Which Stats are Indicative of a Good Player?
Pukovnik7 replied to DaBung's topic in General Discussion
Solo winrate after a large number of matches (1000 or up). Everything else literally doesn't matter: Damage doesn't matter because there are many other important factors. Killing destroyers helps your team more than farming battleships, and if you are playing a destroyer, it is in fact possible to do a fair bit of carrying without doing any damage whatsoever - just through capping, spotting, smoking up friendlies and so on. Been there, done that. Destroyed warships, see above. Personal rating is a bit more indicative but it is heavily based on damage so... see above. And so on and so forth. In the end, only the win rate over large number of battles matters. And even then you should look at which ships player has played, as some ships are good, some garbage, and some anything in between. -
Just to make sure we are on the same page, this is what I am talking about: So as I said: time display of the shell travel time is there. If for some reason you don't have it, go to settings > controls, and then in option "Alternative interface mode" choose "Full" from drop-down menu. Alternatively, you can press Alt key to bring it up.

I am counting CoOp, Random, Arms Race, Operations, Ranked, Clan Battle and Brawl as separate game modes. That is seven in total. And honestly, if it weren't for Operations, I'm not sure I would be playing this game any more. CoOp, Random and Ranked are simply not enough. Especially since Random and Ranked are basically the same damn mode, just with different team sizes. Oh, that is certainly true. Still, if you have good maps, you can still have very fun and diverse experience despite simple core mechanics. Brawling battleships and gunboat destroyers are the classes I find most interesting, but there is still enough diversity in the game to be really fun. Problem is, WarGaming is waging war against diversity: maps with limited cover, powerful HE, carriers, and now submarines, these all significantly limit tactical options and promote stale, repeating gameplay. Actually, you don't need to remember anything. There is an option in User Interface which allows you to see exactly how long shell will take to travel to the aim point. From then, it is just a question of estimating where the enemy ship will be in that time. And this is not even a mod - option is present in the base game. In fact, I don't use any mods at all and it took me a minute to find it.

Konigsberg and Nurnberg.

We already have separation, depending on the time, into four to seven different game modes. And this way, you will not have people leaving because CVs and subs turned what should be a fun match into a full-on "I-must-not-tear-my-hair-out" mode. It was better for a carrier player, I think. Main reason I don't play carriers isn't any sense of ethics (well, OK, it is partly that - I'm not a sadist), but primarily because they are friggin' boring. Literally only reason to play them is to a) pad one's own stats or b) seal club (a.k.a. habituary sadism). It is well within mechanics of the game. That, however, is irrelevant. What it matters is how it impacts the game itself. Funny, because my response to all the frustration was to stop spending. I wanted to buy Pommern, Prinz Eugen, Le Terrible, Duke of York, Hood, Strasbourg, Sims, Warspite, Leone, Perth, Exeter, Mikasa, Smith and Karl von Schonberg. But thanks to idiotic game design, specifically introduction of submarines, I decided that I will get those ships for coal, or for nothing. I definitely won't be paying for them, and I'll probably let my premium time expire as well. Probably LOL. As for CVs, thing is that game is supposed to be fun. A game with a CV in it is quite the opposite. Yes, I am aware how important CVs were, historically - but historically, how many battleships were destroyed by secondary gun fire? This is a game, it is supposed to be fun, not realistic. Yeah, when I start, I kinda don't know how to stop...

For me, I actually knew I would like most ships I do like. For example, EU and British DDs, I like playing cap contesters so both lines were obviously nice. I am still on fence regarding German CLs and DDs and UK CLs, but if I do end up liking them, then yeah they would fit this category.

Wow, sounds awesome. Yup, definitely my next battleship line.
-
What did you like the most? That is the next battleship line I am considering, after I grind through European destroyers.

Just video itself. Yes, it isn't up to date; but thing is that submarines have some fundamental issues which stem from their nature and I am not convinced these can be solved.

I don't know if this had been posted before: A good submarine captain is the death of the game | World of warships - YouTube

Because they are fast, not constrained by terrain, and can come from literally anywhere? They don't autospot, but they are still by far the best spotters in the game. And thus ruin the game for everybody else.
-
This is a PvP game though, COOP is literally training mode. What you wrote is not a bug, it is a way to make sure people play Randoms. Anyway, if you want to play COOP and earn credits, why not play Operations? They are much more fun than COOP anyway, and you do make money with them. A lot of money - I play Operations when I need silver for ships.
-
Because it would make a lot more calculations necessary, so how would game run in such conditions? And then everybody camps in the back of the map... island camping is not a big problem, spawn camping is. Tier 7 ship simply cannot get into a Tier 10 match, unless you faildiv, as noted before.

Gneisenau. A battleship-cruiser-destroyer with a turtleback? SOLD.
-
Yeah, that is a regular occurence. One game I remember really stood out for me because... well, it was obvious to anyone but that guy that he was going to die. He was in a cruiser, and sailed into the cap - and even beyond it. In fact, he overtook me (I was playing a destroyer), passed through the cap... broadside to a destroyer, a cruiser and I think one or two battleships? I told him to go back, that he is going to die... he told me that I am an idiot and to should shut up. Predictably, he died. Next thing he did? He started complaining in chat about how we are morons, incompetents, how we did not support him and he, the poor soul, died due to our incompetence... Well, hell. I mean, I am far from most patient player, and I am somewhat given to rushing a cap in a destroyer and even in a battleship... but I bloody take responsibility for it, and I do feel like I have gotten better in avoiding sticky situations when doing so. But some people just have Marianas Trench sized egos which make them allergic to even the thought of learning, because that would mean admitting to being wrong, and they can never be wrong... nevermind that he just yoloed into a cap in a cruiser, gave broadside to two battleships and a destroyer, and ate three citadels and half a dozen torpedoes. No, he did nothing wrong, nothing to see there, moving on to blaming the team and CAPS LOCK-ing in the chat.

OK, so I found this: The Regia Marina in WW2 - The Under-appreciated Navy (w. Vincent O'Hara) - YouTube What would be good English sources on Italian navy in World War 2? Unfortunately, I do not know Italian, so...

Few times, and the only thing different for me was the lack of "stick close to DD to avoid being stealth-torpedoed" mandate.

Why not remove the wave effect? You could easily have static waves without losing anything on graphics quality.

Ground Operations for credits, and, well... goal achieved: Going for Richelieu next... after that? I don't know. Maybe Le Fantasque, Vittorio Veneto, Cleveland, Baltimore, Mahan... I really don't know. -
What graphics settings are you using in WoWs and your graphics card?
Pukovnik7 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I have everything on ultra low except the resolution, though I suspect the problem might be in net connection and not my laptop. Still, the game was better before the last update. And I liked the original graphics the most to be honest. Right now, it is just... overdone.
