Sorry no, I don't want 1 hour slugfests like in LoL, where I can play a max of 2 to 3 games an evening. And while the approx. 7min of a typical WoT battle is a tad too fast, I find the max. 20min in WoWs perfectly fine.

French Destroyers Event: the Full Guide
Ubertron_X replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
And considering the new ships, I really despise DDs that they are not DDs. Those ships have no role (apart of being CAs without citatadels). Zipping around and doing damage can be achieved in any other ship, which is one of the reasons why carriers are hated by the way. When in command of a BB or CA I don't need someone to deal damage for me. I need someone to fill a role I can't, usually scout. Stealth has always been a critical element in gaming as it is either too strong or too weak (usually the former). And while I appreciate WG's efforts to create a new playstyle, stealthless DDs is just further dumbing down the game to a more point & click style of gameplay. I can already imagine my inner outcry when the enemy team has a US or IJN top tier DD while our team has a French one. -
French Destroyers Event: the Full Guide
Ubertron_X replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
We once were satisfied to have a x3 XP weekend in WoT once in a while... And while I understand that WG is a company that needs to earn money and its holiday season, so new content may keep players interested and plying, the current constant stream and chaining of events is a total turn off. So for one of the few times during my years with WG titels I deliberately chose to entirely skip the DD event and to fully ignore the fuel token grind. -
How about 3. Spite? When talking about the rewards of the game you simply can't ignore the phychological rewards / satisfaction for the losing player. For example, why should I grant the enemy team easily farmed damage and an additional kill even if I can get one or two additional (phychologically insignificant) salvos out? Why should I be forced to 'pay the bill' if my team was steamrolled elsewhere? No, if they want to kill me they have to find me and even if they find me I will make them work for their money. Been there, done that...

Russian game, so if you go for Russian ships (or tanks), you can never go wrong...

Please, real German BB's have 80mm deck armor and are immune even now...

Turning chat off, are you insane? How should I flame my team without chat? -
Don't worry, my comment wasn't aimed at you. Quite contrary I find it quite honourable that you are defending the OP, however please keep in mind that many threads like this are indeed not looking for advice, but have just been created to vent.

Why is "Manual Fire Control for Secondary Armament" like it is?
Ubertron_X replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
Yes, very lame. And even if it prevents botting and seal clubbing it also prevents developing alternative playstyles early on (e.g. I still remember secondaries Warspite). And if you are effectively prohibited from honing your skills early on any new player will never develop the skill set and match awareness to be a successful secondary BB captain later. All they ever learn is range is life, so stay back. -
Well I still have this crazy idea that if I kill enough planes with each attack run the CV will eventually run out of planes / choices, so my aim is to eliminate the CV squad, regardless if the one strikes comes through. Nonetheless thanks for the advice.

Just add 20km torp Kitakami to the premium shop...

Usually BFT for more DD vs DD fire power and of course to Def AA or not to Def AA (in the few DDs that can). Currently I am also thinking in a similar direction as @Verblonde, just for Cruisers (Def AA vs hydro).

It might be a conspiricy theory, ...but

Single or division? And no. -
Well, have you ever seen a french BB using speed boost and reverse gear? In general yes, however very much depending on ship type, type of engagement and actual situation within that battle. For example if I took a fish during a turn which exposes my broadside to an enemy BB and am now at risk of receiving a potentially devastating enemy salvo because of the loss of engine power I will of course insta rep the flood, whereas I would not at all think about putting out a (single) fire.

1. Go to one side. 2. Determine if your team has numerical, tier or spotting advantage on that side. 3. If your team does have advantage try to push as a team, if your team is at a disadvantage do a fighting retreat. If forces are equally matched join the shootout until some ships have been sunk and you can go back to step 2. 4. If your team won your side and the enemy is either sunk or in full retreat determine if you can push for the enemy cap or if you need to go back to defend your own cap. Simple as that. And yes, standard battles are usually not the small scale engagements we know and love.

Opinions on an accidental friendly torp
Ubertron_X replied to UncappingBadger's topic in General Discussion
Well, not saying you are entirely wrong on this but paying attention to chat can be as important as paying attention to the mini-map, especially as it is our only way of meaningful ingame communication, not only about friendly torps, but also about target selection (F3) and or general strategy (abandon cap x) etc. So if I drop some risky torps for any reason while pinging on the map and writing in chat multiple times what I am about to do thats the best I can do as far as the game lets me. Note that this is not at all shifting the blame because risky torps are risky torps after all, but team mates that do ignore or miss chat (in principle or simply because they were busy fighting) do not help avoiding accidents either. -
Opinions on an accidental friendly torp
Ubertron_X replied to UncappingBadger's topic in General Discussion
As long as the game itself does not provide means to better indicate areas threathened by friendly torps he is not to blame. I once had a friendly, bow-tanking BB asking for help in chat and replied in chat that I am going to help (in a DD). So I shot some fish in front of the enemies charging his very position. And what did this guy do? Accelerated towards the enemy, going in for a brawl and while doing so cleverly manouvered his ship in front of the enemy ships, when he easily could also have brought the enemy in between him and my torps instead. End of story: Friendly sunk, me pink and wondering just about how many bad decisions had just been made (my attempt at teamplay included). -

Well, despite that the fact that teammates sometimes seem to go any length to be able to get hit by your torps (which includes BBs somehow able to reach top speeds like a Le Terrible on speed boost) Saltface has already said it: Your torps - your responsibility.
