    World of Battleships?

Actually they all burn quite nicely. Yours truely, Hindenburg captain Zao captain Besides, smoke changes means they have a hard time hiding themselves now.

Tell me the Ibuki is not EDIT.

Any CA T9+ is primary targe for all enemy BBs unless a DD is spotted. So you have to cope with that and present the least enticing target by either being far away, having a poor angle to aim at and shifting your course often between unfavourable angles or all of the before mentioned in combination. Also watch the firing timers of BBs that can shoot at you. Pop in and out of stealth until they are bored trying to target you.

    Matchmaker Strike

But do you quit the battles where you are top tier and there are ships that are two tiers lower as you as well? I mean it would just be fair, wouldn't it?

So WG, i thought this shouldnt happen?

Well it is a fail division for not taking preferential MM into account if it was accidental and not an attempt to get better MM for the BB. Still it's like in WoT platooning an E-25 or SU-122-44 with a Tiger I. All are T7 but while the premiums have preferential MM and can normally only meet T8 tanks, the Tiger I will however regularly meet T9 tanks. The only added difference is that the CV gets mirror matchmaking - which would usually work in favour of the BB because unless the MM finds another division with a T5 CV it can only match both to max T6 as the solo T5 CV MM maximum tier takes precedence.

    Maptrick doesnt work anymore?

The current circles for primary, secondary, torpedo and AA armaments already have numbers on them. I play vanilla client and these cricles are already a lot of help estimating the range to a vanished opponent. Requires a little more effort, but with 10-30 seconds time to do so between salvos, that's plenty enough usually. The X is just more convenient.

So WG, i thought this shouldnt happen?

Actually it's pretty logical. MM just found a way to shove the attempt of getting the T5 BB some preferential MM where no sun shines. Carrier mirror matching takes precedence. So a T5 carrier will be mirror matched against another T5 carrier. A T5 carrier has preferential MM, so when a divisioned T5 carrier gets a solo T5 carrier as opponent, that match has to be T6 at max. If MM finds 2 divisions with T5 carriers that have a non preferential MM ship divisioned, he can match BOTH up (which is what happend here) to the max of the non-preferential's ship maximum. So I think it's not only ironic but even funny that MM shafted the attempt to get preferential MM to a non preferential MM ship by actually being lucky enough to find another division that attempted it. In my opinion, it's an actual case of both getting what they deserve.

Both are rather dubious... the X on the minimap however you could also achieve with circles around your ship on the minimap... so 1 circle every 200m or so and you can pinpoint the range of the ship too...

    Noobs will kill this game!

The worst thing about this is that the low damage and losing aren't directly connected but only indirectly. You can have a miserable damage stat but still do a massive contribution to the team. On the other hand, you can try to farm damage and be no help to the team alive. What most people fail to understand is that the game isn't won by one single action but can be very well lost by one. It's a lot like football in that sense as the team with the least mistakes usually wins. Winning the battle is mostly about map control and forcing the enemy to make moves they do not want to on the one hand and to only engage when you've got favourable conditions on the other. Denying the enemy is what you should be aiming for and what most people fail to do and that is what most players do not understand. Yesterday for example we had a DD sitting on the cap popping his smoke and complaining that he doesn't get any support. Well the brainiac forgot that it might be a little hinderance that he smoked up the only channel between the islands to his left and right an no one could spot the ships behind it any more. So naturally they could blaze away because their DD had even half a brain and sailed around the smoke to spot us. While he kept sitting in his one smoke cloud. Of course it was our fault that we didn't help him and not his that he effectively denied us vision of the enemy team while also not spotting their DD that was spotting us... So to no small surprise we had to turn away because there was no way we could stay in the fire for long without being able to return it effectively and he died because he sat in the cap all the time. The one possible winning move in that situation he left us as a team with would have been to leave the cap, take the islands as cover and spot the enemy DD so that we could finish him... well he rather complained about the noob team and how he was doing all the work yadda yadda yadda... It was most definitely his fault and not his teams, yet he thought he was doing the right thing and "contesting the cap". Well I bet if someone tried to tell him that contesting the cap doesn't mean sitting in your own smoke blocking the vision of your entire team...
  10. How to change radar...? For once there is the obvious solution, islands also block radar and sonar. This would be quite obvious because radar waves - while being able to travel long distances over open sea - have rather limited use with raised land in between. Soundwaves also don't travel much further when they change the medium twice. So spotting DDs in smoke while having direct line of sight - ok. Spotting the DD from behind islands - not so much. Other options - in addition to that - would include removing the visual rendering of the ship. Just show a blip on the map... then it can even have a longer duration and range.

    The worst ships

All hail the 18 months old necro thread...

    Nerf Conq already!

No they are not. Analysing statistics might lead to finding new facts or confirming old ones, but that is not the same.

    Nerf Conq already!

Nah, he's the guy that is always right and flames anyone who isn't... that would be almost everyone else. And when he isn't right, well... Admittedly, he IS often right, though taking his statements as granted is bloody wrong. In fact it doesn't matter if Flamu would state that a ship is OP or if Donald Trump would. It's like any belief in something that you didn't check or question. If something stands unchallenged just because someone said so - no matter who he is - it's rarely a good thing...

    My review of this game

Nope. BS is BS, regardless of whom utters it. Besides, it's not a review it's a normal rant. A review would hold argumentation and factual examples to support them, not just a statement of his opinion. And that is why it is BS.

    Year of the cruiser when?

The feeling why CAs seem so rare is that the BB population of 4-5 is almost a given in any T8+ battle. It's not that there aren't battles with 4+ CAs in it, it's just that there will always be 4 or more BBs. And CAs are a lot less forgiving than BBs. One mistake and you're done for, so what is the obvious conclusion for people that don't have the grasp of the game? They go play BB - and still will not do well in them. This is why you have so many BBs hanging back and not supporting their CAs up front and why you have to dance through a gauntlet of 380mm+ shells fired from all directions at your CA. On the other hand, avoiding those BB salvos mostly works for a CA since they are such terrible shots usually. The accuracy of T10 BBs together with generally a lot more guns is what really kills T8 CAs. The gap between T8 and T9 BBs isn't so big in terms of accuracy and/or guns available, however it is pretty big between T9 and T10 BBs. Since T7 CAs aren't able to meet T10 BBs unless you division with a T8 they are fine. T8 CAs however meet T10 quite regularly, thus I'd say that repair consumable would be warranted for T8 CAs, probably with less charges.

That THIS went down the drain has long been proven by recent elections like the US President or the Brexit vote...

    CV as support class

And I've seen a Des Moines (!) above all eat a full strike while defensive fire was running (drop pattern was quite obvious) and lose more than 50% HP. That is not "will not be able to hurt you much". Of course that stupid CV lost all of his bombers and some of his fighters but it was still more than 50% HP lost on a dedicated AA ship.
  21. Adwaenyth

    CV as support class

Except that this statement is absolutely wrong. The top 5 are: Conqueror T10 BB 106k average Hakuryu T10 CV 106k average Midway T10 CV 96k average Yamato T10 BB 89k average Taiho T9 CV 86k average That makes 3 CV in the Top 5 - and there are only 2 T10 CV... so even a T9 CV is better at dealing damage than most T10 ships and the only ship that is on par with a T10 CV is the british BBQ Conqueror damage wise. The problem with CVs is that there is no reasonable sound counter play except team work - which you have to admit is somewhat lacking in random. Any other ship you can evade, but you can't evade an airstrike. Unless you've got a Des Moines with you, your chances of avoiding most of the damage are next to non existant. If you switch to Kills / Death then the statistics actually shows the problem. CVs lead here unanimously. THAT is the apparent problem. There is no counter play to a CV other than another CV for the average solo player - and that is what makes it different from any other ship in the game.

    CV as support class

As I said, adjusting the planes' damage values would be necessary, not only in what they deal but also what they can take... for BOTH ships. Just get rid of these strike setups and have at least 50% fighters so that every CV is somewhat forced to deal with his counterpart. The problem with CVs is that they have a too great influence on the game when left unchecked by the enemy CV. So the obvious solution would be, force them to check each other while lessening the damage on single targets. They still provide more utility by the increased amount of spotting done.
  23. Adwaenyth

    CV as support class

The high tier carriers are still very strike heavy. A Midway has 2-2-2 setup which amounts to 14 F, 14 DB, 12 TB (65% strike craft). Hakuryu (usually) has 2-3-3 setup or 10 F, 15 DB, 12 TB (73% strike craft). Considering the durability of the T10 strike craft, a T10 CV can strike out any single ship and still deal a lot of damage even to a group of ships - although he might have to sacrifice some planes. Incidentally the Hakuryu's AS setup 4-2-2 has 20 F, 10 DB, 8 TB (47% strike craft). If you limit the Hakuryu to AS setup and change the Midway to 3-2-1 which equals 21F, 14 DB, 6 TB (49% strike craft) you would almost equalize the setups, force CVs to focus on dealing with each other while at the same time limiting their strike potential from devastating strikes to average ones and bring CVs more into the spot of spotting / area denial gameplay. Adjusting the planes' damage values would be necessary, but it would stop the "all strike" setups from being what a T10 arty hit meant in WoT.

    MAJOR BUG FOUND!!!!!

Well with a 30ish WR and 16k average damage in a Fletcher I'm not really surpised how he got lost... But his main problem starts with blaming teams after seeing the results screen and not asking himself, what he could do different. After all, the only constant of every team he gets is himself.

    A solution to passive/poor gameplay?

That alone makes me think to pick radio location on almost any captain I have...
