HMS Thunderchild - Name Suggestion
SeaMonsterUK replied to SeaMonsterUK's topic in General Discussion
No need for fictional Heavy Cruisers either, as we got 4 that can fit in Tier 7, 8, 9 and 10, including a 5 gun design study for the Surrey-class Heavy Cruisers. So paper designs all the way -
HMS Thunderchild - Name Suggestion
SeaMonsterUK replied to SeaMonsterUK's topic in General Discussion
No need for fantasy. We got 4 versions of the Lion-class, 2 of which are suitable for tiers 8 and 9, with the other 2 being suitable for tier 10. -
Don't think they keep to a strict time table. My guess is they check the progress of of the ships and lines, and put set dates for testing while keeping the full release of the ships flexible.
-
Could be the Russian DD sub-branch and British Battleship lines will be released at the same time.
-
Cruisers probably. My guess is they are concentrating on Cruisers for the time being when it comes to the USN and IJN. With any luck we'll also get a RN Heavy Cruiser line.
-
I think testing will start in February.
-
And RN BB's should be, if I calculate correctly since it takes 3-6 months to model a single ship depending on class, out by Spring, at the earliest.
-
Even if a Dev said it, I doubt they will be releasing Russian Battleships before the Royal Navy Branch. Russia has only enough battleships of there own and of Italian design for Tier 5 max, with 1 ship at either tier 9 or 10. They would have to go onto a witch hunt in Russian Archives just to find designs that are perhaps obscure to us Westerners, or make up the ships as if they existed, and perhaps make the K-1000 as Tier 10 minus the missiles. (note, K-1000 was a rumoured Battleship of the Russian navy that never existed and it's rumours was actively circulated by Russian Intelligence Agencies. If WG was to add it, it would have 12x 16" guns and perhaps the Missile Domes as props rather than active objects.)
-
RN BB's are much easier to find, unlike Soviet BB's which will need a lot of research and pulling out of backsides to get a single full tree. So my money is on the RN BB's coming first.
-
I wouldn't expect Russian Battleships till late Autumn next year. And there is 10x more data on British Battleships that Russian Battleships, espiecally in the mid to high tiers.
-
Could be used as a Premium. Hard to play but very rewarding.
-
If it's currently in Modelling we may see them early or late spring with any luck.
-
There is only 1 Destroyer in the British line up we can realistically get at Tier 10, the Daring-class, Australien Battle might be able to as well but on a stretch.
-
Well it was done in a rush with little research unlike the other lines
-
They shouldn't overlap if you do them properly.
-
Simpler solution is to have both lines coming of Caledon, alternatively Monmouth, armed with 14x6" Mk VII guns in 2 Twin and 10 Single mounts. Our answer to the St. Louis-class.
-
But we were told to keep it civilised - i.e no arguing. We can debate, but we'll just get into an argument over King George V, best to keep our opinions to us over that subject.
-
Bottom one I posted is from the 1906 edition of the novel. Either way, HMS Thunder Child entered service in the late 1800's. Best that WG can do, without breaking any kind of copyright (correct me if I'm wrong), is to at least make a nod towards the ships name with the Tier 10 Cruiser, or Tier 10 Battleship, the former I believe to be more appropriate.

Most illustrations and Models disagree:
-
Delhi is a 1 off Danae-class Light cruiser armed with 5" guns and Fire control systems from a Gleaves-class Destroyer.
-
It has Torpedo tubes as well yes, but the prow is as I said, used for ramming. But they are not like Destroyers at all, they are closer to Pre-Dreadnought Battleships.
-
It's a fictional ship, and Ironclad Torpedo Ram is like a Battleship with the ramming prow like on a Trireme.

Kaseko, before you start an argument, best to read this: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/62460-royal-bb-line/page__st__470__pid__1446434#entry1446434

16E-38 is basically a 12 gun Lion-class Battleship, and 19-- Heavy Cruisers were designs drafted up during world war 2, 1939 and 1941 had 9x3 8" guns with the 1940 design having between 9-12 9.2" guns.
