What I'm noticing here is the abstract level of discussion. How about we make a list of things we want from bots? What should a bot's priorities be? What intel should bots have access to? How about RPF on top of scouted players? Should there be default bot behaviour in the absence of intel of players? How should they prioritize targets? What type of ammo should they load? Should they pre-emptively dodge torps that may or may not have been fired yet, due to being within potential torp range and having seen a specific ship angle? How well should they maneouvre in the face of obstructions? When should a bot consider ramming? (HP treshold + distance?) What captain skills should bots have? Etc. Let's get more specific people. "Make bots harder" is too interpretable.

Not "Ni", "nee". Sounds like "Nay" in Brit-lingo. -

Probably going to get it since I'm not really interested in the Groningen. We'll see how good it'll be later. -

As far as I'm aware the amount of 'free' tokens (including purchased with community tokens and promotional) does not exceed 360 or so at this point. At 1000 gold per 10 tokens and community tokens not being as widely available as the purchaseable community token stuff suggests, most people interested in attaining it during early access and unaware of any free claims would have to spend about 10.000-13.000 gold to get the Haarlem. Given a lot of actual premium ships cost far less, this does not seem worth it and I would strongly recommend against participating in it.
-
Do tell where it says where and how many tokens you can claim from news articles and Amazon Prime.
-
No, that's called maths. I'm talking about information on where tokens are possible to collect not being shared in the Arsenal, nor next to missions. You adress this with a strawman answer, which means it isn't an answer at all (not that you seem to care). Spreading this information and having to personally add up token counts on both ends (missions + scavenger hunt for the gains) and in the chain in the Arsenal (expenditure) and compare is one of the ways WG obfuscates what is actually attainable for free btw. Meanwhile, you're here white knighting because you're unwilling to concede points as usual. :/ And yes, there was a blog article on it (which both isn't clear to many people, doesn't reach all people and finally, isn't complete in detailing how many tokens can be earned free).
-
Can you read? :/
-
Yeah, Italian smokescreens are a double edged sword. While in smoke, having a spotter aircraft up is useful, of course.
-
Most people do not follow (dev) blogs and news but rely on the information provided in game (thus in the Arsenal). This information is not explicitly listed or linked to there afaik. A number of tokens have to be obtained by scavenger hunting through blogs and press buttons to make claims for them, or even get Amazon Prime (free 10pt captain is nice though). These things aren't particularly well documented in game IMO. Probably deliberately to get just a few more sales of lootboxes out.
-
Again, you miss the point. :/ The game suggests (it doesn't state so explicitly) you can get something for free, only to find out that you can't because you won't be able to acquire sufficient tokens, where you will have to enter into an expensive lootbox lottery to obtain those tokens. It's the baiting type marketing that exploits psychological weaknesses in humans and combining it with what is basically gambling that is the scam. So where you're technically correct, you ignore the methodology and exploitation. You and I may not fall for it, but plenty of others (including those who can't really afford it), might. especially since WG also doesn't make explicit to what tier people do not need to spend money, trying to get people invested into a product some may feel so invested in, they feel the need to buy tokens to finish the missions. And of course, one doesn't have to. One also doesn't have to sign up for Trump university.
-
Yes...? His point is that the missions do not provide you sufficient tokens to finish the Arsenal chained event (you know, where you spend the tokens you earned with missions), without spending a lot of additional money on it. One of the awful scammy things IMO is that the event chain requires you to purchase stuff with tokens or money you may not want in order to get to the stuff that you do want. WG: "Here's what you have to purchase: perma camo X, random camos Z and flags Y and maybe if you're lucky you'll get a ship, but it's only time limited available Get it now! (*hushed tone* ...Before it all becomes free...) and beat the crowd! Spend money where others wouldn't and shouldn't for otherwise free in-game content!"
-
The scam is in the scarcity/exclusivity marketing ploy that tries to abuse some collector and gambling instincts. The only way to complete the missions (which are presented as if you can get it in game for free) is to purchase the loot containers, which are quite expensive for their contents. There's a huge gap between asking price and actual value. Particularly because indeed, eventually they'll be available for silver currency. Sure you can argue that it's a choice to partake or not, but it's the way one uses incentives and frames it as easily obtainable through missions that makes it rather sketchy and exploitative. Some people do not have the mental capacity (not just lacking fiscal discipline, could be an addiction or disorder) or lack insight (too young to understand the value of money with a linked creditcard or paypal of mommy/daddy to the account) to say no to such schemes. IMO the marketing methods and price / value as used by WG for often consumable DLCs like flags, tokens and temporary camos are quite unethical and that's before looking at the extreme pricing of ships.

WoWs Interaction with Support ( is this typical ? )
Figment replied to Aleksandra_Samusenko_1st's topic in General Discussion
Since I've won all my coop battles ever, I've never encountered this rule. This is news to me certainly. The one time I died being the only player in the entire coop since start and a bot had to finish up for me it luckily won since I had already damaged the last enemy ship severely, but that was pre-0.10.4. So with this rule, is it an automatic loss when the last player is killed, or are the points at that point used to determine the victor and can the player team be the winner at that point? Does manually exiting the match, or crashing to desktop count as being killed or "having left the match"? If so, that sounds like a rather exploitable rule. Points ahead by cap, you're low on hp and your bots are losing the fights, exit the game (die or ram) to ensure victory? -
And the AA and torp dodging capacity isn't something to write home about either. It's a lot easier to steer a Vermont through a 20 torp spread despite its width and low speed than it is to steer any Italian BB period. And you have to steer since the guns are so slow to rotate. That makes ranked a lot more suited for this stuff as well, since you'll face far fewer CVs and again, you can more easily control the engagement situations.
-
Yeah. Pretty underwhelming. Caraciollo has been amazing for me in Ranked (64% WR), mostly because you can control engagement range much better in Ranked and same tier brawling it's just excellent, particularly against German ships which are often overused in Brawl setups. Only Sinop (80% WR) did better at T7 Ranked for me. In randoms, like with several Russian ships, it's been frustrating to try and get close enough to even fire at enemies, while most your allies leave you alone because even most cruisers out range you or have better angles to fire over islands (the flat trajectory is great, when you can engage, horrible if targeted with HE spam from cover). That leaves you extremely vulnerable to DD attacks and HE spam from BBs and cruisers that outrange you. But that's not the biggest problem. The biggest issue is that you can only start contributing a few minutes into the game, which means your team plays with a man down for a while, where you might be the biggest gun on your team. Sometimes the damage taken cannot be compensated for anymore and your close range support declines even further.
-
Which is why I switch to AP whenever a target may present a broadside. However, most the time targets will face you with their noses or at any slight angle, where you'll do more damage with SAP than AP. So even if you have to fire SAP at a broadside and do say 16K instead of 30K (you can still citadel with SAP a lot on broadsides of cruisers with plunging fire through deck height), you'll have done more damage at other angles than you would have done with AP and sure, that one major strike may not happen as often (it still will occur regularly to have -50% off strikes on cruisers), you'll have easily compensated for that by spreading that damage over volleys your AP would have barely dented. Hell, there are situations where SAP can pen bows for citadels. (See SAP video by WoWs explaining cruiser SAP). I'm not sure what does more damage to DDs though. The Italian BB SAP seems inferior to the cruiser SAP in that regards.
-
Thing is, AP can't be used at an angle, but SAP can be used at unangled targets. Just need to aim for bow/rear or upper structure, rather than torpedo belt. Hence SAP is the prefered choice as it always has a target and you can always optimize your angling (recommended to not show even half broadside with an Italian BB unless they just fired so you can turn back in time to angle again).

A 6pt captain is 37.000CXP. 25% of that is 9.250CXP 900.000 silver purchasing + 10 silver / CXP earned during reset => 992.500 silver / reset (2.908.000CXP - 37.000) / 9250 ~ 311 (310.4 rounded up) 311 x 992.500 silver + 900.000 for new captain = 308.950.541 silver / 21pt captain starting at 6pt. Alternative with bought 6pt captains and resets with doubloons: (2.908.000 - 183.000) / 37.000 = 74 337 doubloons and 900.000 silver per reset for 100% CXP (37.000) = 24.938 doubloons and 66.600.000 silver Add 1.500 doubloons for a 10pt captain, makes 26.438 doubloons and 66.600.000 silver That's approximately €81 for the commander (25.000 gold) and €82 for 62.500.000 silver + some free gold and silver and you can buy your 21pt commander for roughly €163. Is this what one calls "go broke to win"? -
Aye, it's funny when you come across two fellow Italian BB in brawl and completely destroy both while they constantly bounce your bow time and again for minimal damage as they use AP far too much.
-
95% of the time I use SAP on my Italian ships. Unless there's a perfect broadside (in which case, just aim higher with SAP), there's little reason to use AP. What modules have you intalled on the Lepanto and what captain skills do you use?
-
The context is pretty clear. AFK =/= bot, thus if bot is used, it's the goto online gaming insult for players who let the team down by (willingly) not actively participating at all. EDIT: note he even said he encountered the same guy 3 matches later, clearly indicating he knows it's a person (and presumed male, but let's allow that one).

If you enjoy German BBs, then the French line is probably best suited for you. The quad turrets are fun. Typically poor at range in my experience though. But secondaries work much like the German ones and overall it's a bit faster, squishier ships than the Gerries, but all good fun. The 'Murican BBs are heavy, can brawl for massive damage, but their reload is really slow, so you need to time your shots well and not waste them on ricochets. They're best played 10-16km away from targets, or their lead becomes waaaay too long to be reliable with that dispersion. If you hit, you do so for massive damage. If you like to get into the thick of it, the British ships have excellent brawling AP and can sneak up to about 12km from their target for massive AP strikes at cruiser ranges. They're very squishy too though, so be sure to go back into hiding. Work very well against upper structures, including German ships. And if all else fails, burn it down from a distance. The Italian ships are okay brawlers, I recommend nothing but SAP unless the target is full broadside. Aim for the upper structure next to the turrets for a minimum of 5K damage per salvo frontally, but up to 20+K on sides of cruisers per salvo. Just don't aim for torpedo belts with SAP.

Yes, he did. This phenomenon is called "giving people an insulting nickname to air frustration". ;) Nothing goes over your head, you would catch it with your sharp reflexes. Note, no frustration literally took to the skies in this message.

Recommendations for Agir Builds, Secondaries or not?
Figment replied to DaBung's topic in General Discussion
Yes, but chances of it missing are greater on the Kansas and you hit hard anyway. You’re better off with stuff that gives you time to reload and survive than more damage which would likely be overkill anyway.
