How? And won't different people have different "common senses" regarding ships then (based on their individual preferences and perceptions), thus making the term common sense a contradiction? It does not, but it does make certain observations from your part quite irrelevant for those who understand the game better than you do. EDIT: To elaborate, if you show understanding of said aspects, your stats doesn't matter, but if your argument ignore or contradicts those, people will not take you seriously and will point out your limited understanding.
-
So your answer to that is: "no, it isn't"? I see no examples of why common sense regarding a game (a game where the majority does not understand the game mechanics I might add) is the best way to discredit an opinion as irrelevant. I mean, using the definition of common sense, aren't you just replacing "stats" with "truths decided by the majority"?

BB's - Something needs to be done before more are released.
Kartoffelmos replied to ApesTogetherStronK's topic in General Discussion
What can I say, he's the hero game needs, but not the one BBabies want right now. So they'll argue with him, because he can take it. In any case, despite what WG/Lesta is doing right now, they've said that they need to adjust the BB-population (which has only gotten worse after that statement) so their enjoyment will eventually be limited in some way or another. -
Common sense is a horrible solution. Not only does it vary between individuals and cultures, but a lot of it is based on ignorance, discredited science and/or simple guesswork. I mean, common sense dictates that the sun is yellow, but in reality, it isn't.
-
And how do you decide that? Or rather, who gets to decide which topic is complete nonsense and which topic is worthy of discussion? After all, from the thread-starters point of view, the topic is completely legitimate (unless trolling, but that's another issue).

Having finally mastered the dark sorcery that is Microsoft Excel, I can do even better: Class distribution by battles - EU server: 20.05 - 27.05 Class/Tier Tier 3 Tier 4 Tier 5 Tier 6 Tier 7 Tier 8 Tier 9 Tier 10 BB 66565 107891 184011 223430 284833 334053 100479 93215 CA/CL 68739 88348 180317 199979 163164 138944 58246 59994 DD 24215 45194 86945 64184 89631 68447 52580 60643 CV 0 29898 47031 34027 36152 18343 10699 5576 Total 159519 271331 498304 521620 573780 559787 222004 219428 Class distribution by battles - EU server: 20.05 - 27.05 Class/Tier Tier 3 Tier 4 Tier 5 Tier 6 Tier 7 Tier 8 Tier 9 Tier 10 BB 41,7 % 39,8 % 36,9 % 42,8 % 49,6 % 59,7 % 45,3 % 42,5 % CA/CL 43,1 % 32,6 % 36,2 % 38,3 % 28,4 % 24,8 % 26,2 % 27,3 % DD 15,2 % 16,7 % 17,4 % 12,3 % 15,6 % 12,2 % 23,7 % 27,6 % CV 0,0 % 11,0 % 9,4 % 6,5 % 6,3 % 3,3 % 4,8 % 2,5 % Total 100,0 % 100,0 % 100,0 % 100,0 % 100,0 % 100,0 % 100,0 % 100,0 % Last time I did this, I did it semi-manually, but now I can just copy-paste the stats from maplesyrup and let Excel do the rest. Sadly, the latest stats are not available (author is on vacation?), but I think the trend is clearly visible. Stats from 15.04 - 22.04: -
USS ENTERPRISE (BIG E) - DO NOT MESS IT UP WG
Kartoffelmos replied to TheStreetProfessa's topic in General Discussion
It was too hard. -
Shells have flight times and it is possible to shoot destroyers (and ships in general) in smoke based on the shell tracers/muzzle flashes. In the case of the former, the enemy fired when you were spotted but the shell arrives after you drop off the radar. The latter is quite self-explanatory.

You could, but I can argue for the buffs and use the servers stats to back up my arguments. Battleship captains asking for buffs? Not so much. -
USS ENTERPRISE (BIG E) - DO NOT MESS IT UP WG
Kartoffelmos replied to TheStreetProfessa's topic in General Discussion
Errr... BBabies is a term regarding bad BB-captains who ask for unneeded buffs and want the class to compensate for their own level of competence (or lack thereof). -
So you are not a tiny bit biased in saying that stats doesn't matter?

So in short, they secured some points for their team before going down. Alternatively, got a kill for a possible mission. Was the battleship a Texas by any chance? -
Well, it is my opinion that bad players should hold their opinions to themselves. So some users have the right to voice their opinions, while other users cannot use the same right to say that, based on stats, the first users are spouting nonsense?

Tempted to use my free xp on module upgrades... But!
Kartoffelmos replied to hgbn_dk's topic in General Discussion
I think the Admiral Makarov (tier 6 Russian version of the Nürnberg) is a far more likely candidate since that would give us a mid-range free XP goal. -
USS ENTERPRISE (BIG E) - DO NOT MESS IT UP WG
Kartoffelmos replied to TheStreetProfessa's topic in General Discussion
I was a bit inaccurate in my statement. I was mainly thinking about the comment section . -
Or maybe, just maybe, the game is balanced around the cooldowns and the number of charges (before adding Superintendent or premium consumable) corresponds to the number of planes that the ships carried in reality (with some balancing factors thrown into the mix)?

Just wait for a review from Aerroon or Flamu. Both are better players and reviewers than iChase. The amount of American butthurt in the YouTube-video (and in the opening post) is hilarious by the way. -
I just hope that XVM stats (or whatever the WoWs-equivalent is called) won't be as popular in this game as it is in WoT. The small positive aspect (potentially better teamplay) does not outweigh all the negative ones.

Online ganging up, - your thoughts
Kartoffelmos replied to Excalibur1987's topic in General Discussion
Are you so famous/infamous that name-focusing should even be considered as an explanation? If not, here are some possible alternatives: Utility ship (radar-cruiser, etc.) Squishy ship (lightly armoured, large citadel, small HP pool, etc.) Low hit points Damage dealer (glass cannon, firestarter, etc.) Visible usage of damage control OP ship or a ship that's deemed OP by certain player groups Tempting target (ships showing broadside, cruisers in general if the opponent is a BB, etc.) Stealthy ship that is spotted for a limited time due to preparation of smoke or waiting for the shooting-induced concealment penalty to wear off Ships that, combined with one or more of the points above, can easily escape into cover Ships that are capping Lone ships/ships with bad AA (vulnerable to CV strikes) Probably more, but you get the point. Without more information about the specific circumstances, there are just too many variables to consider. What you may deemed as a tactical misstep might not be so in the eyes of the enemy/other players. -
The French used the metric system when designing/building ships. They win by default.

Bismarck Secondary Range not improving
Kartoffelmos replied to Dane_With_No_Name's topic in General Discussion
I think you have misunderstood slightly. The stats you see in the port are updated when you install a relevant module (as you have done) or upgrade your captain with a relevant skill. Bisku's base secondary range is 7 km: 7 * 1,20 * 1,20 *1,05 = 10,585 [km]. The first two coefficients are from AFT and the module while the last one is from the signal flag. -
Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Kartoffelmos replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
I wouldn't care, as I'm not overly nationalistic when it comes to these things. In WoT, Churchill III was added as a Russian premium before the introduction of the British heavy tanks and that didn't ruin the game for anyone as far as I know. Perth was added before the RN cruisers as well if I'm not mistaken? Be positive about it, think of it as a sign that the branch is coming soon™. -

You must be famous. Why? Because the fact that you spelt Musashi wrong was somehow worthy of a post in the news thread .
