Random Battles has nothing to do with Realism or Immersion, the tech trees on the other hand...... And Pensacola didn't need it's guns buffed to "martian heat ray" levels like so many people want with the KGV's 14" guns.

The reason the 15" guns not used was not just because of the London Naval Treaty, but also because of the lack of skilled Technicians and Ordance designers. And I don't think the shells from the 16" Mark 1 guns of the Nelson, would fit into 15" guns that were planned for the KGV class. And it was 16" guns that the RN had no time for when it came to the clause, not the 15" guns.

Same then goes for overbuffing it to unrealistic and immersion breaking levels. Let see, HMS Complete and Utter Joke?

Who actually gives a damn about the purists anyway? The only way this ship is going to be tier 8 is by getting those 3 triple 15" guns or bigger. Which were planned for KGV.

14" guns are on par, penetration wise, with the 11" guns used by the Germans for the Scharnhorst, and not as good as 14"/50 guns used on New Mexico and Tennessee-class Battleships. It would need either the 15" or 16" guns otherwise it's just another complete joke like the British Cruiser "Special AP" Rounds. And with 14" guns it would be inferior to North Carolina and Bismarck-class Battleships, and Amagi-class Battlecruisers in terms of both penetration and max damage output.

But 14" guns aren't Tier 8 weapons. So it's either 15" or 16" guns for KGV, so take your pick as it's the only way it would be balanced at tier 8 without being a complete joke.

And putting it at Tier 8 puts us with another KanonenJagdpanzer situation. And she wouldn't need to be nerfed to oblivion to fit tier 7.

The armour may not need nerfing, the AA definitely, but the Armour maybe OK at that tier without being overpowered, that's why I used the word probably rather than most certainly. And it would never be at Tier 8 with those 14" guns, it would need to be 15 or 16" guns to even be considered on par with the other ships.

And bigger guns.

In terms of penetration, the Mk 16 is better. And if the Lion 1938 is tier 8, then that would bring the KGV to Tier 7, meaning it would need nerfs to AA, and quite possible 2" off it's belt armour.

The fact is, the 14" gun itself are not as good as US developed 14" guns from 1935 for the New Mexico and Tennessee-class Battleships during modernisation.

The entire line doesn't have to be bad, for it to suck. And 16" guns were also planned for the KGV-class Battleships, but the Royal Navy couldn't afford to wait for a clause that would allow them unlike the Americans. So either the 15" or 16" guns are on KGV for Tier 8, or you suck it up and accept some nerfs to put it at Tier 7.

It's main guns are still better than on the KGV.

But then again, I'm trying to make sure that the British Battleship line doesn't suck.

Also, the 14" Mk VII is marginally worse than the 14" guns used on the New Mexico and Tennessee-class Battleships thanks to the AP Shell Mark 16. I don't see how that justifies a 14" gun armament on a Tier 8 ship.

14" guns don't have the penetration to even combat the Bismarck or North Carolina-class ships except at point blank range. There is no way in HELL 14" guns will work at Tier 8, and the only way KGV will be Tier 8 is if it had the 15" or 16" guns it was planned to have, and was planned to have either, but both rejected for separate reasons.

15" guns have the performance to work at Tier 8. 14" guns don't.

That one weakness is her guns which can be fixed by giving her bigger guns, such as 15" or 16". Which I've actually stated several times if you had taken notice, which obviously you haven't.

You are still missing one important fact, KGV cannot go at tier 8 without bigger guns.
