Best CA for 8th Ranked Season

Quite simple. You avoid having to fight T10 ships that way.

    A solution to passive/poor gameplay?

You know why things like this will never happen? Because the average casual, not even bothering about things like that is so large compared to people that do, that they outrank you by about two or three magnitudes in terms of sheer numbers. WG will not introduce such a model, because these people just want to play. They are the base carrying the financial revenue for WG and they are content with what they do, so why should WG change that? Dealing with that is what you, I and everyone else has to do.

Rewarding Good players on Losing Teams

The problem with DDs mainly is, that they rush in and commit all the way so that there is no chance in hell that they will survive the engagement unless you sacrifice yourself for them - and even then it's a 50:50 chance at best. I'm not afraid of engaging a cap, even with BBs bearing down on my CA, just the problem that while I draw fire of 2-3 BBs when doing so, means that the DD is mostly in a 1 on 1 situation because I'm more busy evading incoming fire than actually aiming at the enemy DD that ours can't hit at point blank range...

This is going to be painfull :(

Hetzner serverfarms have a direct connection to DeCIX - the largest network node in the world in terms of traffic... however that says nothing about the poor connections that you have in rural areas of Germany.

Rewarding Good players on Losing Teams

If you've got - at best - a 50:50 chance of getting the cap then yes, forget about capping for the moment. It's not about who caps first, but who reaches 1000 points first. Rather try to survive and scout for your team - something the DD sitting all smoked up in the cap can't do any more for his. Trading your DD for the enemy DD with a good chance of losing the cap anyways is a bad trade rather than let them just have the cap. Going in agressively isn't much of a problem, getting out when things are not in your favour is a skill you might want to learn.
  6. Don't even start with flags... German ships would have to fly 4 or 5 different flags and one in particular is kinda offensive to a lot of people...
  7. The question is, how and when would it be tracked? If it's just a ribbon, it couldn't do much harm. If it's tracked on the statistics that's a totally different story. Either way, you'd have to determine, when an assist is really an assists and not just "hit the target with a stray shell that wasn't even aimed at it".

    Displaying Emblems/Insignias after being sunk

"This long" being what? 5 seconds compared to a 20 minute battle? I might be insensitive towards this matter, but I do have the feeling that this issue is a tiny bit exaggerated too much...

    Displaying Emblems/Insignias after being sunk

Why does it even matter? The moment you see it, you can't do much more anyway.
  10. As a German and Bavarian I'm not ashamed of saying, that during my stay in Southampton I found some very tasty local beer in the pubs, as long as it was from smaller breweries. And yes, you may take that as a compliment dear Brits. For German beers, usually the smaller breweries are better. Among the larger ones, I'd suggest "Augustiner", but if you can manage to get a local brand, try "Fürst Carl dunkel", "König Ludwig hell/dunkel" or "Huppendorfer".
  11. But what would Bavaria be without Swabia, Franconia or Upper Palatinate?

    change in battleship

The Hindenburg on the other hand is quite effective at dealing with most BBs. Your armor is trollish enough to try to actively juke enemy BB salvos down to about 15km most of the time. At that range you pepper them with HE shells like there's no tomorrow, and if they show any kind of broadside to use all turrets, you can AP them quite nicely too. The high rate of fire really makes up for the lack of alpha.
  13. Well so I completed the 3rd of the New Year Raid campaign missions and something very odd struck me about the captains name, that came with the Gaede... Apparently a former Prime Minister of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg, European Commisioner for Energy, Digital Economy and Society and - currently - Budget and Human Resources decided he had a sudden career change, and went to command a german WW2 destroyer. I just don't get used to imagining THIS guy commanding my destroyer:
  14. Well maybe that's the reason why he did it.

    playin bad on new levels!

Well yesterday I had the strangest amounts of suicidal teams I've encountered for the last few weeks, often doing the least sane thing possible. I've seen several CAs trying to bow tank me in a Fiji while 3 BBs that were even closer to them got his nice flat broadside. I've seen a group of 3 DDs rushing around the cap, not even trying to contest it, failing to spot anything because they are all in the same location and their view is blocked by the single smoke in the cap, only to run into the whole enemy team when they finally managed to sail around the cap circle. Sometimes it's hard to react to things like that, especially when you're inexperienced with how the ship handles. Characteristics from the Bayern change a lot when you come to the Gneisenau. The Bayern is a slower but rather maneuverable BB. The Gneisenau will take ages to turn in comparsion due to it's long hull and has weaker armor. It's shell arcs are very different from the Bayern and it suffers from German BB accuracy. So going in close is the right thing to do, but you have to wait for the right moment to do it. You will initially take a ton of damage that you have to mitigate with repair as your superstructure takes a lot of damage and if you're facing a British CL you are in a world of pain if you can't take him out quickly. When you go in, you have to have an exit strategy in place if your team doesn't follow in (which they often do not). You need time to make full use of your repair ability and while the Gneisnau has the speed to pull it off, you need to plan carefully not to take too much damage before you can safely disengage or present a such unfavourable target that the enemy rather target your team than finish you off.

Tier X Carrier gameplay, threats and insults

The problem with carriers and T10 carriers in particular is the huge impact they have on the battle. A good CV captain will give his team vision and strike key targets and protect his team as good as possible form enemy bomber attacks and spotting. This is such a huge responsibility in a battle that very few CV captains are even aware of and even less can handle properly. A bad CV is much more of a handicap than any other ship type in the game and this is the problem with the CV hate. I hate CV battles in any ship because it feels like half of the teams success hinges on a single player and it's extremly difficult to make up for a CV captain that is lacking.

2.5 for distances and speeds. But ships are also scaled up by that factor. So it's 1.5m vs 102m length of the Minekaze or ~4m to 255m Minekaze.

    Dud Torpedos

Interesting. Being recorded at 25 fps I guess then the frame by frame will have a margin of error of 1/25 s * (torp speed in knots) * 0.51444 m/s / kt (Or 1.5m for the fastest 76kt torps). However what you produce seems to have an arming point that is off by more than 1.5m in the worst scenarios, so this might be lag induced. Next question would be, when is the "active" marker triggered. Is it client side only or is it after the server confirmed the torp as active. From the first look, it seems like it's client side only, meaning it triggers as soon as the client thought the arming delay passed after the fire button was triggered. If there is a slight lag between client and server, it is entirely possible, that the client shows the "active" marker although it isn't active on the server.

    Dud Torpedos

Okay in the later case the question is, how much is the difference between the torps detonating and not detonating. The torpedo does not spawn at your own ships center, but in the water slightly away from your ship. And from there it moves with the torpedo speed and arms after the arming delay. If the ellipse is drawn from your own ship and has your ship's center as the torpedo point of origin, it might well be that the distance indicated by the ellipse is too short if it just takes torpedo speed and your own ship's as the torpedo's point of origin.

How do you see different view angles when you live recorded a game? If you have the perspective from different camera angles it has to be a replay and the way the engine processes the replay is notoriously buggy.

why is nelson for free xp?

I'm still curious why WG didn't give the option of customizing the ship (be it as camo or extra research and "buy for gold" modules) to give players the possibility to mod the existing ships as their respective sisters. You could even go so far and say, if you mount the "Rodney" Module for the "Nelson" it gets uptiered, or if you mount the "Musashi" Module on "Yamato" it gets downtiered... but I guess that would require some engine overhaul.

    Dud Torpedos

Another problem arises from this being a replay. Replays do not always display the positions and orientations accurately. Usually it isn't off by much, but in this case precision is key. The server obviously came to the result, that the torpedoes did not arm in time, the client however did. Too bad it's impossible to tell from a video, was the position of the GC off, was the launch point of the Kamikaze off, were both off or is it just a replay bug.

    Dud Torpedos

To be precise arming torps isn't done by range but by time. Ship torpedos arm 1.0 (if I'm not mistaken, could also be1.5) seconds after launch. There is also a delay from you pressing the mouse button to the server actually recognizing the launch which also adds to the desync problem. And yes, off center launchers aim in- or outside the range indicator because the torpedo travels from the launcher and not from the center of the ship. Otherwise the UI would have to render a circle for every launcher - and it would still be off in very close proximity to movement and arming delay being calculated server side and not client side like the UI indicator.
  25. Because it also only takes 5-6 battles when you slap every xp camo and flag you have on a high tier ship... highest XP I had yesterday for one battle was 20k xp and 10k free xp... since I'm also grinding free xp to get the Missouri before it's removed now, those goals align.
