Can anyone explain the latest LWM/Huron drama?

TL;DR LWM is malding for the sake of malding

    Hornet: Why I despise Discord.

Idk man I would take the opinion of a 60+% WR player as credible, unlike one of a 48%er...

O dear god they buffed the Dutch airstrike

Because they are very unfun to interact with? CVs are indeed, on average, overpowered, but that's not why most people seem to complain about them. Nor are all ships equipped with planes overperforming, or even average. Like I mentioned before, RN CVs are pretty meh across the board. Their damage is simply not good or impactful enough to make them impact the game more than most other ships in their respective tiers. Maybe you would be able to see why they (and Ise, while I'm at it) are underperforming if you were actually good at the game.

So any plane spotting and damage equals good game impact? And what makes you right, and me wrong? You keep saying I'm wrong while providing barely any proof or good reasoning, not to mention there is no credibility behind your name.

There's no guarantee even super unicums can have pepega opinions. PQ is widely known to be heavily biased towards BBs. Since you brought him up, Carlito is, to my knowledge, fine. Exactly what I said. Having planes does not make ships high impact by definition. Cases in point: the entire RN CV branch, Ise, GZ, Parseval, MvR. Lemme guess, because you say so?

O dear god they buffed the Dutch airstrike

Incorrect, airstrike planes can not spot ships, which was also specifically stated in the Dutch cruiser announcement devblog. Again wrong, Tone planes are faster and have correspondingly lower HP, so in essence they are better than the ones on Ise.

Then you haven't exposed yourself to enough unicums. Game impact is a ship's peak consistent ability to win games by any means she provides her captain with. There are debatable opinions, and then there are wrong opinions. Unless there is evidence supporting it, at which point it is no longer an opinion. Sadly WG doesn't share statistics on how ships perform when played by unicums or better, so state of balance remains a matter of opinion. I'm not a Know-It-All even though I come off as one, but I am about to graduate from medical school so I'm pretty sure I have a much better understanding of it than you do.

Both of them were in positions where they would have been grinded down to death by concentrated focus fire at those particular stages of the game. The airstrike just made sure they were disposed of quicker. As of right now, the damage is much lower and you have 15 seconds to react to the airstrike from the moment the planes show up, provided you didn't mess up already by making yourself either stationary or very predictable. If you're a cruiser or even a DD and don't react appropriately, you deserve to take damage. They are also not immune to flak, it's just that they spawn at 4 km away from the target area so there is not enough time for the ship being struck to deploy flak. On the other hand, if there is a ship at least 3.5 km away from the airstrike's target, those planes eat flak and evaporate.

And even that doesn't mandate picking a ship equipped with planes, as evidenced by the current Typhoon and Hurricane meta where double BB lineups are just as, if not even more prevalent than CV lineups. All it took was banning Hakuryu and FDR. I have very low confidence that WG balance team will be able to balance this ship properly given their track record. If they were competent, they would take some messages from having to ban certain ships from CB and others being voted out of KotS, but alas. You mean videos where players made themselves easily striekable and got punished accordingly? It was not okay to have that kind of alpha strike in the game, but the players that lost that much HP were literally asking for it. If experts on the matter pretty much unanimously agree on something, doesn't that make highly diverging opinions from unqualified people wrong? Same applies to Ise, unicums or better players who have played her pretty much unanimously agree that she hot garbage. Her planes are slow as [edited]and do fuckall damage, and she has Kongo levels of gunpower which she can't use half the time because of her horrendous turret firing arcs. Her game impact is incredibly low compared to any T6. Trying to reason with pepegas jumping on the outrage train for a single feature equals justifying every dumb thing WG does. Nice generalisation buddy. (Yes, I also made a generalisation in my previous post, and apparently the bait worked) And since you brought that up, I invite you to join the official WoWs discord and look up my message history. You will find me shitting on their balancing on an almost daily basis ;) Not much of the definition and criteria has stuck with you then, did it? I suggest you go look it up in more detail. It is most certainly confirmation bias.

O dear god they buffed the Dutch airstrike

Pretty much nobody can know what state of balance she is in right now, what state of balance she will end up in and how competitive she will be. The ship could end up being as underpowered as Ise. Having planes doesn't equal being a competitive must-pick. But of course, any mention of planes appears to make this community riot.
  11. Yurra

O dear god they buffed the Dutch airstrike

Your analogy is completely off. Try again. Implying there's anything to defend. Man, what a nice community this is, where not shitting on WG's every move equals defending them Those sweet rubles just keep pouring in I see you're an internet doctor too The ship is not even released yet and you're talking as if she is... Ding dong your opinion is wrong
  12. Yurra

O dear god they buffed the Dutch airstrike

Completely missed the point. It's about ppl acting all smart about things they have an incomplete understanding of. Also known as the Dunning-Kruger effect, and you're a perfect example of it.

O dear god they buffed the Dutch airstrike

I did not say or imply that at any point in this thread, so don't put words in my mouth. The specimen in question is delusional because they somehow concluded I'm a WG employee based on me dissing TopTier as a person with high bias towards CVs and unqualified opinions. You're still not qualified enough to comment on their power because you haven't played the ships yourself, and as such you can't possibly comprehend the full extent of their strengths and limitations. You also need to be a good player to have a qualified enough opinion, which you are most likely not considering you felt the need to hide your stats. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  14. Yurra

O dear god they buffed the Dutch airstrike

Are you sure you're not confusing bias with simply not being perfectly aligned with your opinion? You can thank the based KotS discord fellas for that, they're pretty good at finding clown threads like this one. Why yes, WG is depositing rubles into my account as we speak
  15. Yurra

O dear god they buffed the Dutch airstrike

I see you're still as delusional as I remember you. Besides, would I not have a WG tag in my forum card if I were an employee? What makes you right and me wrong, especially when you have never played these ships yourself? What even makes your completely unqualified opinion factual? Apparently trying to be reasonable and avoiding jumping on every outrage train is shilling for WG. The specimens above apparently do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Nerf Stalingrad and petro

Petro's dominance is mostly down to her concealment. The stealth radar ability makes spotting Petros costly for DDs in terms of HP, and not even Smaland with her 4 heals can sustain spotting Petros for the whole game, as well as doing the usual DD roles. The concealment also allows her to push into forward positions (especially on maps like LoF and Loop) she can hardly be dislodged from thanks to her tanking. Her crossfire potential is pretty poor though because her accuracy is very poor past 14 km. If her concealment were in the range of 12.6-13 km she would most likely be nowhere near as dominant in competitive, being just another viable ship pick, but it would very likely push her state of balance from meh down to borderline underpowered. A single instance proves nothing.

Not only are you delusional, but you also can't read. So I will repeat it for you: Ohio has been released for way longer than 6 months. I'm not defending anyone, I'm just stating the facts.

    Nerf Stalingrad and petro

You haven't even read the ruleset, have you? They state specifically: ships that are considered not widely available are forbidden. Puerto Rico is not available for purchase at the moment, Smolensk is not availble either, and Slava is a special case because she's available for Research Points. All RP ships are not considered widely available until 6 months post-release because of the difficulty of obtaining RP. CVs are not part of KotS because the overwhelming majority with a representative sample size voted against CVs in KotS not because they are OP, but because they ruin the fun of competitive and because they reduce variety in ship picks. They were already tried once in their reworked version, and needless to say most players hated having them around. @_Ghostship_ I see you aren't very familiar with how statistics work, so let me explain. wows-numbers.com doesn't take ship distribution into account, and only shows the average values of the entire data sample. Given how Stalingrad is a ship gated by an end-game currency, her average population is naturally going to be composed mostly of above average and good players, which is why her average will look better than that of other cruisers. Compare her to other steel ships if you don't believe me. Petropavlovsk is also a recent release, and also has skewed distribution simply because good players will get to her before an equal amount of bad players do because such players will grind her faster due to higher XP income due to playing better, and they also have larger stockpiles of free XP. This has happened with every single newly released ship, ever, and it takes approximately 6 months for the wows-numbers stats to stabilise. If you want to see how ships truly perform, you need to plot their winrate against the winrate of players playing them. If ~65% WR players have ~65% WR on the given ship, that ship is by definition balanced. If they have significantly better WR, the ship is OP, if they have significantly worse WR, the ship is UP. Unfortunately, only WG has access to this kind of data. You can look for Sub_Octavian's replies on the WoWs subreddit where he gives a good example of such charts.

@Pikkozoikum High level competitive is good for identifying issues with ships, but I already explained why ship competitiveness in the given format should not be taken as a measure of their absolute state of balance.
  22. Yurra

    Nerf Stalingrad and petro

That is true for games where the competitive environment is the same as the casual environment. In WoWs, this would require competitive to be 12 v 12 and have 4-5 BB and 4 DD limitations.
  23. Yurra

    Nerf Stalingrad and petro

I am not saying that. In fact, I agree that both are staples for competitive. But you must not mistake state of balance for competitiveness. You simply can't speak of state of balance in the context of competitive play, and vice versa, because 1) the organised nature of competitive potentiates some ships or their characteristics (such as Petro's combination of concealment and durability, despite her being a bit underwhelming in randoms) 2) the format including few BBs makes some ships exponentially more powerful (such as Stalingrad), and some others much weaker relative to randoms (Thunderer, Bourgogne). There's also the state of meta making some ships' qualities more pronounced. You also can't speak about bias in this context because 1) WG doesn't balance for competitive play 2) WG sucks at balancing, as exemplified with multiple balance changes over the course of the game's lifetime that completely missed the issues with some ships (for example Venezia), swung ships' state of balance to the opposite extreme (for example Yueyang), or by releasing ships in an absurdly imbalanced state despite multiple rounds of testing (Thunderer, Kremlin, Ohio, Bourgogne, Smaland, Kleber, MvR, to name a few recent releases)
