A New Mexico has a top speed of 21.5 knots. A Colorado has a top speed of 21.5 knots. Both only if they sail in a straight line - which you shouldn't do most of the time. So dear CA captains, you won't get any fire support when you run ahead at 34 knots, simply because we CAN'T support you yet. If you spot the enemy, disengage and fall back towards your BB. Once the BB is in range, let the BB get their attention and shower the enemies with shells. The BB can take a few hits from enemy BBs and CAs, you can't. Also the BB - if clever enough - will just blast the enemy CAs out of your way. Dear BB captains, you won't be useful camping at the edge of the map. Your CAs can't support you there. Also they don't have the HP to take all the fire coming at them. Support your CAs with posing a threat that can't be ignored but also don't go in full yolo so that they can't protect you. Aim for enemy CAs and BBs that you can hit in the citadel an let your CAs take care of the rest. Also don't be afraid to turn after you fired your salvo to keep yourself in optimal firing distance.

You can make it your default setting via the options menu too now. Should be on the third tab, lower left side.

Use AP. Seriously, you wreck cruisers with citadel hits, and the guns are definitely accurate enough to pull it off.

Torpedoboats and hangarships.

Maybe he was shot by a shell and misinterpreted the tracer as a rocket trail or maybe the dive bombers? -
That would actually require the skills of reflection and self doubt and self criticism. That is a truely rare skill that even good players don't often have.
-
Uhm... if you buff BBs like that, I won't play anything but a BB anymore. They already wreck cruisers like hell when you aim properly. If you buff their accuracy, they will even wreck DDs just the same.

Stop using acronymes like dd etc. for the intrest of future playerbase

Well BS could also mean the extrements of a male cow, so you'd be better of using BB for that. Also the german abbrevation of a "Schlachtschiff" (which literally just means battleship) could be considered offensive. -
I doubt a german sub could have gotten THAT FAR into the British Isles while avoiding detection anyways... Guess the carrier was just something they published for propaganda reasons... they might have noticed via espionage or recon that one carrier sunk during that time and just invented the sinking by a german sub... and while doing so they upgraded Dasher to Ranger. Well the paragraph about the sixth patrol can be translated as follows:
-
According to your list, the only carrier lost in the respective time period of 21. March 1943 to 3. May 1943 was HMS Dasher which indeed was a US built merchant ship. But it seems unlikely as HMS Dasher was only half the size of USS Ranger and the place Dasher sunk was very close to the British Isles - although that would have put her within the range of what U 404 could have traveled in 6 days.
-
Actually, U 404 was ordered in 1939, laid down in 1940 and commissioned in 1941: http://www.ubootarchiv.de/ubootwiki/index.php/U_404
-
Yes. For Comparison, this is U-995 - the last existing Type VIIC - which can be visited at Kiel:
-
Myogi sits behind island. Myogi doesn't move. Myogi sees torp bombers approaching. Myogi sees torp bombers circling the island to get to the right drop angle. Myogi eats all 6 torps. Myogi complains about OP carriers.
-
Don't forget though, ships are moving and torpedoes are only 2 to 3 times faster than the ship. So if you launch your torps at max range and the target is moving away from you, they will not hit. Similar, if a target is moving towards you and you fire your torpedoes, they can hit although you fired your torps outside your max range.
-
The distinction between CL and CA is simply main gun calibre size. Displacement wise she was way above the 10.000 tons limit.
-
Well THAT at least seems untrue... at least that account he's posting with has 0 battles in WoT.
-
HE got personal? You men after YOU got personal for calling him (and several others just on the way) Really!? You definitely have a disturbed sense of reality...
-
Japanese put torpedoes on everything. Reason for that being that they couldn't outproduce US in terms of warships but knew they would have to face them in battle sooner or later. So they decided to slap the best torpedoes they could make on any ship they could find, so that even smaller ships could take out superior vessels.
-
Possible solutions for hitting the map edge: Come to a dead stop like hitting an island Bounce back 180° turned Take damage if you're in contact with the map border Make shells / torps hit the ship even if partly outside the map border and adjust leading indicators for torps
-
Putting it mildly? Usually I oblierate Omahas with BB broadsides completely, regardless of health... only thing that might save the Omaha is RNG.
-
Or go to the settings menu and activate the alternative target display (somewhere on the last tab lower left) and don't have to press the ALT key ever again.
-
Actually it's not that hard. You have to get used to your shell trajectory, then you can pretty much aim directly at the citadel of any ship at any distance - as long as they are sailing a straight line. Anything else is RNG.

Aren't battleships kinda underpowered right now?
Adwaenyth replied to Mars_Triumphant's topic in General Discussion
Don't know how that works exactly with overpen. My guess would be to check the distance travelled (reducing the penetration potential) inside the citadel combined with another armour check upon exiting the citadel, if it penetrates that again it would be an overpen. -
Dunno but I've got 64% wins and 7%(!) draws so I lose only 29% of my battles... maybe I'm less willing to lose than I am inclined to win?
-
Oh I can beat that, we had a win of 863 : 862. Enemy team had 2 zones, we had 2, 1 was contested - enemy got their points in a 1 second interval before us. Won't get much closer than that. One second later and it would have been the other way around.
-
Largest problem I have with BBs is that I switch to the next tier, I need some time to adjust to the shell trajectory. It's pretty easy to hit most ships in the citadel if you aim properly. Aiming properly however means you have to know how your shells will fly to the target, so the adjusting to a new gun characteristics is the most decisive factor for getting a BB to work. After that, it's mostly positioning your ship right.
