If the ramming were to be realistic, i'm pretty sure the ships would write each other off, and cripple a crap ton of systems. I agree that it needs to be directional, but I can't say that I've spent much time being rammed or ramming myself (excluding team-mates), and this is what the test is all about.
I think that the implemented damage for team collisions works well. The longer you stay stuck, the more damage you take, thereby encouraging you to either not do it, or extricate yourself from the friendly ship quickly. If the friendlyn damage were to be as high (as suggested)
If friendly rams were as damaging, we would see no end of trolls just writing off ships at the start of the game. Same reason torps aren't loaded at the start.
I'd also like maybe some island collision damage, so if you force someone into an island by avoiding your fire or torps then they at least hurt themselves, but i'm sure that i'd be losing lots of health then :p
I'm fairly happy with the way it is now, but I can tell we're going to get plenty of ramming vids on YouTube, and that the devs are going to be implementing something soon, hopefully before the OBT, or at the latest before release. But also remember how long it took WoT to develop to the point is currently is, even in the released version
