets within their range, its clear WG don't want that Manual secondaries can be done, as WoWs Blitz or whatever is name of mobile version shows. You know, the game aimed at people often described as being beaten by a goldfish in terms of attention span. -
Why is this happening ? Why is this even possible?

Afaik initial Furutaka class had fixed torpedo tubes in the hull, only after refit they got "normal" torpedo launchers on the deck?

Update 0.10.3 – German Destroyers: Part 1
Panocek replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
So, with removal of historical armament of a historical ship, as Z-23 will be stuck with 128mm guns she never had, when can we expect three British destroyers - Icarus, Jervis and Lightning to be rearmed with 113mm guns, to be in line with Jutland and Daring? Or when King George will get 381mm guns to fill the gap between Queen Elizabeth and Monarch, for that matter @YabbaCoe if you want reasonable solution to this problem to bother Petersburg with - let Z-23 keep her 15cm guns for time being but schedule her for replacement with Type 1936B destroyer, of which Z36 could apply, as Z35 is already in game and could be used as template for quick copy/paste. That or cancelled Z40-45 if devs would want to introduce some fantasy tweaks to them. Z23 herself could be turned into coal/free exp ship or she could replace Z31 in "15cm" branch and bring 5gun broadside into the mix. -
I believe to I've noticed that the hard way during one and only CV game I had in a long time, when @Zuihou_Kai bothered me sufficiently enough to grief him with Audacious ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That said, I must throw in "fixed skill gap" joke, because that sole game, making all the mistakes possible and then some still was rated unicum Also imagine plane of existence this horse must be achieving after not merely beating, but outright pulverizing for 2nd year by now. Or its 3rd? Can't tell anymore

Same base pen, same story.

Take a long, educated think how often you see targets you can engage with improved penetration and how often you see targets that are still too well armored to do anything even with IFHE. Then decide if slashing fire chance in half is good trade off.
-
Then how about you get yourself a "OP torpedo destroyer" and farm everyone with Wargaming blessing?

So, with removal of Deadeye and secondary builds effectively gone, whole concept of "build variety for battleships" wasn't just thrown the window, it was jettisoned through the airlock into the void while cruisers and destroyers boil down to "what is least useless". At this point, WG might as well ditch whole commander skill selection and give ship stat bonuses based on captain level and ship type, or better yet, based on ship line, as its clear Lesta can't or is not willing to make actually balanced and interesting skill lineup. Assuming stat bonus every three levels, to keep current 21 "level" cap: Shimakaze captain would get 3% concealment bonus at lv3; 5% improved torpedo reload at lv6; 5% increased torpedo speed at lv9; 5% increased torpedo damage at lv12; additional consumables at lv15, 5% improved speed at lv18; 10% reduced torpedo detection at lv21 Meanwhile similarly leveled up Khabarovsk captain would get: 10% more hp at lv3; 10% increased gun range at lv6; 5% improved gun reload at lv9; additional 10% increased gun range at lv12; additional consumables at lv15; additional 5% improved gun reload at lv18; 15% increased HE penetration at lv21 (enough to threaten 25mm plating on CLs) Premium ships would NOT have any commander bonuses from level ups, which may or may not be enough for The Spreadsheet to allow removed ones back into circulation, so WG could stop copypasting ships so hard to make up for their own balancing quackups. I had idea of randomized bonuses every "level up", akin to randomized stats on (MMO)RPG items, but that would probably cause sudden and severe spare pants shortage in Lesta should they calculate how much they would gain from tryhard players rerolling their captains to get "perfect" stats

Its been working since day one of WoT... so why change golden formula? Though WoT team at least pays attention to its own PTS and run "sandbox" servers from time to time if they want to test something.
