  1. Since I (apparently) joined quite early, there are not many tier 8 ships online (or they all get divided into t6 games ). In most matches there were only 3-4 tier 8 ships on each side and yes, you actually saw both New Orleans and Mogami class cruisers in most games. Who would have thought it possible? As for the angles: Not sure if this is 100% accurate (the replay had slower turrets for some reason, meaning that I had to improvise and find a situation besides the one I had created when playing), but I think this is the limit for the rear turrets. Looks the same as the images you posted in the thread, I'm sorry to say. EDIT2: Took another round in the replay and got a better angle:
  2. Who is this toast-person you are referring to? I knew that the build existed, but I thought it wasn't all that effective (bad ship handling and AA for instance). After two games with 100k+ damage on the test server, I'm not so sure any more. EDIT: Forget about the AA, the C-hull barely does anything in that department. The lower HP pool on the other hand...

    Survivability Expert (tier 4 captain skill) adds 400 HP for every tier, which means 2800 extra HP for the Gneisenau (58200 + 2800 = 61000).
  5. Warships.today says otherwise! (Obviously my overall solo stats don't count since my plebdays are included, thus my recent solo stats are more accurate!!11!) According to the news article, the opposite is true. As such, premium account users will have an easier time getting the third crate: In my opinion, only base XP should count, but I guess this is merely another way to tempt people into buying premium time.

    I do believe WG when they say that the average credit gain has increased, but that does not mean that the change is a good one. For instance, I have earned more when I've had a "less-than-stellar" game and died than on a game where I have dished out a lot of damage and managed to conserve my hit points. When you take into account that the average players/bad players (well, excluding BBadies that camp for obvious reasons) are more likely to die during the game (getting a lot of "tanked" damage due to focus-fire/bad positioning), they will now earn credits where they normally would have had a negative income. As such, WG can claim that it is a successful feature but it seems that for good players and/or at higher tiers, the credit problem has worsened. In any case, as long as we do not have statistical data to back this up, this is merely speculation on my part (although I suspect that I am at least partially correct). We'll hopefully get more information when Sub_Octavian finish his article: (Source, apologies if it has already been posted)

    Even though you were using the spectator mode, you cannot see the enemy ships if they aren't spotted by your team mates (as that would give an obviously unfair advantage if you were to communicate with your team). As such, the Benson should be more invisible than visible. Unless, of course, I completely misunderstood your question/problem...

    Aren't we able to zoom in with torpedo tubes after the latest (?) patch though? I remember that I was able to do so, but I'm unsure if it was merely on the test server.

    Considering that the WoT-developers want to implement a similar solution as the captain system (the entire crew as one entity), I really doubt that the WoWs-developers will do the opposite. The crew system in 'Tanks is overly cumbersome in any case, particularly because of tanks that do not share the same crew setup as the rest of the line. So yeah, more skills should be added, but I do not want more "captains"/officers.

    But how would we then get the "fair and balanced" detonations? For some flags it would make sense, but it will remove both rewards for achievements and monetary income for WG (not to mention certain balancing issues). As such, I only support this suggestion (alternatively, instead of permanently for gold you could buy it with credits for single use) for the anti-detonation flag as that does not drastically change the stats of the ships. Having said that, I don't really agree with WG's decision to sell flags for money, but since it's being done, they should make them buyable with silver/credits as well...

  12. You should have heard the saltiness: "how come I always get shot at in smoke but cannot do the same in return?!" Having said that, that was nothing compared to how I reacted when a destroyer in my team managed to write "we should cap B" after the entire team had failed to go after the objectives and had lost all map control! In any case, at least I managed to avenge Bagel with a well-placed fire on KPtja's Iowa before I got focused by pretty much anyone that could take a shot at me.

    Hindenburger's citadel is below the waterline and the roof of said citadel is 45 mm thick. As such (since Iowa does not shells with a diameter of 630+ mm), the shells naturally bounced off the roof. Other than that, I'm not sure if the shells would explode inside the ship in any case since the Iowa was too close and should have used the sea as a way to arm the shells.

    Well, you can comment, but that doesn't change the fact that your comment had nothing to do with the thing I was complaining about, namely the usual "but X nation also committed atrocities"/"Y nation is bad ingame, why does WG hate Y nation?"/"historically Z was the stronkerest (citation needed) so why is it crap ingame?". You also can witness the obvious bias when it is automatically assumed that a branch is better just because it belongs to a certain nation (even though the opposite is true). So tell me again, what is unhistorical about the performance of certain ships in the game? Or rather, to draw an analogy from 'Tanks, should T-34 be able to beat Panthers and Tigers 1vs1 just because Soviet Union (as well as the Allies) won the war? Or should KV-1 be extremely good in the game because it was decimating Pz.IIIs and early Pz.IVs? In any case: Have fun.

  22. Well, Bagel can confirm my level of saltiness when I realised that most, if not all, of our destroyers were useless. Was a fun game though!
  23. Hopefully it will be French/Italian/German destroyers. The game doesn't exactly need more battleships and two cruiser lines in a row might be a bit silly considering the "fair and balanced" state at tiers 7-9 (when there are a lot off battleships around at least). So in stead of actually listening to the players, they decided to claim that the depot was not necessary until now? Wouldn't it have been better to just implement it from the start? If I remember correctly, I believe it was also stated that the depot would be easily implemented as well, which made the past decision even more arrogant in nature. Maybe this is part of their new policy of " "? Credit where credit is due, I suppose... Hopefully this is just the usual PR mumbo-jumbo to calm down the "will there be submarines/U-boat?"-crowd. Perhaps they will work as a part of a "search and destroy" game mode, but the (relatively) slow pace of the game makes this rather unlikely. At least they are aware of the issue but I fear that any buff/nerf will result in the usual forum whine. After all, cruisers, fires and HE are overpowered... Hopefully it will be the last addition to the game. Prioritising this fantasy line (well, tier 6 and above at least at best) before any other famous battleship line is a travesty.
  24. Lies and filthy propaganda! D:< I managed to dodge most of your torpedoes, but between your Kamikaze and the Kirov, I had nowhere left to run. I honestly thought that you were closer to the Kirov as well (as in, on the other side of the "torpedo island"), so I was taken by surprise when I spotted the torpedoes. My super-late-breaking was thus a bit too late... I almost had you at one point though, but you managed to slip away :<.
