Its called power creep and can also be witnessed in other WG titles (well hello there excessive free brothers/sisters in arms tank crews). However unless you plan to play hardcore competitive only or to have special 19 skill point captains down to T2 I see no problem. Regarding battle history WoT already has this for their crews so one can still hope. Also: Nachi says hi!

Fall Cornucopia Camo, +5% Free XP, bug or feature?
Ubertron_X replied to PassTheSalt's topic in General Discussion
Be thankful... -
The only figure I am only vaguely interested in would be a counter for % damage dealt because it would be a measuring tool versus the total average damage. For example in a T10 game where a Harekaze farmed 150k of an enemy Kurfürst (~100%) wheras a Gearing might have cap contested and fought multiple enemy DDs for a total of only 50K (but 250%). Edith: % damage dealt is already used for XP and credit calculations, we just need it displayed in order to better gauge player effectiveness.

You mean mistakes like getting hit by 6 of 8 shells on 25.5km? Even if all those hits would have been overpens only I would have raged like hell in that Hinden...

Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
Ubertron_X replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
Looking at the graphs for ±1 MM you would either need to drain any excess ships by creating T11 and T12 matches OR by "repairing the player distribution" by quasi-forcing players back to T8, e.g. by making T10 economy literally unsustainable. As WG can't and won't do the later because of obvious reasons (all those prem ships above T8, T10 premium camo and WGs intention to actually have us play T10) the only way I can see this happening would be additional MM tiers. -

Why do people dislike T10 and choose lower tiers?
Ubertron_X replied to You_Overextended's topic in General Discussion
Short answer: Tier X meta shift. Much improved ships T8 => T10 (just look at BB HP), longer gun ranges, more guns (= more dps), bigger (sometimes open) maps, etc. etc. Apart from CW I rarely play T10 because I simply do not enjoy the meta (and rather did not play T10 in WoT because of a similar meta shift of similar magnitude). -
T8 cruisers have my vote. Play with the big boys, heal like the big boys.

CV reworks ??? where ??? still to OP !!!

Strawberry fields forever! -
If you go from 15km down to 13.5km you have reduced the spotting area by 20%.

CV spotting has just been nerved and will get even less once the CV craze is over. Having said so both FP and CE are excellent 4-skill choices for BB's and the order of picking them is usually down to personal preference. As @wilkatis_LV already mentioned I also still use it on all my "not-just-for-fun" BB builds as it is the outright best offensive and defensive skill.
-
Patience is key as many ships will have way less AA once the battle has been going on for some time, especially if blasted with HE by high caliber CA or BB. So restrain yourself from wasting planes early on but scout instead. The downside to this tactic is that because of domino effect early damage is the most decisive and late damage is kind of meh, i.e. you might trade damage for win rate.

No. Take a tier 6+ ship and do missions in CooP (like secondary battery hits or else).

Jep, that was Sarkasm. For example I missed the special anime Hipper captain because it was "hidden" in an otherwise obscure "what's up in month xxx" article...

So WG promised to close the skill gap and apparently they delivered.

Quoted for truth. There is the somewhat half-valid argument of not all players wanting all content (think historic accuracy nerds vs loli lovers) however I think this is just WG's way of farming more clicks for their news articles...

Dude, do you not read dem articles on the front page? Duh...

Please read and/or quote my entire post. The current fighter iteration is indeed useless, so no need to argue about what they currently can or can't do. 1) Yes you currently have plenty of time to get a strike in, that is why AI behavior and reaction speed needs to change => buff fighters 1.1) For example the fighters could stop doing their stupid full size circles and immediately move to the quadrant CV planes are spotted in and do very thight circles there. 1.2.) Fighter control could be surrendered to the ship they are protecting, i.e. the ship that has fighters assigned can designate priority targets as per the old AA procedures. So if multiple CVs attack one and the same fighter protected ship the fighters can not be baited by the first target. 2) In my suggestion fighters move with the ship, i.e. ships can not outrun the fighters anymore and will be protected for the full duration => buff fighters 2.1) Should be self explanatory. Dropping fighters on an area is nonesense and needs to change. If fighters are to stay they need to move with the ship, be it a 21kt BB or a 47kt DD. 3) Your own fighters will not be able to lock down the enemy fighters as easy anymore if you don't have a friendly ship very near the target => buff fighters 3.1.) Important change! To avoid the current and stupid fighter lockdown I propose that fighters can only be dropped on friendly ships. So a battle in between fighters can only happen if enemy ships are very close to each other, e.g. in a DD battle where both sides drop fighters on their friendly DD. If you want to strike a remote target instead your own fighters will not be able to help. This will reduce both the spotting capabilities of fighters as well as promote them as a defensive teamwork tool.
-
Guarding friendly ships is not all about actually killing the enemy planes but also about detering them from attacking for a given period of time. Remember that one ship that is holding an entire flank by skillfully kiting half the enemy team? Drop some fighter cover on it and let the enemy CV decide to do a possibly costly strike now or to wait until your fighters return. Your own DD is capping and no enemy ship is anywhere near that cap? Drop some fighter cover on it and let the enemy CV decide to do a possibly costly strike now or to wait until your fighters return. etc. In a game that is mostly about teamwork CV's should be about teamwork too. However this can ONLY happen if the fighter cover they can provide is actually useful and/or perceived as useful. If CV's stay all about striking they will be loathed as much as before. Therefore I still think my line of reasoning makes sense, i.e. fighters with reasonably response time and AI behavior that can only be dropped on friendly ships and move with the ship for a definite amount of time.
-
Fighters need to be changed to guard friendly ships (and friendly ships only) not sea areas. If you could not drop them in random (or not so random) places they would neither be too good a spotter nor be useless in their main job which by all means should be fending of enemy attack planes. Make them stick to a friendly ship for their duration = many problems solved.

Just curious - How many of you are aware that planes no longer spot torpedoes in WoWs v0.8.x?
Ubertron_X replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
It totally is! I am still somewhat annoyed that WG is "hiding" content in news articles. Looking at you "Press here to participate" buttons...
