And why please? Hydro cant do sh1t vs your gun advantage if you stay at sufficient range.
-
Why are you so keen to rush a LoYang on her terms? Do you always pick your battles uphill with one arm tied behind your back? Do a gunnery duel at 5 to 6 km and show him that 20% more firepower > hydro.
-
Caps dont win games. Kills do. LoYang can't do anything Benson can also do, as long as you do not fight on her terms. Benson also got one gun advantage if I am not mistaken. Dont camp in your smoke, dont attack her smoke and you are good.

First thing is, all T8 cruisers should have access to heal. Period. If you have to play with the "big guys" then you should also have the tools like the big guys. Atago / Takao work just fine. Though this will not make cruisers available in abundance immediately it simply would be a step in the right direction, i.e. making T8 cruisers more viable in high tier games.

The thing is, that this mission - even while repeatable - provides free XP only, but I guess most people would favour a one time 100% regular XP over that, simply for accelerated captain training and tech tree/modules advancement while doing your daily wins.

Recommended Tier 6 and 8 Premiums?
Ubertron_X replied to PhoenixFire18's topic in General Discussion
T9: Missouri BB for credits (while still available) T8: Atago CA (great allrounder, with good stealth, alpha volleys, torps and heal); Alabama BB, Tirpitz BB (only if you know what you are doing) T7: Leningrad DD (need for speed); Scharnhorst BB (solid ship) T6: Gallant DD T6 is the hardest tier to make a recommendation for actually because you can either chose in between a couple slow but tough BB's or a lot of brittle CA's. Please note that almost every ship has a drawback of some kind, for example the Atago is missing gun range and reload, the Tirpitz has low AA, the Leningrd is somewhat odd because it requires a specific set of skills and the Gallant is the only British DD so far. So ask yourself what type of ships you like, which tier you play most, what kind of a captain's trainer you need (which nation) and how much money you want to spend (T8 and T9 are more expensive but will also print more credits). -
I concur. Just don't get overconfident tm when spending time with your family tm .

8800 battles, 47 detonations, 0.52% = once every 200 games = not bothering me. (however I have to admit that I am no DD main)

A solution to passive/poor gameplay?
Ubertron_X replied to SovietFury43's topic in General Discussion
Step 1: Rework the XP system to promote active play. @Cime has provided some excellent suggestions which way to go. Step 2: Award the winning bonus to the 12 players with the most base xp, no matter which team and outcome. Though probably not even close to the ideal solution (I will leave it to you guys to point out the probably 1001 drawbacks) only players that fought hard and contributed to the team effort should be rewarded, not the ones that were hard carried or even dragged their team down. -
Combining the division interface with the chat servers was the worst idea ever. Chat server down = all divisions are fracked up because division leader can no longer ready himself. Who comes up with such glorious ideas?

Give me back my old port view please
Ubertron_X replied to xxNihilanxx's topic in General Discussion
For my PC/monitor the new camera will always try to "fit" the ship to the screen as big as possible. This means a Kamikaze will almost fit the full screen and a Yamato will also fit the full screen. Personally I second the notion to start fully zoomed out and having to scroll in for details (this way I can also better enjoy the harbour) instead of starting fully zoomed in and having to zoom out. -
The thing about radar is that many ships can become DD no-go zones, especially when their detection range is lower than their radar range. And because we have received the Situational Awareness skill for free you do not only have the button, you also know exactly when to use it. No more high risk, high reward, no more surprise torps for Mr. John Doe CA. Combine this with the fact that radar also penetrates solid matter this is a little too n00b proof if you ask me. For example I really tried to put the Shimakaze's 7km torps to good use, but being no unicum player I found I was more or less useless in way too many of my battles (either by doing no damage or dying too fast). Because of radar - and the odd CV - I mostly use the 12km torps now. Note that if the opposition permits I will still go to 7km or less before launch, however very often I am required to drop my torps from 9km to 12km in order to avoid insta death by radar/CV spot and the subsequent focus fire. I am however not for the abolishment of radar, but it should be reworked and at least the X-ray qualities should be removed.

Better and fairer islands for C! Unsure about the changes to B. On the one hand ships will no longer vanish and be useless behind the big isles for 2 minutes, on the other hand this also means that pushes for B are much harder to do because you can still get flanked even if you managed to push the enemy out of C or A. And no changes to A? Like the D cap on North, the A cap on Trap is one of the mystic Bermuda triangles of WoWs. Ships large and small go there only to be never heard of again...

Dear Bismarck and Tirpitz players (Ranked)
Ubertron_X replied to ClappingLollies's topic in General Discussion
Live footage of me in my Tirpitz approaching an enemy battleship in ranked: I think most fellow Bismarck and Tirpitz players can relate. -
My best take was: 1. Take a (low tier) battleship that is either featuring many guns or high accuracy or is British. 2. Load HE. 3. Shoot DD's as much as possible (low visibility helps). How I actually solved it (using Lion): 1. Near HE miss on an Atlanta with 0 actual damage (!) but 3 broken modules (!!), one of which apparently was one of the side turrets. 2. Using AP and aim I disabled the rear turret of an enemy Missouri 2 times in a row at approx. 6km while he was fighting sombody else and the turret was turned sideways.

The thing is, I can not recommend Akizuki over Harekaze (or vice versa) as I suck in the former and don't have the later, so any advise would be heavily biased. Perhaps another forumite can better answer that question.

Duca D'Aosta is still a CA so it is per definition kind of quishy, however I would not call her overly squishy. Get a speed flag for 38.3kt max speed and IFA on your captain and you can speed/evade tank rather nicely because the ship is slim, has a good rudder shift and given the high speed still what I would call a tight turning circle. It has a nice concealment of only 10.3km (with CE skill) and some nice 12km area denial torps with a decent reload (71sec), so if need be you can play as a make-shift DD. What it has not: Gun range (only 14km without spotter plane - which the ship has access to - so you will be quite literally living on the edge very often), DPM (only 8 guns on 7.5sec reload), AA (though it can mount both the hydro and AA consumable simultaneously) and hit points (29700 only). All in all I find the Duca quity fun to play (for a low level cruiser that is).

The real question is, how high in ranks do you want to go? If you just aim at rank 10 or lower then you will probably get away with any decent spec. If however you aim for the advanced leagues, or even rank 1, personally I do consider RPF a must-have.

It is the type of ship and their relative style of play. Loyang has a max concealment of ~6.0km, fast firing guns and the hydroaccoustic search consumable (pierces smoke and shows torpedoes early) which makes it perferctly suited to contest and win caps. There is only one (or two if you take into account HSF Harekaze) DD who can beat that concealment by a significant margin, which is Kagero (5.4km). In contrast Kiev has a max concealment of ~7.1km, i.e. it will be outspotted by any other DD by a large margin. And due to this high concealment Kiev is not very well suited to contest caps and therefore often has to relay on 2nd line HE spamming on visible targets (usually BB). This is not to say that Kiev can never contest caps or help friendly DD's contest caps, however influencing the battle in her it is simply more difficult than in other DD's.
-
There is, but without detailled damage data it is not easy to see. Take Kiev vs Loyang as an example: Kiev - 31k of repairable HE & fire damage on some random BB does not help anyone to win games. Loyang - 27k of damage on critical targets (mostly enemy DD) will win many games. At least that is how I read these values.

RDF/RPF/RL - Lets talk about it once again?
Ubertron_X replied to cro_pwr's topic in General Discussion
Every skill that provides a big deal of meta-information should be reviewed/removed and RL is one of the more critical ones for sure. If I had my way even the now built-in "Situational Awareness" skill should be questioned, as the meta-information provided is massive, especially when playing in a division or even bigger groups (ranked/clan wars). P.S.: As I mostly play random battles I run the skill on a few dedicated DD hunters only, as I simply do not want to telegraph my presence in the more stealth reliant vessels (if worst comes to worst the skill can even get you killed faster). However I do consider it mandatory for any form of organized play. -
